Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

Bought it and play around with it for an hour or so. Seems to be a great GPS for the price. Two draw backs that I saw right off. The screen seems to be jumpy like a series of pauses while driving its not as smooth as i would have hoped, but you get use to the movement of the screen quickly. The other is Updating the device. The website says to go to the online store for updates but the USA part of the site is not up or there is none for the Navman F15 YET. Other then that I would recomend it for anyone that wanted to get a GPS for the price range.

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

I bought this for a recent round-trip drive between mid New York state and St. Paul, Minnesota. It was a wonderful purchase! This was the first auto trip we've taken in 40 years that didn't evolve into a map-grabbing, free-for-all argument between the driver and the front street passenger.

Excellent aid to find lodging while enroute. It really limited the stress of driving around the Chicago loop! We loved knowing exactly how many miles we had left to drive before reaching our destination.

One thing I'd like improved is the maximum volume of "Ms. Navman's" voice. It doesn't seem quite loud enough. Perhaps a "tone" to alert one that she's going to speak would be helpful.

The second suggested improvement would be better visuals for assembling the mounting device and attaching to the Navman (e.g. adjusting the locking screw cap on its back to keep it from turning from side to side while driving).

Pros:
Durable
Cons:
Low Quality
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

Well, the price reeled me in... it seemed like a perfect product. Easy to use, easy to mount, load and clear voice directions BUT when it came to the directions boy were the totally off. Inaccurate as can be. I tested it and found that it would announce streets and locations such as shopping centers, gas stations or ets as being right near me or "TO MY LEFT" when they were no where in sight ( at least not for another 2-3 miles and then the worst was ending up in a old broken down gas station that was according to the NAVMAN, " my nearest shopping center... yehh this is either a terrible inaccurate product or just not up to date... sorry... its going back!

Great Basic GPS Unit

Pros:
Durable, Good Value, High Quality
Bottom Line:

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

I have a terrible sense of direction, and have used other, more well known GPS units, both of which were okay -- did the job, but they were a bit more complicated than I would like. I wanted to get a basic, affordable GPS unit that would get me from here to there with ease. I found this one on sale, and am very happy with my choice. It is very easy to use, has a terrific on-dash mount that is very sturdy and which is so much better than the window suction that I have used in the past (although you can use this on the window too). It is very self-eplanatory, and has some nice little extras that, by the reviews I read, I wasn't expecting to find on this unit. I gave it a thorough workout this past weekend, driving from place to place, and it worked flawlessly. Finds satellites very quickly. I find it easier to use than the others I have used in the past. This is a GREAT deal for someone looking for a good, easy, affordable, on-the-mark unit that will get them where they need to go.

I purchased this for one of my vehicles that did not have built in navigation and I must say for the price it performed flawlessly. The F15 performed quicker and more accurate that the nav that came with my BMW 745i. I wish that navman supported this model with updates but for the time being its a very good unit. Very quick and even lists the rest stops on the NJTP as being on the map. Dont let the cheap price fool you this is a full fledged nav unit and the 3D is great!!!

I would recommend this, but with one caveat: the website does NOT support the F15, so be warned. I went on a test run with it, & half the POIs were out of date, yet others were current up to at least a month or two - ???
If you've never owned a GPS before & don't want to spend a lot of money, this is a good starter unit. It's bare bones basic...and that's about it.

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

[$] It finds the satellites in about 3 seconds when started up and and about the same after coming out of a tunnel. It takes about 2-2.5 seconds to reroute when you have to go off the route it planned. For me it took me about 5 minutes to learn every feature and how to use it with out looking at the owners manual. The only drawback it that it doesn't state the street names but it tells you when to turn about 15 yards before. The companys web site doesn't offer much for this model but the owners manual in PDF. Overall I like it and I'm keeping it because it works for me.

I had this model since 6/08. My only previous expierence with a gps was a garvin. My verdict:
Great price relative to others. I've used it out of state with no problem. It has been 98% accurate. It's the other 2% that makes me not completely sold.
My usage is 100% urban/business. I have expierenced a time or two when streets that have been around over a year. There has also been times
when it directed me to make a u-turn when I knew
this was not correct. I'm concerned about its
future updating capabilities. I emailed the company and received a
vague response, only that it is currently up to date. Having said all the above, I like it a lot more than I dislike it and have had no problems in
recommending this model.

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

Used it first time to test it on an auto trip from San Mateo to Bodega Bay N. Calif. It quickly re-calculated routes when I changed streets. When I stopped for gas in another city unfamiliar to me--it guided me back to the freeway--talk about reducing stress with my passengers!
I recommend initially scrolling through the tutorial basics on the GPS as you will first increase volume..maybe change voice, learn how to work display to show eta, mph, etc..
I looked at TOM-TOM, Garmin, etc but couldn't resist Radio Shack's price.
It doesn't announce streets (text announce) but "talks" you through upcoming turns, street exits, arrivals. On the map it guided me one house off of my actual address- but hey-- this is civilian use. It (a default option) changes display at night, too.
A soft case and spare USB cable for software upgrade would be nice. Enjoy!

this is the best I have ever used. compare to some I had before, Navigon 7100 (Good Looking Only, no good), Magellan (Low temperature doesn't work), This one is amazing, many essential funcitions(not Bluetooth), Good price, easy use and portable. I lost my Navigon 7100 month ago by broken car's window, Many people watch your valueble stuff inside the car, so this one I can easy put in my pocket after each useing, I won't leave anything in my car.

This is a wicked good GPS. For the price you pay you get quite a bit. The mount is very sturdy and stays on where you put it. The maps are great and up to date. There is nothing on the navman website yet, but when I spoke to the guys at RadioShack they knew all about Navman. They are mostly from Europe and this is there 1st GPS in the USA. They will have support and an online store for maps etc up soon. This is one of the best deals out there even for full price but if it is on sale it is even better. If you need something more than getting from point A to B with simple easy to use menus then look at something else but this works great for what it is...a GPS!!

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

Compared to other Navigation devices I have used there is nothing outstanding or that significantly distinguishes this device from other units as having any advantage other than the price. Even in major cities it has frequently deviated from the initially planned course and has directed me to turn into a tree or someones front lawn for example. It's worse in rural areas and the route preference settings don't really help in most circumstances. When I set it to the fastest time (should read shortest time instead) it will, for example, direct me to drive 181 miles when I know the most common sense route is only 105 miles. This is just one example and it has happened many times. I tried to download updates to this device and the Navman site does not list the F-15. When I emailed them about it they kept referring me to other sources but it appears even NAVMAN was not familiar with this product. You get what you pay for in this case; don't waste your money on this as it is not reliable if you need to be on time for a business or other important matters do not rely on this product. Get something else.

Took this unit on a trip to Maryland and DC. It was very good for getting us to our destination, either fastest, shortest or a mixture. Unfortunately, your stuck with the POI's that are programmed in. There were hardly any DC memorials and museums programmed in. Very few rest stops indicated across OH, PA & MD. This is a vey basic unit. Still undecided if it's worth keeping.

Works great overall! I did have an address I wanted to find in the mountains, it struggled, but I was able to set a waypoint and get back to it pretty easily. I looked online for updates and the unit almost does not exist, this model must be an RS only model number.

I did notice that when plugged into the laptop, it has nearly a GB of RAM and you can add about 188MB of data to it. I assume that is for future updates, but the only ones I can find are for Europe, which does us yanks little good..

For $100 or so, this is an excellent value ... I bought two of them, one for a gift and one for myself. Some features not obvious ... touch one of the POIs and the unit provides detailed information. Touch the upper left ETA display and detailed information is displayed. Wish the unit would shut off and turn on automatically (with power from the car) rather than revert to battery power ... a 2 minute timer to off would be nice. Despite minor issues, this is an excellent unit for the money ... I'm impressed! (Yes, I have used a number of other GPS units from Garmin, Magellan)

I used it for 2 days. It could not find any address I put in as a destination. It would not even let me put in my home address. Mapped a road that was not even there, it was dead end road. And did not show roads that have been open for over 2 years. The maps and POI's are seriously outdated and can't be updated. Even at $99 after a mail in rebate it's seriously not worth the money. I returned mine on the 2nd day. Don't waste your time buying this product!!

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

Out of the box and ready to use, this device is perfect for anyone who can figure out how to touch a screen and follow directions. It seems to find a satellite lock pretty quickly, but it gets lost if you sit in a parking lot or an area where a road isn't listed.

Some have expressed concern about not finding information at the Navman site. It does not even list the F15 as a model they sell (it goes from F10 to F20). I think this will shake itself out in the wash, so to speak, once Mio and Navman complete their merger activities. Both the F15 and the Mio Digiwalker C2XX series GPS units look scarily the same, and utilize the same user interface. Even if this turns out to be a 'locked' unit, I think it's still well worth the just over a Benjamin in price.

If you're looking for your GPS unit to also be your Bluetooth connector, traffic radar, MP3 player, etc., save your money and buy up. For many people who are just looking for reliable directions, this unit is perfect!

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

For the price, this seems comparable to the more expensive ones out there, however, there is no way to upgrade this. It works pretty well, and does a good job of telling you when to turn and where to go. There are no instructions on the Navman site for this unit, or updates. Plugging in the unit to the PC only charges the battery. I thought that some software would have installed, but nothing is on there. It appeared to me that Radio Shack had this model specially made for them. If you don't mind the maps getting outdated in the future or plan on upgrading the unit, then this is a great unit, otherwise I would suggest you look at other brand or model.

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

I have been using GPS devices since they came out years ago and still have many of them. I now have a great collection. Of the current products on the market, I must conceed to this little, inexpensive unit the best GPS bargain in town. I presently own 5 various Garmin Nuvi's. I have owned all the latest TomTom's, and several Magellans. The Navman F15 beats them all. Maps are up-to-date, voice is loud and clear, and routing is near perfect. Voice assisted navigation does include some text-to-speech, mostly major highways and roads, both state and federal. I have found the tele-atlas maps to be more detailed and accurate than any from the major competitors. The map detail is unbelievable including parks, streams, rivers, lakes, etc. All these little details help orient you when traveling. Of course the much touted important features such as a world clock, currency exchanger, farenheit to celcius conversion, best fishing times, etc. are missing from this device.(Snicker, snicker). Most POI's are current and there are millions available. I went back to the store and bought a second unit as a backup. I would have given this baby ten stars but I was limited to five. Run, don't walk to your nearest Radio Shack store to get one of these before they are all gone. Honest!

Comments about Navman Navman F15 3.5 Touchscreen GPS Receiver:

I work as a salesman for Radio Shack, and the Navman is what I decided to go for; I'm very happy that I did! It is fast, accurate, has a good screen, nice volume, and stands up to the south Texas heat. The only thing I am having trouble finding is anything about this particular model on the Navman website. It is a European company, and the F15 is a U.S.A. only model (and all the models online reflect that since it is again, European), and they don't have a product manual, software, or map updates as of yet for it. However, I contacted the company, and they e-mailed me and said that all that will be available in time for us to be able to update our F15's to the 2009 maps. Great company service and customer care, great quality product, extremely easy to use, this is the best we sell, don't get anything else!!!

You can do a lot worse for a lot more money. If you pass up this deal, you'll regret it!!!

I do a lot of driving. On the average of 40K/year. I have been putting off buying a GPS because I'm just so cheap. If I knew all that this could do a year ago I would have bought the same unit for twice the price. So far my only complaint is that for some reason on one occasion I typed in the address and it just locked up. I could write the pros longer than Radioshack would let me. On fathers day they ran a sale and I picked this up for[$]. It is the handiest device I own. I dont need the interent via phone when I have this in my car. Every interest point that I could ever need and it points in the right direction in a flash, even if you miss your turn it corrects in seconds. I thought it would have a couple like McDonalds but it even has all the mom and pop places. I know that there are others offering more, but I dont need the road name pronounced when it says "turn right in 500 yards" and then a warning saying "turn right" at the moment I need to hear it. Overall a great product, especially when you consider the cost.

I got the unit for a unbelievably low price and I absolutely love it. It is a lot of GPS in a very small package. Uses tele-atlas maps which are light years better than the navteq ones that higher-end manufacturers use. Runs very similarly to the higher priced Mio units for a much better price. Would recommend 100%.
