I love my Garmin 260. It has been there for me when I travel. Went from NY to NC via Norfolk VA. Gave me the perfect route, did not skip a beat. I can carry it with me wherever I go. I've used it as a passenger traveling with friends. My nephew is so impressed with it that he wants me to get one for his mom. I never leave home without it. I love just putting in the address, and off I go. I tell my friends just give me the address, my Garmin will take care of the rest.

No surprises the unit has worked as advertised. Great price [...] This is my second refurbished Garmin, a Nuvi 680. I have never had an issue with either of the units. When I first received the device I was able to download a free map upgrade with a cable I had from the first unit. My 80 year old mother is using the Nuvi 260 with no problems. She likes voice announcing the street name at the turn.

I think major routes will be fine. Specific addresses in our local area are plotted by circuitous -- once, by non existent and I mean never existed -- routes. It's at the low end of the product line and therefore probably not the best of the Garmins but it will do the job for me.

My brother swears by his Garmin which is why I bought mine. Unfortunately, the 260 I bought has been a huge disappointment. It will only turn on about 50% of the time when fully charged or when plugged into the dash. AND it can't usually find a satellite when it does turn on. And I am not just talking about a few minutes of wait time. There have been multiple times when it has been on for 45 minutes and still couldn't find a satellite. What's the point of having a GPS? I am taking it back and won't buy a Garmin product ever again. Don't buy this useless piece of junk!

I have traveled all a lot recently, and my Garmin has not led me astray yet! In fact, it has found faster routes to places I travel frequently than I was aware of. I also love the fact that it acquires satellites so quickly-i can turn it on and by the time my car is running and I am bucked in, it is ready to go. The only bad thing I can think of is the battery life. On the other hand, it is always in my car when I am using it, so that hasn't been much of an issue.

Love this, not as talkative as other gps's gives you time to maneuver on highway without distracting driver. Numbers sometimes are not clear, as in 90 sounds like 19, and you have to listen carefully if not watching the screen.
Exits and turns are also written in large print at top for verification. I really like this one.

I just moved into a small town and got this item to deliver pizza faster. It doesn't have half the roads on the map, or doesn't have the correct names. It shows "invisible" roads- roads that aren't there, or are blocked off. I want to update the maps to see if that'll help, but its way to pricey to do so, and I don't want to spend over 70 bucks if everything is going to be wrong anyway. Are all GPSS maps so expensive?? Another thing, is that it can't find many of the addresses that I type in. It must be because it doesn't have the road on the map!

I use it for personal navigation, when I am towing for my job as well as in my volunteer fire and EMS duties. Very good unit, the computer generated voice is easy to understand. Very clear and bright display. Map is very detailed, has many very small streets in my area, including unnamed service roads. The only con I have found to date is a limited battery life of about 2 hours.

I've never owned one of these but it's one of the most important purchases I've ever made as far as my vehicle is concerned. I waited for the prices to come down and it was well worth it. The reviews I read here really helped in making the decision to buy. Glad I listened to the majority. [...] followed the simple directions and it worked like a charm - clear as day. If by chance you deviate from the route it's giving you, it "re-calculates" the route and continues giving directions so you're never at a lost. It's also fun to check what's available in the menu to visit places you've never been before and given precise directions on how to get there. This is definitely an excellent piece of equipment for those who only occasionally need a GPS and possibly for the more advanced users as well. Either way, for the features, the price can't be beat.

This is a great product. My sister, brother, and now I all have it! It was easy to install in my car, the software is very user-friendly. The directions are great and if you go off route, it recalibrates your location really fast. I have yet to use it for a long road trip, but just getting around town it has come in handy when driving to new locations. I haven't had any issues and neither have my siblings who have the same product. (and we all bought from different vendors!)

Wonderful product. Very useful for finding places...like hole-in-the-wall restaurants that have been recommended by friends. The Garmin 260 has the ability to choose the fastest route or the most direct route. Would encourage the other user who was having difficulties with the route to check his/preferences settings. I would purchase this product again.

I have only had mine a few weeks. It works great, it's easy to use and it acquires satellites lightening quick (even inside my house). It seems to come up with some interesting routes at times though that don't seem efficient but will get you there.

im an over the road pro driver, the gps system you have routes me every way but the best way,, ive tested the gps aginst map quest. map quest is a more direct route,,and in the shortest time,, my advice recheck or re do the route system,,i drive coast to coast, and border, and ive tested the 250 and it failed terribly,, I am going to return it to raido shack,, and get my money back
