The item was a "refurb". I bought one for my boyfriend a few years back when they were a lot of $$$..paid around $300.00 for it. We have used it a lot! I love that when you are somewhere you don't know and need gas, food, hospitals, etc..everything is right there on the Garmin. What I found out was that I wanted one for myself, since he would take his when traveling. He uses this all over the US..with NO problems at all. Maps are updated frrom the PC no problem. I found this refurbished unit here at Radio Shack for [$] and couldn't pass it up. I was leary of the "refurbished" idea. But tried it anyways. What I recieved was a BRAND NEW looking unit! I was really surprised. It workes just perfectly. I am on my 4th month with it with no problems. I would HIGHTLY recommend this for anyone. My daughter is going off to college next year..and you bet she will have one!

The Nuvi 350 is the best out of the box unit for APRS (Fleet Management capable) units. As well as providing great directions you can track other vehicles in real time, even moving objects, when connected to a radio receiver.

I used a pc program before. When I read online reviews about this, I had to buy it. I am not disappointed. It is very easy to use. The mounting that comes with it has been called less than adequate, but not really. All you have to do is treat it with care, rather than tugging on it and it works great. Hardest thing was figuring out how to attach the device to the mount. You have to push hard to seat the device (it won't break) and voila, it's on. I love it and bought 2 more for gifts.

Bought this unit because it was one of the last ones available with the earphone plug, I needed this option to connect to the system on my Gold Wing. I just completed a trip across the US and it did exactly what I needed without any undo stress. I planned my routes on the computer then entered the specific locations to ensure a back road route instead of the fastest way. Definitely not waterproof but works just as well in my pocket as it does in the mount.

I got this as a gift used it for a couple of trips and it gave me the longest way to go and also told me the wrong direction on numerous occasions,I am very unhappy with this unit.
If my wife was to use it I know that she would be lost, hard to use or change locations while in travel, have to spell or store locations that you want. very very unhappy with it, and I was told that it was one of the best out there. I am going back to a tom-tom it has better details about your trip, travel time, speed, and also eta also a better log of favorite places

Overall its a good stuff. But there are a couple of observations - sometimes it takes more than a minute to calculate the route and the mounting stuff is not firm and rigid. Otherwise its great.

The nuvi is slow acquiring the satellites, but once it gets them, it gives accurate directions. The voice feature gives you plenty of warning before a turn. The MP3 player feature works well.

The only real complaint I have concerns the windshield mount. It works fine on a sunny or cloudy day, but when the windshield wipers go on, it can't hold. I would recommend getting a beanbag/friction mount.

Great for the price. It looks like new. Could not tell it's a refurb unit. Very Happy. Only thing it doesn't do which I would like is a track log, or breadcrumb trail of the path taken. Other than that, It's a keeper for the price. Custom POI's are easy to set up using POIEdit and POI Loader (Both free!).

This is my first GPS. I have used my friend's Garmin nuvi 360 and wanted to buy it. I realized that I don't need the bluetooth function of 360. So, I decided to buy 350. This refubuished 350 is very good for price. I do not have any problem. I could update new version of map with registration for free, although it took 1-2 hours. I used this for my chicago trip. There were lots of constructions in the chicao area but this 350 showed alternative routes very well. I highly recommend this unit and update the map.

This has a smaller screen than the 255. However I can see it just fine mounted on the dash. I really use the voice directions more than I thought I would. they are very loud and clear. You would never know it was refurbished.

I purchased this GPS for a girls trip to Austin and San Antonio Texas. It was GREAT! I went thru Austin with no problems. I am horrible at giving and receiving directions so this was perfect! CONS: its really not loud enough. And b/c it was refurbised, I had to contact Garmin and have the GPS registered in my name before I could download the updated maps. I didn't know this before and spent all day trying to figure out why it would it wouldn't download the maps. It took about 6 hours to completely download everything, but it was worth it! GREAT product, would def purchase again!

While I think it has a problem with accuracy with street numbers once you're on the street, it is still a MUCH better GPS than the one in my Mercedes. This is a MUST: Be sure to upgrade to the newest SW and maps. Downloading takes a long time. I like the feature where every cross street is identified as you drive to it. Voice directions are quite clear but some routes are long when using the quickest time setting. Adding POI's was easy. At just [$], it is a real bargain. While it says refurbished, it looks and operates as new with all new accessories included. Register your unit online to get current map FREE.

I had tagged the Nuvi 350 as everything I needed some time ago, saw the refurb sale and bought one. It does everything I need or currently want. It takes supplemental map downloads to internal memory no problem (I replaced 2009 with 2010 North America). I don't know what I'm doing wrong to get more maps onto an SD card, but will figure it out..., though it's not a deal until I plan on loading all of Europe to it.

The only thing I did not like about this was it's response to acquiring satellites...Have to restart it couple of times to make it to work, a few times, but otherwise it is really good. Had been using gmaps, and some of the routest suggested were really taking me around the world. Garmin took me to the correct place in straight simple directions and much faster. this was a purchase for my son that is starting college this year in Tenn. I had a 360 and was really impressed with it. The 350 will do all the same, just not bluetooth (this is not important to us anyway). We used the 350 on the trip from NC to Tenn and it worked great! A great purchase for the money; although it is a refurbished unit it looks/works like new.

This product is easy to use and gets me where I am going easily. It came with all the accessories that a new one comes with. The Garmin came with a 2008 map program, but when I registered it, Garmin gave me the option to update the maps to the current 2010 version for free. The process took about 6 hours (broadband) but it was worth the wait. Other than that, the product is terrific!

The unit was very easy to set up and operate right from the box. The maps were a little out of date. However, visiting Garmin's website revealed that I was able to update the unit by simply registering on their website and downloading the units software. Be forewarned, updating the maps does take a while. It states that it takes approximately 2 hrs and they were right. The MP3 player is a bit flakey though. The interface leaves something to be desired with a comparable standalone MP3 player. That being said, the MP3 is likely the least used function and is not a deal breaker for me as this was not why I bought it. The navigation is very decent. I tend to be a road warrior and this unit performs well both in the Rural and Urban trips. Not always do the routes make sense but nearly all GPS units have this problem. For the money and functionality of this unit I would give this a 4 out of 5 stars. I would have given this a 5 star rating if the unit had 4 inch screen. Past that I would definitely recommend this unit.

I moved to Chicago a couple of weeks ago and the second day of driving around i got lost 3 times. Needless to say my Garmin has been a life saver. It's fairly accurate and it gives me piece of mine. I was hesitant to buy a refurbised item, but everything about this item is like a new one. I have Nuvi 360 that was purchased new and bought this this one for my husband. It works just as good as a new one. I am a realtor and it works so well in every aspect. The only con is when putting in a single address, it pops up what it thinks is the street before I finish typing and it is not the right one. However if I type it to find in map source it is there. Otherwise ... a superb GPS.

Keep in mind that the NUVI 3XX and 6XX units were originally designed as $1000+ devices. This is a truly high quality, classic, no-nonsense design. In many ways, for this size and price GPS, it's all downhill from here. Newer models have the bling, but no there's no substance. The GPS chipset in these is not bested by current models, so why pay more for less?

In the urban Seattle and Vancouver, BC areas it is sensational. At first I doubted the instructions then came to realize the 350 NUVI understood 'one-way' streets and had better solutions than I. Every intersection it understood the parameters of turn-choices.

Like the touch screen and intuitive menus. I used the detour function the other day when traffic was stopped on the interstate. It got me around the traffic and to my appointment on time! I was concerned the 3.5" screen would be too small when I ordered it. However, it's plenty big enough and doesn't impede my view of the road. I would recommend the 3.5" screen.

When it is first turned on it takes a few minutes to acquire the satellite, but once up and running it is fine. I like the fact that it announces the actual street names. It makes it possible to avoid having to look at the screen itself, which is somewhat difficult to see in sunlight. With that said, it seems to be better than other brands I own or have tried.

I bought this gps to use both on my scooter and in the car because I'm very bad with directions and get lost easily. I have yet to test it on my scooter. So far I've only used it in the car and in pedestrian mode. It usually works well but when you walk next to large buildings it has a hard time finding satellites. I like that it's small so I can keep it on me at all times. Overall it has many great functions and it works great in open areas. It's probably one of the best GPS receivers you can find for such a low price.

decent set to replace c550 which was great in all counts (but the size !) but nothing comparable to c550.For starters the audio is so poor, cannot hear a word clearly even at high volume. The Menu of flattened out so it is harder to navigate it back home ( 3 clicks compared to one in C550) . overall decent value for money in sub 100 category.

i found this gps to be fairly reliable. compact, easy to use and has gotten me to some great places! had one issue with a shut down and it wouldn't turn back on (i still dont know why). some people complain about sound quality, but i do not agree -- sound is fine. a little slow on finding "places of interest", but overall good performance on this product.

We see that this model has been discontinued. Not a big problem, because we can still download maps, etc. We added the dash mount pad. We plan ahead and pre-enter addresses we plan to visit before we leave on a trip. We have been happy with the product; it has successfully helped us navigate numerous places near and far. We once tried to enter the wrong entrance at a resort; however, the Garmin obviously didn't know about restrictions, and we did soon find the correct entrance. We find some pronunciations laughable, but all-in-all, we are quite satisfied.

I use this GPS daily for work. It saves me a lot of time and trouble finding addresses in several towns and cities where I would otherwise be digging thru city guides and maps. It acquires satellites and calculates routes very quickly. I like that the verbal prompts include the street names. My work truck is noisy and I have to keep the volume at max to hear it. If I don't hear it clearly, the same info is displayed at the top of the screen which is nice.
The only minor problem so far is that the unit froze up twice. Both times this happened while parked under a gas station canopy. I suppose the link to the satellite was broken by the canopy. Pushing the reset button on the back fixed it.
Refurbished units like this one are a great deal. There's no way I would spend hundreds of dollars on a new high end GPS when this one does everything I need.

I started my travel from Central California to Pasco, Washington which was a fifteen hour drive. In no time I figured out how to use my Garmin Nuvi. The feature I loved most about the GPS was it stated the names of streets I was going to come across. This became very helpful when I was looking for a particular hotel in a large city driving through unfamiliar territory. It was very accurate, being able to find local restaurants, attractions and gas stations, which lowered my stress level when I was driving in the middle of nowhere. At one point I got a flat tire and needed my direct location along with the nearest car repair shop. I was able to give them my position through my GPS and everything worked out great. It gave me wrong directions once on my trip when I was on the interstate telling me to turn off, but I new I had to stay on the interstate since I studied the map earlier. One minute later it recalculated and I was on my way. Being on the road for over a week and not getting lost once is worth the investment.

I got this for bicycle riding. I go on long rides and sometimes make a wrong turn. I wanted something that let me know where I was so I could get back on the right track.
I thought I could use a handheld gps (garmin legend) but the screen is too small for this use.
Very frustrating.
I saw the refurb 350 for $100 and thought that it would do better ... If nothing else I could use it in the car.
My first experience with it this weekend was very good. It is compact enought to fit in my bike jersey pocket. It locked in when I used it and was able to see where I was and what I needed to do. So served its purpose.

The Garmin Nuvi series are usually very easy to use, and the 350 is no exception. It took me mere minutes to have nearly the entire device figured out. The 350 acquires addresses quickly, and finds the route in about 3-5 seconds for in the area distances. It lets you know which way to turn a few times before you turn... usually around 0.5, 0.2 miles and 500 feet before you turn. It has the ability to find nearby restaurants and other attractions with ease.

The volume could be a little louder, especially if you have music in the background. The system for typing in addresses are a little different than expected, but not much of a problem. Look up some reviews on the 350 for more info on the address system. It has taken me 6+ minutes to acquire satellites, but this depends on where you are too, and I live in the country... I don't blame the device for this.

the 350 is the best quality Nuvi for newer users without buying extra stuff that may not be needed [such as bluetooth and traffic control].

I wanted a GPS that was under $150 and be my assistant on the road. I still believe nothing beats a good map. My work takes me all over the place, especially cities I'm unfamiliar with. So in that sense it does the job accurately and takes me where I need to go. The feature I really like is that it can identify local businesses. That way I don't have to drive aimlessly around looking for a gas station, food, etc.
I've noticed in another review that someone mentioned that the software is a couple of years old. When driving around some parts of my neighborhood, I noticed that the unit didn't pick up on some of the roads/area. It didn't bother me too much since it doesn't affect me too much. But I'm wondering if it would make a difference if I was in an unknown area. It seems though it takes you where you need to go, and I guess that's the ultimate purpose.
The battery life is a little short, but it comes with a car charger, so it shouldn't be a problem. What I really don't like is that Garmin charges an exorbitant amount to update maps.

At first this seemed like the cat's meow, but after a year of use, I find it very disappointing. I use it a lot finding homes to interview for my work. It often sends me to non-existent streets or onto streets that have been blocked off since the last century. Took it on a vacation to Toronto; we stayed at a hotel near the airport. From the airport it took me downtown in half hour via freeway. From the hotel it took me through slow city street that took at least an hour to go to the same place. It often doesn't know where it is, and when going under underpasses on the freeway, it thinks I am on a city street. I would NEVER buy this brand again. I hope tom-tom or magellan are better products.

The Garmin 350 has a horizontal plate that contains the satelite antena. It flips out and finds the satelites quicker than my wife's garmin 320. I am glad I purchased it. I got mine as a refurbished unit and it is absolutely like brand new. It has paid for itself a few times over because it kept me from getting lost a few times.
You will not regret buying this one.

This is my third garmin nuvi....it is wonderful. We use it on trips and when I check out estate sales and don't know the area. For the low cost of this unit you get features of a much more expensive GPS.
I mainly use the Garmin Nuvi 350 to find the quickest routes between customers. It has already paid for itself by giving me routes I did not know existed. Like many others have said they, and now I, do not know how we got by without their GPS before. Above the regular GPS navigation the "Nice Little Extras" for me are the .jpeg Picture Viewer and the audio book option for those longer trips out of state.

Bought the Nuvi 350 after reading the great reviews and seeing the attractive price. Obviously it's an older design for Garmin but it seems to be one of the most well liked. So far I've had great luck, this model came with the 2009 updates which I was happy about, though 2010 would've been better, since I bought it in 2010. I only wish the volume could be a little louder, especially when you're driving down the interstate with a car full of people. The volume is not low just wished it was louder. Overall, very happy!

I used to use the GPS on my cell phone - small screen monthly fee blah blah. [...] had it up and running in minutes. Getting the initial satelite signal took a couple of minutes - but the literature tells you that plus it comes up on the screen so I'm not sure why others found this as a con. I'm not fond of the windsheild mount but I can get one of those bean bag dash mounts and I should be fine with that. I don't know why I waited so long!

Took it to LA for biz. Worked well and got me everywhere I needed to go effectively. At times, it took a very long time to acquire the satellites and, the mounting fell off the windshield daily, watch out for that!!
The device has my home on the wrong side of the street. I don't know if that is the machine or whether it is what has been reported by city mapping people to the other sources.
I am happy with the price I paid and the overall value. I would recommend a buy again but only if there was nothing else that had a better mount.

We've recently moved to a new area and find this especially helpful in navigating around unfamiliar territory. It is our second one as the first was stolen from our car. I recommend not leaving it in sight and removing the windshield bracket just in case. Lock it in the glovebox, trunk, or take it with you.

Works well except that it takes forever for it to acquire a satellite. The pop out antenna is also a mystery and I wonder what the benefits are since it can't seem to locate satellites faster. The unit itself works well, is easy to operate, reliable and once you register it with Garmin, Garmin gives the buyer the latest City Navigator to load. The windshield mounting arm comes in two pieces which is another oddity. So, even with the issues that I've mentioned I still recommend it because I bought a refurbished unit at 1/3 the sticker price. Definately not worth the full retail price but worth every penny of the refurbished price.

This particular GPS device that I bought was not a wise choice. "My GPS was a refurbished item". I got it for a relatively cheaper price, but I am paying for it now. The GPS stops working (I can say - it reboots) while on the road. Acquiring satellites was also a problem. I am basically stuck :-( with a bad piece of wonderful technology. I don't blame Radioshack, but myself.

Bottomline, don't ever buy a refurbished item, unless you consider yourself very very lucky.

Works great. Drove from Texas to NY with no problems. Sometimes it gives a route that is 1 mile shorter but 3 turns more. In rural areas sometimes it doesn't know L from R or at a T that isn't on the Garmin.

I used the unit once so far and it was very hand in the rural roads. I blindly followed the directions and the unit was very handy especially when it was late night driving.
I haven't gone through all the setting yet but I would like to pre-determine the route and set it to go instead of the route the unit tells me. So far I haven't seen that option yet.

I usually make Yahoo Map printouts when taking long trips, but then I have to refer to the paper. I like having the nuvi that "talks" to me. It gives me estimated arrival time. It also automatically reroutes when I make detour, which is handy.

The unit can tell you where food, gas, lodging, hospitals, attractions, shopping, entertainment, and many others along your route as well as categories you specify. Has SD card slot so you can use the unit to play MP3s and has Audible Book Player loaded so you can play books by Audible.

For the computer savvy, you can download different "cars" from their website. They have holiday themes, some hobby themes, and some fancier cars. Can also use pedestrian mode for when you are walking.

I would compare it to my cell phone. Before I got one I didn't see why I would need one. Now I can't live without it. Same with the nuvi. I love it.

I really like the spoken directions - all my other gps units are handheld so don't have this feature. The mp3 player and photo features are nice to have.

This refurbished unit was as new. All that differentiated it was the generic-looking outer package.

This, my second nuvi 350, is for my wife's car.

I like the product very much: however I am concerned with the stability of the mount especially during the hot months ahead.

This unit was purchased to be used with a Ham Radio for APRS (tracking other Hams). It is perfect for that use. I also used it for a trip from SC to Arlington VA, the unit was accurate (even when I detoured) and got me to my destination with no problems.

A great GPS for a great price. This is the ONLY GARMIN that can do FLEET mapping via the AGULANT USB to Serial cable.

This unit has a track record of dying once the warranty expires. then you must go to garmin to get it fixed or replaced at a cost of course

This is a great product! Excellnt Price! Will help out a lot with road trips and just going a short distance to somewhere that you have never been before! Very easy to use and user friendly! I would recomend highly!

I've had one just like this for a couple years. I dropped it and half of the screen quit working. It was less expensive to buy a reconditioned unit than to have mine repaired, as a bonus I got updated maps. I am not very happy with the maps the unit uses. There is a road where I live thats been there for 8 years and it was not update on the map program. The latest one was updated. Over all its a great unit, more things on it that I would never use.

My son was using one of this and I had to get one for myself this is a great product and has helped me a lot
