This product is very difficult to set up to work properly. The sensors don't pick up motion correctly even on the most sensitive settings. Have to keep adjusting sensor positions to work. Make sure the sensors are placed at least 10' from where you want them to sense movement and then no more than 30' away from area. The sensors don't reach out 1200ft from receiver like the product describes. It's more like 300ft.

After sucessufully setting up, I placed the unit on a counter and was surprised three days later when the 'Alarm' light showed. I bought this today. I took it home and tested the range before installing the sensor. My front yard is open field with woods on either side. The sensor would not respond anywhere beyond approx. 145' while I was on the driveway with a clear view of the house. I even placed the receiver in a front window where I could see it while my wife sat inside and let me know if it was beeping or not. I know the sensor was working because the green test light was lit. It was sunny and about 55 degrees. When a car is 145' from the house I can see and hear the car approaching so this is no help at all. I had read bad reviews, but went against the advice and took a chance. Now I will wasting two trips to town over this item. I will be returning this product asap.

I bought this to protect my parents as they live out in the country. The signal only traveled 150 feet to the base station. After 3 weeks it quit working completely. The Reporter itself was very cheaply made, just putting in the batteries is a chore. Don't waste your money and please don't believe the "good" revenues like I did.

I have used this system for over ten years. During that time I have had to replace the transmitter twice. It is great for cars and people however my daughter quite often drives by it faster than she should be going and it fails to respond. It also responds to my dogs and cats when I let them out of their pens. This can be annoying. I have a receiver upstairs and one downstairs (with a loud horn attached in the garage).

I bought 4 transmitters that were wonderful for about 3 years. They pick up people, vehicles, large deer, and once a coyote. On rare occasions they pick up flying or crawling insects and are a problem. Batteries last 1-2 years in extreme cold but are somewhat cumbersome to change. After 3 years 3 of my 4 units have gone bad. One never sounds, 1 never stops, and 1 is not dependable.

I live in East Texas and we have a bad problem with feral hogs. They were tearing my yard to pieces. I would get up at 11:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. just to look for pigs, maybe catch them in the act. Sometimes I would see them and be able to shoot a couple but I was usually just losing sleep. The first night I used this product it went off at about 10:00 p.m. I snuck out on my patio and, sure enough, there was a whole herd out there. Now, no more lost sleep. When it goes off, we are having pork sausage the next day. This is probably not what this product is intended for but it works great.

Use to monitor drive traffic, and get early warning. Has momentary switch closure to hook to doorbell chimes/buzzer. Also, built circuit from outdoor motion detector that will turn on lights in the house for 10-20 seconds (until lightning burned it up so have to repair it). The momentary switch triggers the timer in the motion detector circuit.
Wouldn't be without this warning system, and has worked well for 3½ years.
Do recommend to anyone.

Comments about International Electronics The Reporter™ Expandable Wireless Alert System:

I bought this for my nursery next to my home, so that if i was at the house i would know if someone pill into the parking lot, as opposed to me checking every 2 minutes. This thing has been wonderful. I have had it set up for about 2 weeks.

One word of advice, read the directions! i almost returned it because it would pick up people and not cars. If I had read the directions carefully it tells you to set up sensor 10 to 20 feet away to pick up cars (cars are larger objects and it cant pick them up 2 feet away) I wasted half a day because of my carelessness. Since then,it has worked like a charm.

I do need to find out what to add to it to make it louder as i cant hear it real well from the other end of the house. It has a place to plug a buzzer in, im just not sure what to get. Product is well worth the price i paid.

I used this unit at work during slow season (nothing much to do).I can monitor my supervisor coming at the door.I have enough time to put aside my portable TV while watching or using my Laptop or reading newspaper before he comes into my office. If you buy this--Be careful installing the transmitter's and the reciever's battery because all the component inside the enclosure can easily fell apart.Be careful the antenna wires-they can easily break unless you have a soldering gun to solder in case they do break.Sometimes I used the silent mode (Red light Flash)not the Buzzer to make more quieter.I can now have enough time to get up and pretend that I'm doing something. He always make comments--Great job---Good job.I wish he will give me a raise.

Picks up big game in the middle of the night...like coyotes, raccoons, possums and the occasional midnight zombie. Yikes!

Comments about International Electronics The Reporter™ Expandable Wireless Alert System:

This product works much better than others at comparable price. I had it for at least four years at the bottom of my steep long driveway. It's the only one of its kind with that range.

It takes quite a bit of tweaking to get it to detect cars and people and not to send false alarms. But ones you get it tweaked, you're set.

Finally, spiders like to go in the transmitter's hole triggering the alarm constantly. I had to remove the spider (who would come back) and put a clear plastic rap to cover the hole. I had that issue one summer.

And yes, the beeping every few minutes means that the battery needs to be replaced.

I mounted the sending unit on the toolbox in the bed of my Company truck, aimed at the tailgate. The alarm sounds if anyone reaches into the truck bed to try to steal anything, but with it aimed at the tailgate I don't get false signals from traffic or people walking by. It has worked flawlessly for several years now, with very few dead batteries. My truck parks about 500 feet from my apartment and the signal is strong. I also have a second unit mounted on the steps to my apartment, aimed at a wall to detect anyone approacing my door without giving false alarms for any other movement. If anyone has trouble with this unit it is probably a lack of knowledge about motion detection. I highly recommend this system. note: I also wired in a flashing LED light to the base unit's built in switch - easy to do and now I get a visual signal as well!

Yup, a little pricey. But the reason I bought it makes it worth the price. The best protection from an intruder or other "organization" while you are home is an early warning. The Reporter has a very good range. I have added another chime to the relay contacts on the back. I bought this system with three extra sensors because it certainly appeared that the manufacturer responded to all of the reviews. e.g. on/off switch, mute. Nice addition to the RS security system.

Easy to use, Reliable

Comments about International Electronics The Reporter™ Expandable Wireless Alert System:

The material/fit/design is less than stellar. Sensors run on batteries so they go into "sleep" mode for about 5-8 seconds then wake-up to ping the area. I bought this for a yard gate and I am able to sneak-in before the alarm goes off. Sensor range said to be 5-25 feet but more like 5-15. But easy to use, looks like it will weather well.

Best driveway sensor I have ever had. If it goes off something is definatly in front of it and I like how I can add another for my other driveway. Great product!!!

This is the first driveway sensor system that has worked right. I don't get false alarms from wind etc.

Comments about International Electronics The Reporter™ Expandable Wireless Alert System:

I live out in the country and have a 600 foot long curving hilly driveway and I have installed the transmitter at the base of my driveway. The receiver picks up the signal through walls in my house and alerts me when anything crosses the entrance of my driveway. This product works excellent and I am very happy with it- only wish I would have found it sooner!
