I purchased these about 2 years ago for transcription work. They are great! The sound quality is good, as well as the noise canceling feature. They fit comfortably and are not too heavy. My favorite part is that they're wireless, which allows freedom of movement while I'm working.

I have these headphones & accidently put them in their base with the switches in the wrong setting. It seems like they over heated or shorted out! We had the older version of this same headset. It lasted for years. I bought this because of the price, and my rechargeable batteries would fit it! I was pleasantly surprised when it came with several updates. A more comforatable and adjustable headset. The earphones do not press directly on your ears as did my last ones. Instead their is a surrounding cushioned circle that rests around the ear. Silly looking, but comfortable! Also, we don't have to plug it in to recharge anymore, you just rest it on the base and the contacts start the charging process. My husband can listen to his loud action flicks and the kids and I don't hear a thing! We love it!

These are a good buy for basic wireless headphones for non-critical listening. Stereo separation is good, reception is good and quiet. Not ultra-strong but are fine if not abused!

Forget Sony and Sennheiser . . . these are the best. Gave them to my mom about 6 years ago, and they still work PERFECTLY. After 5 years living alone and using them about 4 hours per day in her apartment, she (now 90 yrs old) moved in with the family and now uses them up to 12 hours per day. After she goes to bed, I often use them for 2 to 5 hours. I have a big head and huge ears and have NO problem with comfort, and neither does my mom. These things are amazing.

Things to remember:
1) If headset is finicky about "clicking" into the charger (green light on), you can GENTLY BEND the top band at the center to make it fit.
2) Use rechargeable batteries. Alkalines may last a day or more, but the cost will add up.
3) If you use them A LOT, keep a spare set of batteries charged up on a separate charger (get one that charges FOUR batteries, and you'll probably need FOUR batteries for the charger to work).
4) Be SURE that you move the TINY, black switch in the battery compartment to RCH for rechargeables or ALK for throwaway alkalines.
5) Keep the headset volume control LOW and use the TV (or whatever) control to set the volume you want. This eliminates hiss.
6) The charger won't work unless you turn the headset to OFF.
7) When the headset sound goes off, and the red LED is flashing, it's time to recharge or switch battery sets.

You will LOVE these things - the sound is great, and the range is unreal. Sure, your ears might get warm or even sore after 5 or more hours, but that will happen with ANY headset, so take a break once in a while.

Don't even THINK about IR (infrared light) headsets . . . you will learn to hate them. This headset is light years better than IR.

If your set just won't work right, you have a short warranty, so hurry back to RS to replace them pronto. If you treat them nicely, they should last for years.

The current model looks EXACTLY like our old set, so let's hope the quality is still there with the new ones.

Bought 2 last year worked great for a year love them, then the sound went out of one side of both units for no good reason, so I hot wired them to play in monosound. Other than that I really love them, but I've seen this defect occuring with other people and am Highly Dissapointed with radioshack, please email me the specs for the defective component causing this common problem and I'll fix them myself.

Within the first 6 months there developed a click sound occaisionally. Then it became more frequent. Then the sound would cut out for seconds at a time. The Boynton Beach Florida Shopkeeper said the warranty is only 90 days and he would do nothing.

Regardless of the warranty period Radio Shack has always stood behind the quality of their products and has always made quality products.

This product was obviously defective and the Shopkeeper did not care about the illwill he created, nor about retaining a customer.

then the right side worked quit entirely. One week after the warranty expired the store refused to fix or replace it. Now I'm stuck with one earphone dead. Trash material. I'll never recommend this product to anybody.

I am totally deaf in my right ear and 50% deaf in the left ear. In order to hear my TV even with a hearing aid, I had to keep the volume so high it was disturbing my neighbor. I also have constant tinnitus (noise in my head)

I bought mine to use while on the treadmill and I love them. The treadmill I have is an older one and kind of noisy, but these cancel out that noise, and I can watch TV while I walk. Perfect for that use!
Note that the NEW TV I bought did not have the jack to connect, so I just connected to another TV in the house (on another floor), turn it on, and go to the basement with my headphones and use the video on the non-conforming TV. Voila!
I'm glad I have these, and after a couple of years, they're still operating perfectly and the original rechargeable battery is still functioning.
It's not like I'd want to have them on my head all day, but to work out for an hour---just great!

I'm happy with these wireless headphones. Didn't want to pay [$] but shipping was free and its so nice not to have any wires. I use them mostly for watching TV/movies so I don't disturb roommates. Good for music also, bass could be better though. The rechargeable base is a nice feature, even though you have to buy your own rechargeable batteries (AAA). They are pretty comfortable to wear. Don't know if they actually work up to 150 ft. away, I only go around my room. Another good feature is the volume control on the headphones. Overall, just another quality RadioShack product.

Got these to use for a tv in bedroom. Work fantastic for that purpose. Have not used for music so cant say anything about that, but I tend to be very particular about audio (music) so I doubt it would be positive. It's hard to get it to stay in the base unit to charge. Sometimes it doesn't charge at all and can't tell because the green light is on even if it's not in the base cradle all the way. Have to hang the right side over the cradle to charge it and sometimes that doesn't work and it doesn't hold the charge very long. Don't know that I would recommend it because of this problem

Used for TV and computer. I've worn out 4 other wireless sets at costs up to $250 and this is by far the best of all -- and the cheapest. Around the ear pads are very important for comfort and to avoid crushing ear cartlidge. Wanted make 5 Stars, but replacement ear pads wear out and they are not available for this model.

I love these headphones and have no complaints! The charger works great. I've never had to replace the batteries and have used these headphones for countless hours (I've had them for 2 years and use them daily). Replacing the headphones on the base after each use is all that is required. The sound quality is great and they are very comfortable. It is not uncommon for me to turn the sound off while completing a task and then forget that I have them on. Also, I have dropped these headphones pretty hard on my hard tile floor and they still work great. Highly recommended.

Bought a set of cordless headphones several years ago in self defense. Well, he loved them and then I bought these last year for Fathers Day. These are the best he's had according to him, except they wore out after just under a year. 11 months to be exact so I do wish they lasted longer but I will be replacing them with a new pair. He loves that he can get up early on the weekends and turn the stereo as loud as he wants without waking me up since I work till midnight or later on weekends and don't want to be woke up.

Definitely worth the money although if I could get an extended warranty this time I will do so.

I bought these headphones after getting tired of getting jerked by the tether of a standard plugin earnubs. This was an affordable solution, which IMO provides more than adequate sound quality and supprssion of noise. When in use, I can not hear any conversations around my cube area, while enjoying a full rich sound.

My only complaint would be that if you use regular batteries, you'll be replacing them every couple of weeks. Go ahead and invest in the rechargable (3 AAA). The stand recharges them while not in use - and I have had zero problems since!

Everything is A1 with the only exception that the ear pad got practically dissolved after 6 month of use and can't get replacement at a reasonable price. Can not be used without the pad because is very hard plaStic at the ear level.

Use it mostly with TV. Have three pair on three TV's. Only draw back: They are powerful enough to cut in on one another sometimes. Can go outside anywhere in my yard and still hear great. Wife loves to be able to work anywhere in the house and listen to the Guiding Light. Easily hooks through headphone jacks to MP3 player, computer, or anything. You do need to have a headphone jack or Audio out (RCA) jacks. Use mine through the VCR (with TV tuner)and added a pair of RCA Jack splitters to hook two things up to one set of RCA output jacks (out to headphones and out to TV, to listen to CD's, TV, DVD, and VCR programing. All on same frequency so you can buy additional headphones later. Even use them while in my hot tub. GREAT with 3 rechargable AAA batteries which last a loooong time before neededing charged.

I LOVE music! That's why I purchased these headphones for my PC. I use them when I want to go to another room and not have my music interrupted as I go about my other duties. I've had the headphones for several years and use them heavily during NASCAR season which just started again for 09'. I'm thinking about getting a second pair for the shop. They've held up better than I expected and the sound is pretty good for a wireless headset. I sometimes use them for music when outside BBQing. The rechargable batteries last long enough for the Daytona 500. Your ears will be tired before then. I've had [$] flight headsets that are less comfortable though.

So many times, you take a chance on an unknown item, with mixed results. But let me tell you, these headphones are truly a wonderful find. I can listen to my programs being broadcast from my computer at one end of the house, when I am in the farthest corner, with many walls between the headphones and the computer, including two support walls. And the clarity is astounding. The only minimal negatives I can see is that the headphones are a bit big for my head; and when I used Alky batteries they only lasted 2-1/2 weeks. This item will be a regular on my gift list.

I just purchased them so have not used them alot. I had trouble getting them to work on my TV due to lack of instructions and had to call Radio Shack. Found out I had to go into the menu of my TV and change the speaker settings in order to mute the TV and listen to the headset. Then I have to go back into the TV menu to turn its speakers back on when I am not using my headset. This is a bit of a "pain".
Sound quality seems good and they have great range.
I priced several headsets and a few were less expensive than these but many were more expensive so I think they are a fair value.

I got these when my hearing aids had to go for repair. These are great. AND when my wife goes to bed I can mute the TV and listen comfortably thru these earphones and let her sleep. I first purchased the Sony MDR-RF970RK, then returned them and bought the Radio Shack model. The Sony had terrible audio for nearly twice the price. I remembered listening to my neighbor's Radio Shack headphones (the non rechargeable model) and really liked the sound quality. I could not live with non-rechargable though and found this pair. The only downside I've found is that I think over a period of hours, these would not be very comfortable with the foam ear "muffs" pressing against my ears. That's one thing I liked about the Sony unit....nice soft ear enclosures. This Radio Shack unit could be five star if they worked on ear piece comfort. I haven't owned them long enough to comment further on things like durability or battery life.

Hadn't used these much after first purchasing them before last Christmas, but this Christmas got a new JVC receiver and had already bought a XM satellite receiver a few months prior.

Now, with Hair Nation on XM radio, I can listen to my favorite kind of music 24/7 with no commercials! use the headphones almost daily now.

Charge usually lasts about a week, which is excellent. These things have a very full sound as I can "feel" the bass almost as good as if I were standing directly in front of my sub.

About the only con I may be able to come up with is that no matter how I adjust the headband, they still feel a little loose, but I'm a smaller guy, so maybe my head just isn't big enough!!

I got these last week and I love them. I have been using headphones for the last 3 years for listening to MY TV in the same room as my husbands TV.

My father who is deaf in one ear and almost 75%deaf in the other wants a pair for xmas so he know longer has to read the caption. He tried mine and was able to hear the TV very well.

The other pairs of headphones I had were never very comfortable and these are. The others took batteries every week & a half, so I figure the little bit more I paid will work out in the long run.

after being in radio for 25+years...these are a good buy at the price. light on the head. construction may not be the best in the world but i am not going to be riding a roller coaster while i have them on. just around the house while i work. the freedom from a cord meant a lot to me. have noticed a little interference while i work at my computer...but that is to be expected. i may wear them up to 3 or 4 hours at a time and they are more or less comfortable. would like the earphones to completely cover the ears but they are ok the way they are. love to listen to my collection of cd's while around the house. overall i would have to say i would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I am hearing impaired and I believe me have tried most of the headphones out there. This set has been the most durable and most comfortable ones I have tried. I use rechargeable batteries and have a charger for the batteries and that works just fine. If you use regular batteries they will run down alot faster and it will cost you. Recargeable batteries is the only way to go.

Overall these are the best headphones that Radio Shack carries, and they are mid range for cost! I love everything about them, and they have worked perfectly for two years now. My only complaint is that the felt earpads do not stay connected to the body of the headphones, due to the nipples breaking off, therefore, there is nothing for them to fit into! I used crazy glue to secure them back on, and all is good! I actually purchased a pair ove[$] from Sony, and they weren't even comparable! I returned them and went back to these immediately!!

Was working fine until the rechargeable batteries ran down. I kept putting on charger. Mine didn't come w/directions (used - didn't notice it till I got home!). I checked website and another user said something about checking batteries/polarity. I checked them, that's when I saw the little/very tiny button to switch to rechargeable. - Smart alkaline/rechargeable switch for batteries;
- Zero background noise!!!
- Good reception anywhere in the house!!!!
Cons:
-After 10-15 minutes it turns some uncomfortable on the ears, even though they are only 8 oz weight; like most of them.
- Impossible to adjust the bass, which is not enough -only volume control available- this diminishes the quality of the music from DVD or CD player; for TV they are ok, and music, if you are not very picky.

I brought these and they worked fine except for the recharge of batterys.Igot rechargable batterys put them in and was working great till I put them on the charger and notice when I went to luse again the batterys were dead so I checked the polarity on the charger and thy had the negative an posative reversed so instead of bringing back I reversed the two charging wires and bingo everything fine now. I f yours is not charging check the charger polarity.

I bought a pair of these and thought they might benefit my father, who is hard of hearing. He liked them so much (and they did help), I gave them to him and bought a second pair for myself.
These work perfectly and have excellent sound for what they are (IMHO). The stereo separation and imaging they achieve was surprising. I have been very pleased with them, and have used them with standard and rechargeable batteries.

These headphones work all through the house, even in the basement. They jam pretty good. They're not comfortable laying down sideways but I turn the volume up and I can hear them next to me. These headphones have good sound and range. I'm not sure about the 150 foot range, but I easily got 75 feet through a wall. The headphones are bigger than I wanted, but the smaller, less bulky ones did not have the range I wanted. The battery charger included with the unit did not function correctly. It burned up 2 rechargable batteries (the first time I thought it was the battery). So, I recharge the batteries with other chargers and I am satisfied.

I use these with a seperate amp connected to my Direct TV so that sound doesn't bother anyone in room that might be sleeping. I even walked out in our back yard and the sound was still great but finally got some clicking but I was over 200 feet away from the unit. As I'm writing this, I'm in the basement and the unit is upstairs and the sound is great.

These headphones kick butt when it comes to distance from the receiver. I walked out to get my mail, which is about 125 feet away from my house, and still had a signal. They are well worth the money. HOWEVER...they are very bulky and heavy. After about 20 minutes of listening time my ears and head began to hurt and I had to take a break. I returned these and got the [$]wireless headphones. They cut out when I walked out my front door !! So I am returning them today. Very dissapointed.

Being disabled, I'm a full timer tv watcher, & gamer. These headphones give great sound for both music, & effects!!! Voices sound good too!!

There is occasional RF li9ne noise during TV viewing, but I think anyone with cable deals with this.

The only real problem I've had, is keeping the pads on the headphones, but then again, I'm not the most careful person, & have been accident prone at times.

I have a mountain bike attached to a stand and it makes a loud hum from the tire against the resistance wheel. I also have a treadmill that makes some noise too. Rather than have the TV blasting so I can hear it over the equipment I bought this set of headphones. It was a great buy. They are lightweight, fit well, and block the equipment noise so I can just enjoy the TV or a movie.

I listen to music, play music, and watch TV and DVD on my computer with these. I can jam at any time of day or night and nobody else is bothered. The sound isn't AS good as a good set of regular headphones, but I think that's a limitation of any wireless headset. The sound is plenty good. You'll get less hiss if you don't have to max the volume on the headset itself (pump it at the source end). The biggest thing I get a kick out of is the range...I record the Sunday morning news shows and then listen to them as I work all around the house--even outside. Buy good rechargeable batteries and make sure the headset sits in the cradle correctly so you get a good charge each time. If the headset was physically more flexible I'd give it 5 stars.

I bought these headphones Feb 2007. They worked fine up until Oct 2007 then I started to hear static. I thought maybe it was the batteries, so I purchased a new set of batteries, the problem persisted and continued to get worse.

I bought these headphones to listen to tv/dvd's and play my xbox 360 while my girl studies for an endless list of papers and midterms. I did a lot of researching and read reviews on just about every wireless headphone set I could find and this set seemed about the best, can't beat the price for what you get, sound is awesome, worked right out of the box, have been using for about 2 weeks thus far and have no complaints. I debated getting a nice set of wired headphones and then buying a long extension cord... trust me, spend the extra few bucks on this set, it won't break the bank and it's the best bang for your buck. When the arches of my RCA WHP 160T broke and RCA claimed that they could not provide replacements, I went looking for a better product.In June of 2006 [...] was selling the 33-1197 for the same price as the ON SALE RCA WHP 160T. It looked a good deal sturdier.Looks can be deceiving. The plates on which the earpads are mounted are held on by flimsy clips. Since I fall asleep watching TV while my wife watches another or is herself sleeping, those clips did not last. An easy fix was made using thick (the type used to mount things on wall) double sided tape.About a month or two ago the headphones stopped working. I suspect that the problem is in the compartment that contains the volume control. Since the unit is already out of warrenty, I will get back to you about what repairs cost.

I bought these headphones after much online shopping.I got them for my girlfreind who is a bit hard of hearing in one ear. The neibors kept complaining of noise from my sterio and T.V. so I had to do something. After I got her a set and listened to them I had to get one for myself. And the best thing is that I only have to have one transmitter hooked up to my sterio and they both work just fine as long a I keep the power off on the one not wired into my system, and even with the power set to off, my set still charges when hung up. Very good investment, I would recomend them to anyone. And I already have.

I recieved these headphones from someone, and they could not find the owner's manual. I do not know if I can leave them on the charging cradle indefinetly or if I need to take the phones off after they charge. What's the best? Had to wait awhile before I could find a pair of these headphones. They kept going in and out of stock. The best feature is the autotuning. Put them on, turn them on and interference or adjustments needed. The recharge cradle works great. Takes a little while to get the hang of it, but the green ready light lets you know when your charging.

I purchased a replacement that was considerably more expensive than these and the clicking, auto on/off and periodic static drove me nuts. I have the headphone for over a year. I use it a lot. The sound is excellent and no static. The only drawback are the earpiece covers which deteriorate and little chunks come off. I am unable to get a cover that fits. This is a Radio Shack unit but they have nothing that will fit.

i just bought this today. I am hearing impaired and need a headphone to listen to television. I have had two others in the past that were more expensive and they did not last very long. This headphone is the best. Honestly, if this one last long enough it will be the best, especially for the price. works great. the only suggestion i would make to manufacturer is to make the on/off switch a push button rather than a slide button. One of the best convience is there is no plugin to use to recharge, it just sits on two metal clips to recharge. great, love it, I recommend it.

I saw the other reviews that said that the charger was not working, I had the same problem until I found a little switch located where the batteries are, "alk or rch". If using rechargable batteries make sure you flip the switch to RCH. Also found that if you have stereo set to 5.1 surround sound the headsets don't seem to handle that very well. Otherwise, they do great, have a wonderful range, sound quality is pretty good. For the money they are a great buy!!

i like these headphones alot. the only thing that they dont tell you is how long you can get out of them on any rechargeable batterie and how long it takes to recharge the batteries. so i figured it all out. it takes only 44 minutes to fully recharge from when the light blinks battery low on the headphones, and you can get 10 hours of use out of them when fully recharged. i think on the next model it should have timer that shuts off when the batteries are fully and an indicator on the light that tells you that the batterues are fully charged.

In all, I purchased two units. The first unit there was only sound coming out of the side of the ear phone with the on and off switch, so I took it back. For the second unit I wanted to make sure it worked so the store attendent hooked it up to test it. Supposedly he got sound to come out of both ear pieces but it was turned up very loud and it was hard to tell if that was true since the physical vibration could have given a false impression of the sound coming out of the other ear piece. So I took it home and as I played around with it I found that this unit too really had sound only coming from one earpiece. If you turned it up loud it was hard to tell because of the physical vibration of the sound traveling to the other ear piece across the headset supports, but when you turn it down to normal hearing level (and below), there was only sound coming out of one ear piece. Rather than taking it back once again I decided to do a little investigation on my own. I took apart the ear piece containing the volume control because that was the one where there was no sound. Inside the earpiece were the electronic works for the entire earphone set. I disconnected the black wire from the miniature speaker and by a process of hit and miss by attaching the wire to several other points in the circuit, I finally got the speaker to turn on!!!! Evidently, in the case of two of the sets that I tested, the black negative wire coming from the speaker was connected to the wrong point on the circuit board! If this was the case in two of the sets, it makes me wonder if it might be the case in more of the sets. Although I note in other reviews people were satisified with their sets and did not encounter the problem I did. I must have gotten a bad batch of earphone sets, evidently! Other than that, it is a good value for the money and like another reviewer said you can "hear all over the house" with it. Although it would be nice if each individual earpiece had it's own volume control instead of one common one for both earpieces. A person's ears are not always perfectly tooned or hear at the same level just like one's eyes are not all 20/20. If you decide to buy this unit, before you invest the money, make sure at the store you didn't get a bad batch like I did and have the store attendent demonstrate them for you. And when you listen, make sure to alternately completely block or cover up each earpiece to make sure you are just not hearing the physical vibration that might be traveling from one good earpiece to the bad earpiece to make it sound like it works when it really doesn't!!

True plug and play, you can plug these wireless headphones into just about any device. At the moment I'm listening to MP3s through the PC while on break at work, they help cut distractions, and help cut noise polution to others. You gotta go wireless and free yourself of the cord that always gets tangled in your armrest, and get the more expensive rechargeable batteries (batteries aren't included with headphones). Stereo separation is very clear. It does get a bit warm around the ears after wearing the headphones, there is no air-conditioning here but I do have a small deskfan to cool off my pumpkinhead. The headband is fragile, its the weakest link so don't pull the headband apart or they will break. Don't spend hundreds when you can get decent sound for much cheaper. I recommend these headphones 100%. Later this month I'm going for another set for home use. So get up and go for it.

The sound quality was great for listening to a movie, and playing music. I did not crank up the volume so I am not sure how the performance is at a higher volume. I have a 3K sq ft house and was able to walk around the entire place without loosing reception a single time. There was an occasional popping sound, and it frustrated me, then I realized it was a bad DVD not the headphones. Great investment, another nice product from Radio Shack.

Maybe best set I ever had compared to several other brands I had in the past. After the manager told me I needed to get wired ones since last set I bought werent so good these are ok. All wireless have a bit of static here and there, but I rode my mower around the yard today and completly satisfied. Only thing is I don't understand why rechargeable batteries are not included. Overall, excellent value for the money.

Very good product and I recommend it highly. Sure could use a mute button. One that would cut the level by about 15 to 20 dbA during commercials and other unwanted noise.

My previous review on 6/21/06 was a result of shortcomings in the supplied instructions and adapters. The problem with hooking up to my monophoic TV was that there is only one audio output RCA jack. The other output RCA jack is for the picture. This was overcome by purchasing a Y adapter that allowed both speakers to connect to the single audio outlet. That done, these headphones became vastly superior to the RCA WHP160T headphones they replaced. Radio Shack designates the RCA WHP160T headphones as item 33-1184. Do not fall asleep wearing them. They are fragile and RCA does not provide replacement arches. Whether the sound source is stereo or monophonic, the 33-1197 headphones eat alkaline batteries quickly. A set of quality rechargable NiMH AAA batteries is a definite MUST BUY. I definitely recommend the Radio Shack 33-1197 headphones to anyone who wants to watch TV while others sleep.

Despite the other reviews, I got this set of headphones as a birthday present and they worked good accept for the fact that the head band retractor was broken. After a month or two the headphones started cutting out in certain areas and has background static echo. I returned them and got the money to get new ones.

Bought it to replace an RCA WHP 160T that had decomposed due to replacement arches being unavailable. Used with TV lacking stereo audio output the WHP had a silent right earpiece but the 33-1197 had static louder than the sound from the left. Returning to store to learn if unit is defective or incompatible with this TV.

I bought them to repace a older pair of wireless head phones, they work great. They have no background noise and I love the distance they can go without cutting out. Cudos to the team at radio shack who made these. IT just shows you another one of superior products that radio shack produces.
