At times it will seem like your recording but then when you want to replay it, it will shut down your camcorder, and will not play that file.

Sound quality is horrible.
So is the Video Quality.

Only works good if your just going to have it mounted on a tripod and your not going to move much.

I tried to record my band live in a club setting. The video picture was fine, but the sound was nothing but a distorted mess. This unit is great for the family vacation, but do not buy if you plan to video any live music; unless it is music that is not amplified. If anyone should happen to know of a "fix" for this issue of distorted sound, I would be most appreciative of any suggestions or advice.

I bought this camera back last Black Friday and I have used it quite a bit since then, you can view a video I put on YouTube under Dad and Felipe. It was taken using this camera. It is for the most part a decent camera. I would say that it has two drawbacks for me. 1)The control buttons are way to small for an adult to control easily. 2) the HDMI feature is ok if you upload the videos via the SD card to your computer. But I have been unable to obtain the mini HDMI cable to connect it to the HD TV. I found one for $70! forget it!

My hubby pointed this out to me on Black Friday, and although I hadn't considered getting a pistol-grip handycam, I fell in love with this one. The last time we went to Disneyland, carrying around the video camera was a major pain...I was carrying around a messenger bag; always afraid I was going to misplace it/never had the camera out when I needed it. I have taken TONS more video since getting this pocket-sized camera. For those who say the video is grainy, they are probably filming in low-quality VGA mode. My videos are crisp, clear, amazing. As to the sound issues: if you play it back through the camera's built in speaker, it sounds tinny and poor quality. If you play it back through your computer or television, you will find that it captures sound pretty decently. If you want to hear good sound quality using the camera, play it back using a pair of headphones using the included headphone jack.

I brought my new camera to Christmas with my family, and practically had to arm wrestle to get it back from my family members, who also fell in love with it.

My husband bought this camera for me as an "stand in" camera. It seemed a great buy with it's 7-in-1, a few good features, etc. However, it is not! It will not take action photos without massive blurring. Still photos and video are grainy. The sound quality is absolutely horrid! Not to mention, it charged once! Any attempt to charge it again, failed. Not even two months after purchasing it, it is dead! It will not turn on, period, not even when connected to the computer with it's charger/USB cable. The only consulation for us is that my husband bought the 1 yr warranty and Radio Shack is refunding our money via giftcard. It's not the preferred outcome, but at least I don't have to put up with another of this camera!!!

Is there anything I should know or need additional? I am really interested in this. I received a gift card to Radio Shack and thought I would use it for this.

This is PERFECT for those just want something a little better than a cell phone to have when out with family/friends goofing around. I am an offroad nut and would be perfect to have in my Jeep to film the good times(or bad, like a rollover). I also play sports and go out places often and is great to have when just spur of the moment things come up. Small enough that the wifie can keep it in her purse or I can keep it in my pocket. Wasn't looking for the BEST HD camera out there, just something that can record a bit longer than a 20 sec film on my phone. Got an 8GB SDHC card and works fine. Only thing I own that could actually use the SDHC card... Keep in mind, you WILL NOT film the next blockbuster movie on this, just the good times for memories... I got exactly what I paid for and am happy with it. GREAT PRODUCT

I am amazed that such a small, light, battery-powered device can perform as this product has during the last two weeks. I am pleased that I have such a useful device that cost so little (I bought it on Black Friday for two thirds of the advertised price).

It is so small and light that one can carry it around in ones shirt pocket, as if it were a pack of cigarettes.

One may need to have it handy in case one needs to have a record of incidents that involve policemen, such as automobile accidents, for use in court. It would also be useful when talking to ones older relatives about family history and genealogy.

I was able to record narrated walks through my neighborhood that lasted over one hour, without needing to recharge the battery, after I increased its memory by inserting a one GIG SD card.

The microphone picks up sound so well that I have to reduce the speaker output when I play the sound track back on my computer. The mike even picked up part of the conversations of the people whom I walked past during my walk.

I had no trouble hearing recorded conversations with people who were speaking to me from over a yard away.

This camcorder can also record audio minus the video. I placed it beside the speakers of my computer and recorded over an hour of an online broadcast of the Kim Kommando show. I played the audio back on my computer and the sound quality seemed to be as good as the original broadcast.

This camcorder seems to function well while the battery is being charged.

This is my first camcorder, so I can not compare its price and performance to other products.

I noticed a few software problems, for example, when I tried to make the date and time imprint on my digital photographs. I wish the date and time could be imprinted when video is being made too.

I found no firmware updates, downloads or support webpages about this product on the Internet. I telephoned the toll free number I found on the CD pdf. file. The American technical support agent who answered seemed totally unfamiliar with this camera. He could not answer the simplest questions. I suggest outsourcing his job to a Filipino.

When I first started using it, I heard an unusual noise coming inside this camcorder during both the filming and playback, probably because of some manufacturing defect or something loose inside the housing.

Since the warranty is only for 90 days, I wonder how long this camcorder will last.

Ok there are a couple of things here you must know. Outside shots in daytime are amazing for the money spent. When you are indoors you must play around with the white balance settings and the EV adjustment settings for good quality video. The sound is not great but no better or worse than for say a cell phone video. When I first played around with this I was like what the heck did I just buy. After adjusting settings per the enviroment I am in it is a great camcorder. If you are not a tech savy person I would not purchase this you will be disappointed but if you read the manual that is on the cd it will help you better with your product. Also as mentioned in other reviews get the 10 dollar HDMI a/c converter adapter. Note High def videos can only be seen through the HDMI out on the camera unless you media player on pc supports high def resolution along with your monitor.

This is a great camera for any level of user from novice to pro! It was a bit confusing to operate at first and the fact that the user guide is on a CD, made learning it a bit hard. Other than that the functions are great the quality superb, its a great deal for the price and being that im a RS employee and got it at a discounted price didnt hurt either. I've sold many and havent had a single complaint or refund. Its the best camera you can buy because of all its capabilities all in one, and the extra storage with an SD Card (either a 2GB or 4GB) just makes it that much more of a steal. Bottom line if your wanting a great gift ask for it, if your looking to give a great gift give it!!!

There's a little contradiction as I list both comfortable to operate and complicated. As far as basic shooting is concerned, it's very simple ad straight-forward.

The menus are a little complicated to navigate to start with as you have to use the zoom control to work through them, but you will get used to it.

One function not mentioned is that the camera has a built in macro-lens setting. This allows some very close up work on small subjects with no trouble at all. Just don't forget to rotate the lens back to normal for regular shots.

Sure there's better cameras but this is a great overall value for everything that it can do.

If you watch the attached video, be sure to hit the "Watch in HD" link or you will not see what the camera can do.

This is a great little camera for the money. It has some features that people in the auto industry would call "surprise and delight". Multiple picure frames is one of those. I'll let you discover the others on your own!
Two caveats on my list of Pros: 1: Great picture is only under ample lighting conditions. In poor lighting (such as your kids' recitals) pic is grainy but still very watchable. 2: Great sound if played back on computer or other machine. Built-in speaker is tiny and tinny. Included software could be better but provides basic functionality.

Great Camera for the price. Fooled around with it a little works great but if you zoom in when there is low light the picture becomes too dark. Great deal for the price. I was enjoying learning about all of the different features of this camera. Then I decided to see how the HD looked on my high def TV. I introduced the HDMI cable to the camera only to find out it doesn't fit. The Radio Shack store salesman was just as confused. They didn't carry any cable that fit it. Turns out, deep in radioshack.com, we found just one HDMI Mini Cable (only available online) for $80. Since I bought this camera for [$] on sale, we realized this cable doubled the price of the camera. The store graciously refunded my entire purchase.

Incredible little camera. Of course there are better cam's out there, but you'll pay through the roof. I've been shopping around for a decent, inexpensive HD camera and am very happy I found this on black friday! The user who gave it 1 star is probably recording in low quality, VGA mode. Its very easy to accidentally hit the button. Or he is using the composite cable that came with this unit. Throw that cable away...and buy a mini HDMI cable. It's worth the [$]investment. The video quality is pretty amazing. Also purchased an 8gb SDHC card to go with this as the built in memory is almost non-existent. I also think the image stabilization over compensates and puts a weird effect on the image...so I turn it off... Overall am very pleased. A vid cam is only good if you use it and this guy makes it easy to use in spontaneous situations. Can't go wrong for[$]bucks! I'd still buy it at $119.

For starters, I was very disappointed that I wasn't able to use this camera's webcam mode in Mac OS X. I had to install Parallels and Windows XP in order to use it. The tech specs show that it's compatible with Mac OS X, but the only thing you can do is transfer your images and video from the camera manually. It comes with no software for Mac OS X whatsoever. If you want support, good luck. The Memorex website makes no mention of any camcorders.

For the price on Black Friday, it's not all that bad, but the old adage is true, you get what you pay for. I honestly may return it and save up for something a little better, like a Sanyo Xacti or a Flip.

The video quality is terrible in low light conditions. It's not so bad when there's plenty of light. The sound is terrible. It's audible for speech, but don't use this to record any live music. The battery life is decent. With an 8GB SDHC card, this camera will record just over four hours at 1280x720, it's highest resolution. You get a little more when you enable the image stabilization and night mode. One cool thing is that this camera can record when it detects motion, which can be handy when keeping an eye on intruders, nosey children or bad babysitters.

All in all, I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'll try to use it some more before I give up on it. The lack of Mac OS X compatibility is almost sure to make it a return.

I think it's a great camera. About the HDMI, you need to buy an adapter for the regular HDMI cable, it's an HDMI camera adapter tip. The radio shack brand tip costs about $10, and you won't find it cheaper anywhere else. With the 8GB SDHC card I purchased to go along with it, I can hold up to 2000 songs in the MP3 part of it, I can hold over 5,000 pictures and over 8 hours of movie time. Today is the first day I'm using it fully charged, so we'll see how it holds up. I'm going out all day with my family. Yesterday I used it quite a bit and the battery only charged for like a half an hour and it lasted over 2 hours overall before dying on me on the train while I was listening to some music. It's a great deal I think for someone who isn't too camera-savvy and wants the latest features.

Bought this for our tween daughter for her birthday, got it on Black Friday for [$]!! The same price others and radio shack were offering the "Flip" 10-min camcorder and it wasn't even a hard choice. Flip camcorder is not worth 1/2 of the price while this little camcorder is great. I read a review saying the buttons were a little small - we didn't notice that but my 12 year old wouldn't have an issue if they were? My husband tried it out and loved how easy it was to use and how nice the video comes out. Get the 4GB or 8GB card with it and you'll be glad you did. Overall I love this, we saved hundreds by getting this one and everyone loves it!!

If you're expecting good quality video out of this, DO NOT BUY! Video quality is extremely grainy. My 2-year old still camera takes better quality video clips. And if I blow it up to double its size, it still looks better than the HD videos this camera puts out. Very disappointed.

i just got this camcorder and i love it!its small but very comfortable.and the features r fantastic!its everything u could want in a camcorder.the internal memory isn't very good about a 2min. video is all it holds.so u need to get a memory card,and the picture gets a little grainy when u zoom in about halfway.but im sure that'll clear up on the t.v. or computer.really its an awsome product! i totally recommend it especially if this is going to be ur first camcorder.i hope this helps any future customers.

Its a nice camera for the price, but its a little hard to use with big hands. NOTE* the HDMI port on the back end is smaller than a regular hdmi port. Useing a standard radioshack brank hdmi cable, the port on the camera is way too small. I dont know if there is some other type of hdmi, but regulars dont work with this thing.
