Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I was very impressed with the overall performance of this product, [$] I bought 4 different nav systems, all top models (Navigon, tom Tom, and Garmin). The Mio Moov 500 gave the quickest speech instructions, very simple format of touchscreen operations. Very quick recalculations for missed turns, never lost sattelite signal(lost signal many times with Garmin Nuvi). Very very good performance! The only problem I had was I paid for the traffic message channel module and antenna. It cost $100 and came with 1 year free service (I also paid $49 for lifetime membership). But then I found out I had to buy a standard to mini usb cable for $10 with a $12 shipping fee in order to activate the unit on the computer after I had already paid for the service!

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I bought this unit for my wife who tends to get lost. The Pros are that it picked up the sat. link quickly, charged quickly, finding addresses, rerouting when you miss a turn and keep going, POI (even though limited) was interesting because it found Patriot Place (Foxboro, Ma) that has been open less than a year. The volume control is very good. Even with the radio going and road noise I had the volume set at 2 levels below the max and could hear all turn by turn directions.I took it one day to try it out going to work. It found the best route was Rt 95 to Rt 495 when Rt 1 to Rt 495 is shorter. When I turned right instead of left it recalculated the route in 30 seconds. When I came home I turned off the highway option and it took me home via the back roads (though at one point it wanted me continue on Rt 1A and I took another back road) but again it rerouted well. The biggest Cons are the plug adapter at the bottom. This kept falling out whether I was using the car adapter or the AC adapter. This needs to be redesigned maybe to the side. The other big one is the battery life. My son took it for ride to Doetown, NH and the unit died before it was an hour into the drive. The car adapter was plugged in but it wasn't charging (I had the same problem going to work - no charge). I think this is due to a defective car adapter though (I'm returning it for a new one). The other con my son had was the route it picked for him to get to his destination. It routed him the long way around a large lake when the actual road he wanted (Doetown Rd) would be directly in front of him. This again could have been due to the fact that the setting was to avoid unpaved roads.I've been playing around with the settings and turning on/off POI's. If you turn on too many POI's your screen will become cluttered with distracting things. It's best to use this feature only when you need to find a specific POI (food, theater, gas, auto repair, hospitals etc...) otherwise turn off all the POI's you're not looking for.We haven't used it yet out-of-state yet so I can't proclaim it's the best yet.As to the price, we bought it at Radio Shack on an unannounce sale day. [$]We included the adapter package and a base unit that is a big sandbag that sits on your dashboard. It doesn't slide even when I stopped fast at one point. It's also great because it doesn't leave a mark on your dashboard like the suction cup holder does. The suction cup holder sits inside this base and you just disconnect the GPS from the holder and store the rest under your seat - no teltale mark for thiefs - just make sure to remove the car adapter too.
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Overall the Mio Moov 500 is a great value for the money. A bargain actually, [...]However when I took this unit into Washington D.C. , it would constantly change routes based on location without any error in driving. Also Canal Rd in Maryland was not programmed into the map data base. This road has been there for a number of years ???

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I am a casual user of this unit. I bought it mainly for driving in the Chicago area. I haven't had a chance to try it there yet, but where I live it seems to work well. It has missed a couple of addresses by about 1/8 of a mile, but I was looking for the destination, so I found it fine. I've used a Garmin before and the aggravating thing was when it went into its "recalculating mode". After hearing the message a few times, I was ready to turn it off. This unit doesn't tell you its recalculating, it just does it (quietly) and tells you when to turn next. When you register the unit online, there is supposed to be a 2009 map update for free. The interface is fairly intuitive and I found it easy to use. I wish there was a USB cable included in the box, but my card reader for my digital camera has a cord that matches. I also wish you could use it when it's attached to the computer and charging, but this seems impossible.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Well i bought this unit for my father as he is always getting lost. I figured i'd give it a test run. I tested it going to my bros. He lives south from me and i live close to 2 turnpike entrances, 1 east and 1 south of my address. when i turned the unit on and programmed the address of my brother, this unit was making me go to the one east of my house while there is one south which would have made more sense since its in the same general direction. Anyway i figured the one east was probably closer so that's why this unit was making me go to that one. Anyway, on the way to my bro, we were purposely going to wrong streets and highways to see how quickly the unit responds and it did it with no problem. i was actually impressed since this unit was cheap and u know the saying you get what you paid for but this unit was actually just as good as my brother-in-law's more expensive unit. Without using the manual, i relied on following the touch menu and after i figured it out, it was nothing to it. I entered my home address and saved it. Now you can go anywhere and if you get lost on the way home, all you have to do is go to menu and hit MY HOME on the main screen and the unit will get you home if you know how to listen to its voice directions! Well i've tested it enough as far as functions. i have yet to test it on very cloudy or rainy days to see if it will perform just as good and to see how long it will last. My other neg for this unit was when you first turn it on, the battery is very low or dead so you would have to sit in your car to fool around with it to program your home address and places you want to go to. If it had a DC home charger, i would have been able to sit on my sofa and do all the programming. Anyway, after a couple of trips, the battery was fully charged so i can now add other places i want to go to in the menu of my FAVORITES while inside the house. I will definitely get another one for myself and bring it with me on long trips if i happen to get myself lost or given a wrong directions by friends or family which has happened quite a few times.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I HAVE SOLD A LOT OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF AUTO GPS UNITS. WHEN IT CAME TO ME BUYING ONE FOR MYSELF, I DISCOVERED THIS UNIT AND SIMPLY FEEL IN LOVE WITH IT. ITS GIANT SCREEN CAN EASILY BE READ FROM THE BACKSEAT. I REALLY DON'T MIND THAT THE MOUNT IS FLIMSY BECAUSE ITS HUGE SO I EXPECTED THE MOUNT NOT TO BE ABLE TO HOLD IT. ITS EXTREMELY EASY TO USE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS UNIT TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A GREAT GPS SYSTEM AT A EVEN BETTER PRICE.
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Used 2 other better brands in same cost range
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
This is a great unit for the price. We have a lot of American Indian street names here and it tends to clobber the names, but other than that is a easy to use unit. I wish it could learn routes, that would make the Mio 500 the perfect GPS unit. That will probably happen in the near future.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Like my Mio. Problems locating My Home adress in rural community and suburban address are off half block on North/South streets. Just wanted to add that after reading manual USB cord feeds through hole in window mount for sturdier connection. Makes it much easier as I thought cord fit to loose otherwise. This should have been included in box since directions are not. Also dissapointed to find that "Free" traffic and construction updates are only available after purchasing $100 antenna on the Moov 500 model. Still good value at $129-$149.
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
This is the worst of the GPS units I've had experience with. It would repeatedly tell me to take an exit, then when I was halfway onto the ram, it would tell me I was going the wrong way. Then it would make me get back on the same highway I was just on. This happened multiple times on the same trip. I got a refund and plan on getting another brand.
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
My MIO was a Christmas present, and although I enjoy it, it should have additional accessories available. (e.g. carrying case, bean bag stand)

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
4 year old street not listed on this 2008 MOOV 500. Gave a few wrong turns. My 2 year old 2006 Streets and Trips is more accurate and easier to use. It had the streets last year. Sent email to Mio. No response other than generic. So I called after 30 Minutes on hold Mio basically said tuff luck. The will be no update till April 2009. Is this customer service? I think not. I'll be returning this one to Radio Shack! Of course they blamed it on there 3rd party software provider.
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Excellent unit! Takes a bit to master the controls, but then it is wonderful. Good directions, fast route recalculation, nice loud announcements. Wonderful value. Very pleased.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I got this unit out of the box, and charged it via the D/C outlet in the vehicle. The unit would initialise, but the touch screen was totally unresponsive. The box tells the unwary consumer to call the Mio company and not take the unit back to the retailer. I called and was told the reason it didn't work was because it hadn't been charged for 8 hrs. I questioned this diagnosis, as I assumed it would display symptoms similar to a lowly charged cellphone. The customer service reap assured me it was the lack of charging causing the problems. Fully realising the stupidity of this pronouncment, I asked how I would return it after I had charged it for 8 hrs and found it still not working, and was told there is no way to get a refund, or a new unit. Mio simply repair the old unit -IF there is anything wrong with it.[...] I will gladly see off my mio and never make the mistake of getting a Mio again. It's not so much the fact it was faulty - these things happen - but the complete lack of helpfulness by customer service makes this a company one should stay well away from, if one anticipates requiring any form of product support. This lack of help extends to email inquiries. I emailed details first, and received an email advising me to contact C/S, which I did with the results as detailed above. I then sent another email advising I had charged the unit as told, and that it was still not working, and that Radioshack had agreed to a refund. I got another email telling me Mio was very sorry for my problems, and if I would only call Mio C/S, perhaps they could help me whatever problems I was having. It appears, at Mio C/S, they either do not read emails or do not understand the content of the emails.Others may have different experinces, but my experience with Mio is summed up in the heading - I wouldn't chance it.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I purchased the unit a week ago. The MOOV 500 does everything it advertises. Note the text-to-speech only works for selected characters (e.g., Samantha or Tom). The interface is intuitive such that a users guide is not required (though it is available from the Mio website). If you want basic navigation at a good price, this is it. The only con: the mounting bracket and power/USB connector are too close to each other. It's manageable, but it could have been designed better. Regarding battery life, it has been sufficient for me to program several addresses while on battery power. Beside, for normal operations, the unit will be powered by the car DC.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
This GPS is a bare bones package. Should have alot more for the money. NO USB cable, NO indoor wall charger, NO case, Doesn't do photos, Only has US Map preloaded not Canada. Additional maps seem expensive. Wished I'd have done more research. I've seen GPSs since that had everything this doesn't for less money.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Purchased from Radio Shack on line at a great price. The unit has all the features I need to use it for what it is, i.e., a GPS. I'm not interested in blue tooth, picture viewer, MP3 player in a navigation unit. The Mio Moov 500 performed well on a complicated route from rural central Florida to rural north Ga., including urban nav through Atlanta. It quickly found a re-route when I deviated from it's calculated route. It never got lost even when I intentionally "messed" with it.On the down side; this unit must be very new or only sold at Radio Shack under this model number. I find little or no info on line regarding reviews, etc.. Mio's web site is almost useless for obtaining additional product info, accessories or for reporting navigation errors or anomalies. Street addresses consistently appear to be about 300' to 350' from the actual physical location. Enroute navigation, however, is dead on target. As you pass through an intersection, the moving symbol on screen is passing at exactly the same time. Hard to understand why the street addresses are inaccurate?? The spoken street names are fairly good and very audible. The voice did mispronounce several fairly simple street names and was good for a few laughs. For example, Irlo was pronounced "eye-are'-lo" and Osceola was ohs-cee'-lee-oh. The printed user manual included with the unit is also sketchy and poorly written. It is easier to just play with it until you figure it out, which may not bode well for a technical novice. The MioMore Desktop 2008 software supplied with the unit is worse than useless. It does absolutely nothing and is a total waste of hard drive space. I hope Mio remembers it did manufacture and sell this unit and decides to actively support it on line and provide a useful software update. In this day and age, an incompetent web site and non-functional software speaks poorly of a company and it's product. Too bad since the 500 actually works pretty darn well!
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
This was a gift for my Wife she loves it and was able to use it with no problems. may take a longer rout then you would but it gets you there redirect is fast Grate GPS for the price.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
my first gps receiver. i researched the mio 500, and decided it was a deal for the price. i've only had it a few days, but am very impressed with its performance. if you change routes suddenly, it refigures your destination in about 5 seconds. the 4.7 in. screen is the perfect size. the 3d imaging is really good also. really, dont hesitate to buy this just because you havent seen it advertized before. at less than 150.00 it beats tom-tom , garmin hands down

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
The unit came uncharged. There is no user manual. It comes with a disc that does not contain any information - it only gets you to their website to download the manual. Once on the site, you end up in an endless loop of "choose model", choose language", "choose model", choose language", etc. Would it be so hard to just include the document on the disc?[...] I'm returning this piece of bleep tomorrow!
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I tried using this product in Philadelphia, Chicago and Baltimore as well as the suburbs. It takes about 10 minutes to get the signals sometimes that is unheard of in the GPS world. There is something wrong with the software. It does load the maps rather quickly but have to wait to eternity to get the GPS signal.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I didn't give 5 Stars because I don't think anything in this world is perfect but this GPS sure comes close. This one had all the features I was looking for with text to speach being the most important, large screen next, etc. It works very well. I've tested it on routes I know very well and on those I don't know at all. I'm a real estate agent and do a lot of driving with my clients in the car and so I can't get lost!!!
You can register online with the manufacturer for a FREE map upgrade which comes out a few months in to 2009. Don't hesitate this product is well worth the money.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I love almost every thing about this unit. I always get lost and it is very reassuring to have it along with me. I actually bought it for my Mother for Christmas, and I am having a hard time putting it back in the box. I know my mom's not a "tech" person so I wanted to us it and work out the bugs. And set up some major POI's for her. So far it's great... Takes me ways I wouldn't normally go, but it is doing what I programed it to do, "Fastest". The only, few, things I have noticed that bother me are : you can't push a "re-rout" button to choose a different way to go; Or that it gets confused on "service" roads that are very close to a main highway I was just on; And sometimes it doesn't know that there are 2 exits at one "ramp". But that last one will only mess you up if you never look at the map to see the correct exit ramp. I think it's best to listen to the voice and look at the map once in a while. It is ONLY a piece of technology, not a person sitting next to you. It's doing the best that it's programed to do. And so far I love it. I wish I bought 2 when they were on sale... Maybe I'll get one for Christmas!

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I bought this for my Wife who gets lost going to the bathroom. I naturally played with it prior to giving it to her. It was slightly off with address but it gets you very close. I know and maybe everyone else should know that there is no consumer GPS on the market that is 100% accurate. To my knowledge the only GPS that is 100% accurate is military grade. For the money it has all the same bells and whistles all the more expensive GPS's have. I was very pleased with it. I am on my way to get one for myself now.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I have only used it for a short time. I get nervous in big time city traffic and this thing got me from point A to B flawlessly. It will take me time to learn to use all it's features. The manual is helpful but poorly organized, somewhat redundamt, and keeps telling you to go to another page for more information on some of the operations which is cumbersome. I learn more using trial and error. I don't understand the complaints on short battery life. As long as it is connected to power source it should always work. I saw a couple complaints that it would ask you to make a U turn. I had that happen and it could only be the result of two things. You are going the wrong way or you did not have it programmed properly. I was amazed how quickly it recalulates when there is a variation in your route.
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
this is my third GPS and my second with text to speech which is the feature that separates the wheat from the chaff. This baby has text to speech and a 4.7" inch screen plus, unlike my previous two units, finds satellites almost immediately and doesn't leave you sitting in an airport for 3 minutes while it acquires a signal. Plus the free mapping update offer in 2009 and ALL for only [$] from the Shack. Plus I just got their circular for next week and it is selling for [$]!!

Have not had it on the road yet, but must comment on the dvd that came with - I use Mozilla instead of IE and the mio desktop critter about crashes my machine - can't go online to register the product or get info! Also, the dvd manual says traffic info (TMC) can be accessed by putting in your product number (from back of manual or flap of disk cover) - that doesn't work either. Also, when the "desktop" starts up it tries to go online and change your toolbar! Avoid it like the plague!

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I never had a GPS before the Moov 500. I'm not much on reading directions either, I just pulled it out of the box and turned it on. It found my location immediately. The Big Screen for the price, was why I had purchased it. Took a 3000 mile trip with good directions but there are a few things you need to be aware of.
It Does have problems with small parking lots.(it will say your in the middle of a street)
It Does tell you for a mile maybe two to make U-Turns if you missed a turn , after that, it will reroute your trip. (found out later that can be adjusted in the control menu in settings)
It Does tell you POI's that you already have passed and will send you back from whence you came to get you there. (annoying on a long trip when looking for a Gas Station or Restaurant and it list one's you passed two miles ago.)
I read reviews about it falling off the window, I had mine in the car for 3 days in subzero weather and it never fell off.
An address that I was going to in a small cow town in the Midwest had the wrong street number, but the numbers had been recently changed.
Overall, I would recommend it, it's not with out it's flaws, but from what I used it for, it worked very well.

Went to a few electronic stores looking for help with the new Mio's. In Hawaii, the address contains a '-' in the number scheme of the street. The key pad does not have a space bar or a dash. The Unit is worthless in Hawaii. I have a older MIO 310x that works well, however, Mio does not support it. Its 3 years old and was only able to get 1 update of maps before the company stop supporting it. I own two Garmins and still like the 'old Mio' over the garmins.

I love this unit. The larger screen makes it easier to see and use. The keyboard is "usier friendly" not to mention Text to Speech! Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Overall, I'm pleased with the MIO 500. This is the first GPS unit I ever owned. A salesperson at the store steered me to the unit because of the price and the features it offered. I like that it's easy to use and straightforward. I dislike that the touchscreen sometimes doesn't do what you want it to do. It doesn't always have all the street names in the big cities.( e.g Chicago.) I hope that the new 2009 map download corrects that issue. It's worth the money you paid for especially for the features you get versus a Garmin,Tom Tom, or other more expensive brand.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
This is my first GPS navigation unit. Installation was a "snap" and set-up pretty straight forward.
My biggest problem with the unit is that it doesn't always show the shortest or most direct route to a location. It will get you to your destination but sometimes by a circuitous route.
I am personally pleased with the size and convenience of the unit but it needs to be a bit "smarter".
Hopefully with the 2009 update this will happen.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Bought my Moov 500 one day before beginning a 2700 mile SoCal - Central Oregon round-trip. Mounted it on the floor tunnel between dash & console (yes, that low!); still, it was never any problem to acquire & keep satellite signals. Almost intuitive to set up and use, far easier than the expensive Always-Lost & Prius In-Dash systems I've used (and cussed) in the past. Route recalculations were remarkably quick when we diverted from the programmed path. In 11 days of use, the screen froze up just once (no idea why); a quick reset put things right. Although the battery runs down quickly, the unit works forever when plugged into the 12VDC accessory outlet. The only serious disappointment was to discover the data base was outdated by over 5 years. In spite of that, the unit was helpful nearly all of the time. Yes, urban reconstruction & street re-alignment caused some entertaining errors, but sheesh, your supposed to watch the roads & signs, not blindly follow a [*]-in-a-box.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Let's face it, technology such as this is remarkable. A good way to test your unit is to compare your directional mind with the programmed status of your unit to find out just how clever it actually is. If your "known point A to point B" is quicker and more reliable than your unit prescribes then you can be sure it will be that way in nearly every area you travel. Regardless, you have to trust the Mio's integrity.
Of course that may be the rub! I too pulled into my driveway and have an address listing on the screen other than the one on my mailbox. So, out of the box that was a real bother for me. After navigating the features with a friend, who owns a Garmin, he indicated this unit had features his did not. Then another individual showed me features on an older model Garmin that the Mio did not have. For example, specific food listings such as Chinese, Mexican, etc. Not that important to me.
On several occasions in areas where roads have never been proposed the Mio asked me to turn where NO road existed. Luckily I knew the area so I did not make the turn. That does speak to the integrity of this unit. On another occasion the unit asked me to "Perform a U-Turn" through a college campus and not at the legal median turn next to the college entrance. That was a bit disenchanting as well.
Don't expect perfection! However, on many occasions the unit will perform flawlessly, in fact, impressingly flawless.
The price was right. I personnally would not pay more for something like this. The higher the price the worse the headache when something goes wrong.
I'll close as I began, the GPS is an amazing piece of equipment, however expect all GPS's to be inaccurate a small percentage of the time. As far as this purchase, I am satisfied.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Granted the Mio brand is not a top seller or as well known as the TOMTOM, Garmin and so on here in the USA. I can promise you it will not advise you to make a U-Turn on the highway. Regarding battery life there are multiple mA in regards to USB chargers, all night with a 250mA 5V will give you no charge at all. This unit does come with a car charger and reliable stand for clean windows. Not only that, it has the biggest screen for the best price!!! It also informs you what street to make a turn on by name and distance. Informs you when you are speeding, recalculates your estimated arrival time due to speed or lack of. It also comes with a free 2009 map update when you register online for free!!! Doing some research I found that MIO is a HUGE player in the GPS world overseas, if they can make GPS device and maps for countries over seas our N,S,E,W streets should be no problem. The only problem I would say would be the menu speed, it is rather slow in regards to processing your input. Overall I am very pleased with this device, its features and looks.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I read other reviews and it seems the biggest complaint was a "Short battery life".
PLUG IT IN.
IT COMES WITH A 12 V POWER CORD.
I have had the Mio 500 for three weeks and use it daily. No complaints.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
THIS IS MY FIRST GPS SO I CAN'T COMPARE IT TO OTHERS. I USE IT FOR WORK, I'M A CONTRACTOR, SO I TRAVEL ALOT IN AREAS I DON'T ALWAYS KNOW. SO FAR IT HAS GOTTEN ME TO JOBSITES AND EVEN SHOWED SHORTER ROUTES.THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE WITH IT SO FAR IS IT SHOWS MY HOUSE AS A DIFFERANT ADDRESS. IT GETS ME HOME TO MY DRIVEWAY BUT WHEN I PULL IN IT SHOWS AN ADDRESS THAT IS NOT NEAR ME.THE TEXT TO SPEECH FEATURE IS GREAT AS IT ALLOWS ME TO KEEP MY EYES ON THE INSTEAD OF HAVING TO LOOK AT THE SCREEN.I HAVENT USED ALL THE FEATURES YET BUT EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE SO FAR. WATCH WHERE YOU MOUNT IT, MY SUCTION CUP HAS COME LOOSE TWICE SO FAR.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I was a little leary of picking up this unit, as I had never heard of Mio before checking out the day-after-Thanksgiving deals. I have had a Magellan, and was looking to get something with a larger screen as well as the voice navigation/stating street names. This unit (Mio Moov 500) [...], and per the info I located on line, appeared to have all of the functions I was looking for. The person that helped me out at the store said she thought Magellan made Mio, and I was happy with Magellan, so that put my mind more at ease with my decision. After getting home and charging the unit (only downfall is no usb cable supplied to allow me to charge through my computer, so just hooked it up in my car), I found the setup to be a breeze and extremely easy to do. The options are also very easy to navigate and are all user-friendly. The touch screen works well, even when the unit is cold (being used in Minnesota) and I have not had any issues with the directions here in the Twin Cities. The voice (you can choose male/female, plus many other dialects) was clear and easy to understand. I had my list of addresses stored in no time, and found this unit is tracked by satelites usually within 5-10 seconds after turning it on. No need for a screen any larger than this one, either. Any larger and I feel it would be a distraction. There is a lot more I could say about this unit that impressed me in a positive way, but I wanted to at least put my word in to say how happy I am with the accuracy and ease of using it. Without knowing what I paid for this unit, I would have guessed it was more like a $350-$425 unit. The only reason I did not give this 4-stars is simply because I feel there is always room to improve on everything - nothing's perfect, but as far as navigation units go, this is by far the best one I've ever used. I am a big believer on researching things before I make the purchase, so hopefully this info helps out in your decision.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
this is a great looking unit. I bought it on Friday after thanksgiving. The 4.7" screen is the largest I have seen in any GPS below $300. However, there are three significant cons. One (and the most significant) is that the Teleatlas maps are of very poor quality. I have been living in my house for 6 years and this GPS is not even aware of our street. Similarly it is unaware of my friend's strets that have been in existence for at least 5 years. This makes using this GPS very limited. Second: the battery life is listed at 5 hours. Afer charging the unit all night (with my own power cable - since the unit does NOT come with a regular power cable), the unit died after 55 minutes into the trip. Luckily by then I was clsoe enough to the destination that I did not need the GPS unit anymore. Third: the mounting clip is unreliable. the unit fell from the windshield twice within the first day.
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
found a shorter way to a frequent destination on my firt trip.
Spoken street names for less investment than the competition

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
this unit is priced less than it's 3.5 inch competitors. great sound on text to speech. Easy to read, instant recalculations if you change your route unexpectedly. 4.7 inch screen is so easy to see both day and night. the complete GPS unit, it should be selling for well over 400.00.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
During my trip from San Jose to seattle, I took an exit for coffee in CA when I start again the great MIO was showing my destination in WA just in 7 miles, assiting me to take several turn which are meaningless, some time made me drive in dead ends, one moment asked me to take left when CA road was only showing "RIGHT ONLY" was confused many times

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
the only this has in its favor is the screen size.no other machine tells you to take exits that do not exist, nor make u turns in the middle of I-95.they do not tell you that the map upgrades are[$] each after spending [$] you should get at least the 1st upgrade free. what a rip off.do not buy. I am returning mine.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
Had Tom Tom but kept turning on bluetooth and intercepting phone calls - Mio gave directions earlier and more correctly when placed side by side. Had both in comparision - night display was automatic - tom tom needs to be changed - only time it gliched was when first turned on it needed a few seconds to determine travel direction then corrected itself - Taking backroads didn't confuse it - self corrected and went with my plan not the irritating turn around go back squak I heard before - Icons are nice if looking for a specific brand of gas or food area instead of only a gas pump or knife and fork hotels icons made it easy to find where we were staying when I forgot the street address

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I was impressed with this unit right out of the box with it's sleek looks and compact size. The suction cup mount is excellent and holds up to even the coldest Alaskan temperatures. The screen is extremely sharp for being a touchscreen. But that is where the love affair ends.
The units up-to-date maps still don't show roads that have been here for 5 years and an update won't be available until April. My location can be a block or two off and frequently jumps to-and-from side roads while driving down the highway. It easly gets turned around while driving on city streets. This unit also loves to bind you to a road. When you look for an address it is in the center of the road and when you turn into a parking lot, yep, your still in the center of the road.
It would be nice if the unit would come with a USB cable or an SD card to help with updating/adding maps. It would be nice if the unit would turn on and off with the vechicle when plugged into the cig lighter. And it would be nice if you had the option of adding an external (amplified) antenna which might increase accuracy.
Maybe after a copule of revisions this might be a nice unit. Until then, I'm taking this back to Radio Shack and buying a Navigon 7100 somewhere else.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
This thing is pretty cool. I am good with electronics and picked it up intuitively. My wife usually needs help, she got it on the first try! Directions are usually spot on. We did notice that specific addresses seem to be off a little sometimes. My house shows about a block further down the road than it is and we had a similar experience finding an address out in the country. Overall, very easy to use, priced right, great screen.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
This thing is great and awsome especially for the price.
its missing the little things that some of the others have. but its stuff that has nothing to do with a gps.
like.
games-get a psp or ds duh
mp3 player. um there cheap and you have a radio
pic viewer- woulda been nice but agian its a gps
calander/calculator/etc- stuff thats on most phones anyway
i really wish you could play with it in your house while its on your usb charger. it would be a good time to add favorites and points of interest. i say that only becuase it only seems to stay charged off the charger for about 30 minutes tops. which is really aggravating
all and all its awsome for what it is a GPS. i personnly didnt buy it for games,calculator,calander,mp3, or pic viewer.
and as far as accuracy i havent used it that enough to heavy areas but have noticed that a few times it told me i needed to turn 100ft to late, but it speaks the name of the road out loud so that wasnt a problem. and when i passed my exit or turn it recalculates within 3 second or so to get me back on track. whether it was to turn at another road, get off another ext to go back, or make a u-turn
I hope this helps, oh yeah and this is the 1st gps i have ever owned
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I use this product everyday. It connects very quickly. The wide screen is awesome. The only thing, is the when you look a POI, it shows a address but no phone number. Other than that I love it. The price for it perfect, I dont believe you can find a gps with spoken street names and a wide screen like this one for this price. GREAT DEAL!!!!!
Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
So far is working well, no complains. The size of the display makes it easy to read and is very accurate and fast acquiring the signal.
Purchased on Friday and got on a 600 mile trip without a problem. Accurate information.. Can wait to load the new 2009 map.

Had a Mio C310 before, so I was already keen on the brand. The 500 is beautiful, the text-to-speech is pleasant and clear, and the visuals are top-notch.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
I've never heard of this brand before but thought I'd try it out, and I'm glad I did. This unit is fantastic! Easy to use, with a wide screen. Marks street names around your current location, marks gas station and hotels, and places to eat. The only thing I didn't like is the power cord jiggles free a little to easy.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 500 Portable GPS Receiver:
This thing should come with a big fluffy pillow to place it on. Any vibration threw the mount will leave it hanging by its power wire. Micro plug for headset is a joke. What use is this really? Have to buy a adaptor to plug in a ear peace, then the jack broke. battery only lasts about 10 minunts. Must program it via your computer. This thing only lasted two days in the car, and it was compleatly broken. It's junk. I returned it for exchange towards a tomtom. (RS<Would not give a refund!) Lost big points with me there.
