When I bought it, I had alot of static. I took it to the place of purchase and they showed me which radio station to put it on. I was told I could also buy an intennae booster, but chose not to. I Have not had a problem since. I use it alot traveling from Ky to Tx and have never had any problem. When entering new states, you have to locate the new stations. I am buying one for my husband's birthday today!! He loves Led-Zep! The zep and AC/DC stations influenced me to buy it for him.

Dont know some found it hard to install. You only run the antenna cable. My grandchild could do that. If you get bad reception you need to get a fm direct hook up.I also purchased the boombox so I can get Sirius wherever I go. :-)

Easy to install, use the vent adapter and you won't get the sticky tape stuff on your dash when it falls off. For best results plug directly into aux jack. I won't drive without my Sirius Blues 74!

Well I purchased my unit and took it home to install,(this is the 3rd plug and play radio Ive installed) The unit this model was replacing was a XACT Jockey 2 (excellent unit! To bad its no longer made)

After a 2 hrs install, (running all the cables through the dash; power, ant, and fm transmit ant) the unit was installed on the dash of my new f150 just above the radio.

I thought man this is going to be great! I turned it on,and set the station & turned on the fm transmitter. I could barley hear the weather person talking. so I turned up the audio still nothing. I moved the fm transmitter wire around on the windshield ( looked very tacky like a cracked window) ahh a little better I could now hear the person talking through the fm noise.

I ened up pulling the fmtransmitter wire out of the dash and wrapped it around the antenna mast and wala perfect crystal clear sound!

Another 2hrs taking the dash apart and removing the cables and repackaging the unit. I called Sirius and told them I was sending it back for a full refund.

Anyone who calls this unit "Plug & Play" is lieing to you.! you have a pwr wire, ant wire & a fm transmitter wire that have to be run. Then the unit is a docking station that has 3 different ways of mounting options. (Again Im used to a unit that has a pwr wire and ant wire, and can be placed anywhere using a universal cell phone clip. "True Plug & Play" and can be transferred from one car to another in 2 minutes with out having to purchase docking stations).

Would I recommend this unit to some one? a Friend? Absolutely NOT....

Save your self some time and money, find a better unit!!

This unit is replacing an original Starmate ST-1. Since the F.C.C. made the manufacturers cut F.M. transmitter power, the new units are virtually worthless. Even with the F.M. antenna extender you get nothing but static. My only complaint is that this is advertised as "Plug and Play" which is false. To make this work properly will require about [$] additional labor and parts. It will need hardwiring to antenna with a separate adapter. Also, will require a new 5V home poser adapter as the old 12V won't work anymore.

As a asst store manager for RadioShack I wanted to see exactly how good/bad this radio was for the small price and how easy/hard the installation was going to be for my customers. I read and reread the directions as taught before attempting the installation. Following the instructions I had my unit completly installed in 15 minutes. Rear Fold down seats are a blessing here. I then tuned the car radio to the desired empty frequency. Then I turned the car radio off. I tuned the fm transmitor to said frequency, turned the car fm radio back on and let it scan until it hit the desired set frequency and it was up and running in 2 minutes. I did experience some static while driving in the Washington DC area, but I then placed a FM antenea adaptor on my car radio (this uses your car radio antenea and sirius radio antenea) and lo and behold the static is gone. I wish I thought about trying a RF choke on the antenea cord before installing the adaptor. It would have been cheaper. The adaptors cost around $30.00 and most places charge around $35.00 if the radio is already mounted. I also purchased the home kit to listen to the radio on my home stereo. Make sure your home stereo is satellite ready. With your paid subscription you also receive internet access of sirius radio at no extra charge.

This is my first experience with Sirius Radio and I absolutely love it! The installation was a bit tricky, as I used the plug-n-play rather than having the radio hardwired into my car. I did not want to use the outside antenna, so tried to use the antenna on the inside of the windshield. After several failed attempts, I called Customer Service. She instructed me to use the outside antenna, exactly where to place it, she sent the activation signal and I was all set! Highly recommended!

this thing is great for the price...it can pick up all of the sirius channels, yet does not cost nearly as much. sure you do get some extra features such as the sports tickers and s-seek to store your favorite songs, but i just scroll through my favorites with the presets. for all those who say it gets bad reception, its not your sirius radio, but your car radio. in that case get a fm direct adapter.

Cheap, with the option of plug-and-play (with the purchase of a cradle), but a great starter! My only issue is that I live in an area in between two metropolitan zones so it is not uncommon to get radio flak from distant stations, thus forcing me to change the FM frequency on my Sirius receiver (especially during strange weather patterns). Eventually I will just hardwire the system to my FM radio and do away with the mini-transmitter altogether.
The station selection is awesome (though my setting is pretty much Pure Jazz 72).

My wife purchased the SV3-TK1 Sirius radio for me for my 55th birthday and I love it. I have not yet installed it in my car because I see no specific reason to damage either my car or the new radio. I have a Mercedes-Benz SLK and when the hard top goes down, I feared that I would rip the antenna wire off the radio. However, by placing the antenna on the side of the trunk, half way down to the end of the opening, I am able to have my top down without disturbing the radio reception or damaging the car. I love my wife and my car and now I also have become very fond of this new wonderful toy. It is GREAT gift!!!!! Robert B. Portney, MD aka [@]
