I am a programming manager for a fm/am in Tennessee. I bought this mixer to do some small home projects with. This mixer is terrible. First, and the most disgraceful, it doesn't come with a power supply. You have to buy it seperatly. It does take a 9 volt battery...if your rich and wanna keep buying a battery everytime one goes dead. Second, and I realize mine could be just defective, it has a loud buzz in it. Nothing around to be causing interference. I had this thing for awhile now and just got around to recently using it so I'm sure it's too late to return it to the store, so basically I tossed it. Radio Shack is known for their outstanding products and I'm not being sarcastic. This thing brings down their image and should be removed ASAP.

this mixer is great, i love this thing. It might be small but in a recording situation this device has the goods. I mic my whole drumkit by linking three of these badboys toghether via the aux ins and outs. and it puts out no distortion at hi volune levels ; this thing is great.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
This is the lowest-cost sound mixer that I have found anywhere, but the quality is top-notch. I use the unit for live home music recording, to blend mic'ed and direct input sources, such as guitar, piano, voice, and/or prerecorded accompaniment tracks. The result is phenomenal, even without the acoustic benefits of a real recording studio (i.e., I do all this in my den or living room). While a few others have had complaints about this mixer, I give it nothing but praise. The reviewer who has a humming problem may easily fix this by attaching a ground wire to the back of the unit (its attachment is easy to find and to use); the other end of the wire may be attached to any nearby metal surface. (Personally, I haven't needed to do this.) Another complaint has been that the microphone inputs are not stereo; well, they're not MEANT to be. They are intended for centered voice-overs. To use the microphones in stereo, one simply needs to attach them to two of the stereo "auxiliary" inputs in the back of the unit (through an added stereo mic preamp for sufficient recording volume). Yet another reviewer complained about this device having faintly picked up an unwanted radio signal; while I haven't had this experience, it IS possible anytime a sound system with long added patch cords is used in the vicinity of a strong radio station. That user may wish to try reducing the length of connecting cords in his system, or simply recording in a different location. Overall, I have found this unit to be highly durable, reasonably flexible (wihin the limits of only four input channels), and fully capable of reproducing music or other sounds strongly and accurately. Its ultra-wide frequency and dynamic ranges, plus ultra-low distortion, make this a very useful choice for anyone needing a good, portable recording mixer. Its possible applications are nearly endless.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
This compact mixer suits my confined home studio where space is very limited. I use it for mixing anything from vocals, guitars and keyboards into my PC for digital recording and it has served me well. The low-noise sound quality is better than I expected.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I used this for my school's field day. Ran it on a brand new 9v battery, and hooked it up to an amp. and from there i was able to plug in an iPod. Worked awesome. Only thing is, you people with hissing noises, you can take any xtra wire you have lying around, and cnnect that to the ground on the mixer. Then attach the other end of this wire to the...
OH! WOW! BIG SURPRISE - GROUND! :)
Great product.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I set up a projector and a sound system for my wife's 7th grade classroom with the projector supplied by her school, some computer speakers, speaker wire, some non-solder terminators, a 4-way audio/video switcher, and this unit. All told, I spent under 200 bucks and ended up with a nice setup. This unit sits between the 4-way switcher and the long wires that run up to the computer speakers strapped to the projector mount (they needed to be centralized so they could be turned up a little louder without disturbing the next class). This gave her remote volume control, and the ability to mix in her sound system if she was using another input on the switcher (i.e. her ELMO).
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
After reading all the reviews on this mixer I was a little apprehensive about purchasing it but for the price I had to at least give it a try. One negative right off the bat is the lack of a power cord provided with the product. Yes you can purchase one but it will cost you nearly what the mixer itself costs. I opted to go with battery power to test the unit. The main use for this mixer was a webcast that created and I needed to seperate my inputs for mics, music, and a input from my laptop for skype phone calls. So far this mixer has been awesome. I have used it a total of about 12 hours now continuously and the low battery light has not come on yet. The sound quality is great, the sliders on the unit are smooth. The unit is very light weight so I wouldn't recommend it for heavy use or anything besides webcasts or simple home productions. One thing that was odd about the mixer is that I couldn't get a 1/8" PC mic with a 1/4" adaptor to work through the mixer and output properly. It was very low and seemed like it needed an amplifier. I tried three different mics and none worked. I wound up buying a karaoke mic which I could plug directly into the mixer without an adaptor and it worked perfectly. Overall I would say despite the few flaws this unit may have you just can't beat the price. The functionality is perfect and the unit is well worth [$]
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
It's a good deal for what you pay for. It does exactly what the box says it does. I would recomend an AC adapter. It's good for basic mixing (music and a few mics).
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Tried using this product to connect multiple microphones to a laptop. In addition to the unit picking up radio signals (literally, was able to hear a radio station when using testing this product), one of the inputs just straight-up didn't work at all. Also doesn't come with a battery or A/C adapter (the adapter would've been an additional $17... what?). Shouldn't've expected much of a "RadioShack exclusive," mental note made for next time.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I bought this yesterday. kind of expected it to be an easy set up with the way it looked. i was wrong. after everything was set up, i couldn't get the mic to work. it still doesn't work.. i spent 2 hours trying to fix it. couldn't do it.. idk if it's the mic jacks that are bleh or what.
my programs are fine. i set it up right. just do'n tknow.. wouldn't recommend
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I have had one of these units at my church for my guitar ministry for 5 years. Instead of investing in a larger amp head (8 inputs), I purchased another of these units to allow for 4 additional inputs. Sound quality is good, unit is durable, simple to use, easy to adjust. If you have a need for an inexpensive durable unit, this is the item to buy!

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I bought it online for [$] Great deal. I was a bit discouraged though when i read that the mics weren't even stereo. But i got it from UPS about 2 hours ago and decided to fix this issue. After a wee bit of snooping I found a VERY EASY solution. Ridiculously easy! So what you wanna do is open her up and removed two resistors called R31 and R32. That's it! In mono all mics will be in mono. In Stereo Channel 1 & 2 will be mono, and Channel 3 will be left and Channel 4 will be right. If you have 2 stereo mics then I'm pretty sure you can do this mod to Channel 1 & 2, but i didn't look into it because I perfectly satisfied with only one stereo mic. :D Happy mixing!

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Mixer works well but no matter how hard I tried messing around I could not get two mics plugged into the 1/4" mic inputs to output in stereo. I concur with the other two reviewers that this cannot be done. Aside from this (which was very important to me) it seems like a good unit for the price.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Used for a summer time band. Good for 30 bucks but could include a power cord. Should include a master volume dial as well. Pretty good but needs improvement.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
The 9 volt battery lasts only two days of continious us. Does not come with power supply. Typical low quality Radio Shack import product.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
An excellent value, but the background hiss is annoying. Fine for home use, but don't think about taking on stage.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
good unit works well needs a headphone jack with volume control even if it cost a little more
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Good but no power supply - had to buy...
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Bought it for our New Year's eve party and it did a great job. It has a built in amplifier for the mic too. Plugged in two mics, one input source from the laptop and we were all set to karaoke.
It would be great if it had an equalizer to control bass and treble for the various input sources but for this price it really doesn't matter.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
This is probably the least expensive 4 channel mixer I could find, which is why I bought it to mix two simple stereo sources. The unit does not come with an AC plug for some odd reason and will eat through a 9V battery pretty quickly. The manual specifically states that the unit should only be powered on when needed but it's a hassle to manually turn it on every time you turn on/off your input devices. If used with an AC adapter I recommend plugging this into a switched outlet on your receiver and leave the switch set to "On" always to accomplish what the manual says.
My biggest complaints are the about the longevity of the unit and its output quality. My unit is already dead after about six months and I'm hoping the warranty process goes smoothly. The mixer itself works fairly well although it introduces quite a bit of distortion when any of the sliders are set above 6. I certainly would not recommend this unit for anyone looking for a high sound quality solution, but this could be perfect for a hobbyist or other lightweight use.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I bought this to replace the previous model which had better design and component quality – it had 4 inputs, each w/ one quarter inch and one rca plug – and outputs on the same side of the unit – much better design.
Both items have no model number, and both are named the same thing on the unit and on the web: “4-Channel Stereo Microphone (Mixer Model: No model information available”) Catalog #: 32-2056 (I didn’t find the catalog number on the older one.)
I plug a mic and guitar and keyboard into it and plug it into my amp to rehearse and play small gigs.
On this newer model - serious overdrive – the mic will no longer do anything but squeal and the keyboard sounds like it’s in a wind tunnel – each of these plugged into the amp directly sound fine. The guitar is ok, but has to be played low volume on both the guitar and amp. No wonder everyone says it’s “noisy” - the preamp is not adjusted correctly!
The impedance is changed on the new model – and the design is worse.
And, yes, the mono/stereo switch seems to not affect much, either, but I hadn’t bothered to go any further with this investigation.
I would love to buy the old model. I'm returning this one.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
You can mix four microphones and two stereo line inputs simultaniously. The amplifier gains are too high and produces hiss.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I have had this product for four years now... I use it at least twice a week for my broadcast and recording of sermons and sporting events... Very portable and fast to set up for a production... The only problem that has developed just recently for me was due to my regular use of the mixer I would take the battery out after each use, one of the wires came lose so I had to purchase the adapter for wall mounting... (ouch) it cost almost as much as the mixer itself... I still LOVE this mixer!!!
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Bought this because I need a simple mixer for my mikes. Does not separate stereo signals! Unacceptable for me. Otherwise, no hum reported by other reviews.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Before you buy this mixer, realize that the microphones are not separated stereophonically. I tried a mike in all 4 slots and it always showed up on *both* of the outputs. Yes, I tried flipping the stereo/mono switch both ways.
Otherwise, it would be a great little product.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Me and my friend uses it for DJ partys and it works great but I wouldent recommend this for professional parties.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
The product is a good buy for those that want simple control of adjusting levels when recording, I reccommend buying 9 volt adaptor. Unit does tend to use a lot of power and it is very easy to forget to shut off. I have had mine for a year and no problems.

I use this for sound mixing on ReapSowRadio. It has been very dependable with no noise. I would advise anyone who is getting started in podcasting or internet radio get one.Works fine with batteries but buy the power adapter too, it's worth the extra cost.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I Bought This Mixer Today And So Far It Works Great, It Produces Almost No Self Noise ( If Set Up Right ) And Makes My Vocals Deeper And More Crisp!. If You Run A Small Home Studio And Need Better Vocals.! Buy This Mixer!.[@]
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I bought this a few years ago (c. 2004) for home recording of original material to help the youth choir members learn their parts. It is easy to use, quick to set up (our setup runs mixer into AUX on home stereo to PC out as TAPE 2). On the most recent project last fall I noticed quite a bit of background noise, particularly troubling when editing the takes. It's the mixer. Now I'm looking for a quiet one, now that my standards are higher. For [$]though (it was $40 when I bought mine), as long as you're not looking for near-studio sound, why not?

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Our idea was to use this mixer to combine various signals into a single output, which we would record on a pc for a later podcast. Unfortunately, this device does not seem to work well with the average "PC Microphone." It worked great with our XLR dynamic mike and the line out from a laptop, but when we used a variety of pc headset and desktop mikes (like you might use for SKYPE, they go to the microphone input on your sound card), it only picked up the faintest of signals. Even with everything turned up to 11 and with us screaming into the mike, the output was still barely audible.

Clear sound for use in two language input L - R into Digital 8mmD video camera MIC-INPUT. Light and mobile. Battery power or AC/DC option good flexibility. Optional RCA or line jack inputs nice. Small and compact.
Power LED remains off in power ON does not alert operator that unit is left on.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
This mixer is cheap and easy to use, but its still not worth the money. I used it to amplify and combine several different instruments into my computer, and the option of using 1/4" cables was why I bought it. The sliders were much too sensative and it ended up breaking after about a month wich was very dissapointing. If your using this to record or for music and cant afford to keep replacing it then DONT BUY THIS!

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
The poor sound quality that other people have experienced must have been because of bad wiring. I use it for my computer to record from a mic, music devices and an FX processor and it works just fine. I connect it to Line In.
All four channels with microphones connected work just fine. It's perfect for simple needs.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
OK, so it's not a Mackie or even a Peavey. But these are not bad little mixers for the price. We used to use a pair of the earlier model of these to mix and record our church services, and they worked quite well, until I messed them up (I was much younger and didn't know how to properly take care of a mixer.) You get what you pay for, and these are not bad at all for the price.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Not the best, but great for the value. I use it to play my ipod and guitar through one amp, kareoke with two mics and an ipod, and 3 headset mics through one computer. For all of these things it works great, but i do want a mixer with more control eventually.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Junky. Sound quality on the output side is terrible. Humming, static. Isolated mixer..no soap. This one is going back. Store employees of little or no help technically. Most know little about what they're selling. No real-time support phone at RS either. Bummer.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I took a chance on this and regret it. I am trying to record the output and all you hear is the loud noise from this mixer.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was connecting my sound system and when I got to the mixer and turned it on, I heard a loud humming noise. JUNK!!!!!!!!
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
This is a great mixer, I normaly use it for fun(singing along to a cd and playing on the keyboard).I Hook it up to a normal audio reciver and it sounds great and is easy enough to use that you can teach someone in 11.37 seconds. but I wish that it had a 1/4" output, and i can not find the power adapter.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I use this with a Sony ECM-MS908C microphone into a iMic USB audio interface on a G5 iMac The iMic w/o this mixer has hash noise. Driving it line out with this mixer works very nice and sounds very clean. Very surprising for a under $200 setup with all 3 peices. No AC hum from the 9V DC adapter either.
