I purchased this GPS system for my wife as a Christmas gift. Although most of the places she goes she has a pretty good grasp of how to get there she loves having it to find alternative routes and specific landmarks and addresses. We used it just this past weekend on a trip to Boston. And although her friend lives there it was very helpful in getting to a specific restaurant we wanted to go to and also in finding other small towns outside of Boston that we wanted to explore such as Fall River and Salem. The only problem that we sometimes have with it is that it can be a bit stubborn if you take an alternate route, which my wife does at times since she knows how to basically get to some of her locations, and will continually try to get you back onto it's designated route which although may be the shortest in distance is not always the shortest in time.

I use my Garmin to easily find places I've never been before. My son just started high school and Garmin has made finding the away game gyms and fields a snap. Just enter the address and follow the directions. I also like that the unit speaks the street name in the directions. It's so easy to use. This is the first GPS I've owned and I used it several times before I read the operating instructions.

I am a Realtor and travel to new destinations on a daily basis. This device has simpliefied my life! It used to take a long time every evening to map out my route even with the help of on-line programs. Now I just program them in the night before showings and just pull up the saved addresses. Quick and easy. I like this Garmin so much I bought one for my daughter.

I use this product at least once a week. i am working in a new city than the one I live in, so getting around is hard for me. This thing has worked great for me for that purpose. The maps need to be updated, and it would be nice if they would off them for free. I don't currently have the money to purchase the upgrades.

The "Home" feature is awesome! You're off somewhere and you just want to be home... this little Garmin gets you there!!! It's proven me wrong (I know the best/fastest way). Easy to use, works as advertised, reasonable price, what more could you want?

I use this every day when I show homes in my job as a Realtor. I also take it with me on vacation and use it to find my way around. It has a feature where you can search for restaurants that are close by or type in a specific place and get directions to it. With my garmin 350 I am no longer afraid to drive around any city. It is very easy to use right out of the box.

We use the GPS to find addresses, but newer addresses are not found, or allowed as destinations. Will not remember routes taken.
I can find no way to up date the built in data, I realize that the unit is not the newest version, but there should be up dates on the Garmin web site, but I could not find them.

I am a very map oriented person. I am bad at hand written directions.
The way this GPS communicates to you the directions (with street names) is very good. It adjusts its rate of communication with your speed.
My only other GPS Nav experience is with playing with my friends GPS units which were lower models. I have not much experience with the top of the line $600+ units.

I got one of these for my husband for xmas 07 and he really liked it, we own a HVAC company and he uses it all the time on service calls. My dad found this deal on RadioShack's website and wanted to get me mom one for xmas 08 and since we liked ours so much he ordered one and I ordered another one for my brother-in-law. Everyone is very happy with it.

We live in a rural area and have not had a problem with the GPS not finding an address. We have areas with no cell service, but the GPS can locate them!

Text to speach feature is very useful and unusual for this price. Updating maps is too expensive after the first year (this is the case, I think, with most GPS mfgs). Overall, very good buy and no need to upgrade for many years.

Have'nt had to long, but so far I really like it. I like that it voices ahead of time so you know when you need to turn far enough that you can prepare. So far have not made long trips but I'm sure it will be great when we do. The only thing that I don't like, is that the screen might be a little hard to see. Other than that I think it's great.

Some minor limitations, but overall worth the price. I've given up even trying to use for any length of time without being plugged into charger. I just keep it plugged in whenever in use. In talking to others, this appears to be the norm, rather than a problem with my specific model.

This is a great GPS System. Once too expensive now extremely affordable via Radioshack and similar vendors. So far limited use only locally but very accurate and reliable. Bought for wife mainly. Appears she can handle her needs for getting around. Very happy so far and would recommend this GPS to others.

Got the device for christmas 2008... 1-25-09 took it out for its first trip... It got me to the destination ok. The return is a different story. Powered it up but the device lost its maps. It knew where it was, but it lost all POI information. No favorites.. nothing...

Left high and dry...

Devices fail sometimes. The real test here is how will Radio shack/Garmin handle this.


I will say that the battery only lasted 4 hours. Tahts seams short for a brand new device on a full charge.

I have to travel to many locations to perform quarterly safety inspections. I know the general areas but struggle remembering quarter to guarter the directions. So I was using mapquest, rand mcnally or yahoo to print the directions and maps. Very time consuming.I also go to meetings all over the US and many of the people that I meet with own a GPS. Different makes and models. Those systems have never failed to get us to where we were going. Restaurant, meeting hall, hotels or malls. some definately worked better and easier than others.I also see a lot of Doctors and found I would forget which dr was at which medical bldg. I programed all my locations and dr offices and now I am one button away from finding my way quickly. It is priceless.I had never owned a unit but researched the different ones for nearly a year and decided on a garmin. based on consumer reports testing and tons of comsumer comments.The 350 which in no longer in production but still available at a greatly lower cost is just perfect. I used it for a couple of week to get to location I knew and it never missed a turn. I now use it every where I go and I don't leave home without. The cost of this unit was around [$] which I feel is probably mid range for a unit without a lot of bells and whistles. but we got it for a little more than [$]. Inexpensive enough that if for some reason It had to be replaced in a year or two it would have still been worth the money. The printer ink to print directions and maps would exceed the cost over even the 1st year of this units use. I am getting one for my Sister.

I am so very pleased with the Garmin, I am not a electric whiz and this is so simple that even I can run and understand it. I just love it. I really like that it tells you what lane to be in for a turn.

We bought it to help find ice rinks for our son's year round travel and tournament ice hockey trips. We also use it for family vacations or anytime we have to go somewhere unfamiliar. Most of the hockey parents have navigators as well, many more expensive than this unit, but this unit has outperformed most of the others for selecting the better routes and better accuracy. We've had it ~1.5 years and have been completely satisfied. We bought our daughter a nuvi when she went off to college. Her boyfriend was so impressed he also bought one.

This product does not have a lot of "bells and whistles" which makes it simple to use. Especially for those who have trouble figuring out technology. We love it!

After 2 months of owning the unit quit receiving satellite signals and does not work and they insist I send in for repair that I have to pay for. The unit was in my vehicle the whole time and was never dropped or misused. Beware!

Garmin is top notch stuff and this one works like a champ. BUT....The maps ESPIRE quickly and then you are forced by the unit to Garmin's web pages to purchase map updated. (The unit still works but you are force thru annoying nag screens.) This is a horrible confusing process, you can easily spend over [$]and get the wrong maps which will not work. Garmin support is useless and the web map update process is nearly unuseable. All they want is your money they don't care what they sell you. Forget Garmin for now until this is fixed!

This unit was never abused since I have owned it. It was an expensive unit to have only lasted a little over a year. It was great when it worked but become inoperative enroute to unknown areas at the most critical times when I really needed navigational aides. All updates have been performed and now will not capture a satellite signal. Tech Support could not help and says I need to send it in for a repair bill of[$] plus shipping. I will not recommend this unit to anyone.

Took a 5000 mile trip to Montana, Wyoming, etc. Unit was invaluable in locating and directing route to lodging, restaurants, and other businesses. It did make a couple of errors, but overall a great device to have along.
It does take some getting used to. Read the manual. Recommend getting the bean bag dash mount.

it is important to learn the product. things such as the settings for shortest or fastest route. on or off road.I never had a problem with directions other then one time when they added new road and was not yet set in the system. I saved so much gas and time with this product. The stress it took away from my travels is worth 5 times the cost.
