We'll liked the unit until the remote sensor failed out of the blue after about a year. I changed the batteries, did the reset thing on both units, followed the instructions. And it still doesn't work. It's 33F outside so it's not the cold that did it.
The remote is sending a signal but apparently no data is being gathered to be sent.
Another piece of junk from China where quality isn't a priority (nor apparently is it for Radio Shack).
Will try taking it back for a refund but suspect Radio Shack will ignore me.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I had a Radio Shack wireless weather station for 5 years, with nice big LCD numbers and letters. I wish I could buy one just like it, this new one has date, time, useless stuff that just crowds and complicates the view/screen. Going to take this one back this week.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
This is a decent product considering the price tag. [$] for a weather station that includes indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, barometric pressure with trend along with a crude weather forecast, and an atomic clock with moon phase certainly seems like a deal. The only two negative drawbacks with the unit are the indoor humidity readings and the barometric pressure calibration. The indoor humidity reading jumps around a lot and often fluctuates 5 to 10 percentage points spontaneously without a valid reason. The altitude setting on the barometer is also inaccurate. I had to set the altitude approximately 100 feet higher than actual to match a barometric pressure reading representing reality. The outdoor temperature and humidity readings are accurate and the atomic clock is fantastic. I keep my remote sensor under the front porch roof and it has been functional for over a year with the original set of lithium batteries. Overall, a good unit for the price.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
After reading all the negatives I thought I'd add my 2 cents. Received as a Christman gift from my daughter at least 2 years ago, maybe 3... Dependable and very accurate; time consistantly + 9 seconde to the local radio station, temperature within a degree of reported temperatures for my area. And yes, the outside sensor has been outside the entire time, although under the porch roof.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
The remote sensor stopped working after 6 months. I replaced the batteries and tried resetting both the base unit and sensor several times to no avail. The clock always resets itself to MST although I live in Virginia. And finally, the controls are not intuitive and don't work consistently. I thought about buying another sensor but I think I'll buy a different unit.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Easy to use and set up. Like the features. We have purchased 2, both lasted +/- one year. Outdoor sensor is always what goes out. If they offered a replacement sensor, this would be a great product.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Fairly accurate and worked well for 9 months when outdoor censor failed. Followed the directions by other readers, reset the base and remote numerous times to no avail. Like to rely on temps/humidity/indications but it now serves as an indoor thermometer.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I like the digital readings, and the atomic controlled watsh even though it probably won't work in Europe where I come from.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Just a follow up to some of the postings I've read about this product. I've kept the transmitting unit outdoors for almost two years ago. It seems to have lasted both a tornado in Windsor, Colorado as well as a harsh winter in Buffalo NY. It finally "died" this summer and I did everything I could to get it working with out success. However, thanks to the posting of another user, I was able to bring it back to life. It is VERY IMPORTANT that when replacing the batteries of the transmitter to press the reset button on BOTH units. I actually had to repeat the process 2 times before it worked. Thank you to the other user who posted this. With regards to other functions of this unit, we've found that the barometer is quite accurate at predicting the weather. Please be sure to set you altitude correctly. The altitude for your home town is easily found on the internet or some of the higher-end GPS navigation units will this. My only complaint is that the temperature seem to be off around +/- 5 degrees. I suppose for a [$] unit this may be acceptable. I will post again if my 'resurrection' fails.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
The sensor did not make it through its first winter. No stores had replacement sensors for purchase. Recommended just buying another weather forecaster for [$]. Finally called customer service who informed me that they also cannot locate a replacement sensor. Now we are stuck with a [$] forecaster that doesn't show the outside temp - that was the reason for buying it!
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
AZ is not on daylight sdavings time and it keeps reseting.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Great product. Easy to use and very accurate readings.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I have had this product for about 1 1/2 year and had to change the batteries at least three times ever since. I also assume (as another reviewer further below) that the outside sensor is not to be mounted outside?!?!?! It rusted (inside, where the batteries are) pretty quickly and stopped working (as of yesterday). Poor quality with an otherwise OK product.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Outside sensor cannot get wet! How ridiculous.
Why have this thing?
The readings are not accurate. My outside temp reads 5 degrees high (because it has to set right against the house as it cannot get wet?)
The barometer reading cannot be manually adjusted except by noting your elevation abv sea level which gives a very unaccurate barometer setting (showing much higher than it actually is)
Don't waste money on this product.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
yes, the manual says somewhere not to put the remote sensor outside, but that is some kind of weird error. of course you put it outside or you won't get any kind of outdoor reading. our sensor has handled all sorts of weather. what you have to note is that when you lose a reading replace the batteries and press reset on BOTH the outdoor and base units. i couldn't live without this thing, as i decide what to wear on my morning run based on the exact temperature. humidity reading is nice also. wind speed would be the only addition that might be helpful, but the unit with that costs 3 times as much. no way!
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
The remote sensor worked well for about 5 months then died out. The main unit works fine but I bought it to get outdoor temperatures. I should have read the comment here. I don't understand how Radio Shack continues to sell this product. Apparently they do not read the comments. By the way, I changed all batteries, the remote is dead. Found one elsewhere that works for less money, however, lets see how long that one lasts, at least it has a backlight, making it a lot easier to read.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Bought unit years ago in store when sensors were on clearance and also had difficult time finding extras. Works with sensors from other manufacturers using same frequency. Durable because I accidentally drove and dropped main unit from hood of car, went back and found on street with scratches, but still works. It does stop working on weak batteries which do require changing often, but the sensors batteries can be changed without having to reset main unit history--time and date are another thing when changing batteries on the main unit. Locations of remote sensors are really important since I had all three remotes in use (I had two in a work van with one on inside windsheild and the other out of direct sunlight, and one "outdoor" unit at rear porch of home on wall out of the elements and sunlight). I compared to regular thermometer and the readings were very accurate since the windsheild was much hotter than the inside of the cab of the same van. I have found that the specs change often and the outdoor unit hard to find with in-store help very limited--RS's lack of knowleadgable sale staff continues to be part of a decline with too much focus on items like cell phones. Maybe that is why RS struggles with repeat customers for at least this product. P.S., An illuminated display would help, but have the unit costing more and eating the batteries even worse

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
NOT FOR OUTSIDE USE!! After purchasing three of the units for gifts RadioShack confirm this unit is for indoor use only. The outside sensor is not to be mounted outside. I looked on the spec chart here on the Shack site, and sure enough it reeds indoor. Am I stupid to assume the remote sensor could be mounted outside, or was I just tricked into buying the product by assuming it was like the good unit I purchased from RadioShack years ago? Wow, how things change over the years, assume nothing based on past history.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Accurate enough on temperature, just not the forecast. A little tall. Makes it easy to tip over. Can't believe it does not have a back light. Barometer is not accurate either.

I am still scratching my head. I received this unit for Christmas. I don't understand why Radio Shack sells a three station monitor and doesn't sell the remote sensors. Does this make sense to anybody?? I guess I'll box it up and take it back. The people in my local R.S. store arn't a lot of help eather. So much for Radio Shack....

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I have a older RadioShack remote wireless thermometer and it has worked fair for years, the remote on the old one is sealed with a O ring, the new remote on this 63-1090 appears to be without seals and susceptible to water damage? I realize the outside remote must be mounted out of direct sunlight and protected from wind but I am just not sure this outside sensor will hold up? I also find the unit that I just purchased to contain a different outside sensor than what this site has listed for the unit. The sensor I have requires 2 AA batteries, this documentation on this site notes the sensor requires 3 AAA batteries, someone tell me what is going on? I am not sure what I have? I go into a RadioShack store and purchase an item based on past experiences and my first impression is this outside sensor is not designed for outside use?
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I love having this unit. It seems to be pretty accurate for the most part. Only problem is with my location of my remote sensor. Gets direct sun in summer and shows wrong temp. If your remote sensor appears to be bad, check the batteries in your main unit. Changing them and resetting both sensor and main unit fixed my problem.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Have to change battries every two weeks. Which requires resetting the whole works.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
This seems to be accurate enough and one can't have too many atomic clocks. Display is easy to read. The thing that drives me crazy is that it is a 3-channel device, but it is not possible to buy additional remote sensors. They aren't available on-line or in the stores. Does that make sense to anyone? The ability to monitor three areas, the inability to buy the additional sensors to do so? Drives me crazy.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I don't believe there is any problem with the remote sensors (other than the fact that I have not found extras at a reasonable price). I too thought my remote sensor went bad but, after reading suggestions in the manual, I found that replacing the batteries in the base unit corrected the problem. Even though the base continues to function on low batteries, the remote receiver loses function.

I read lot's of reviews saying that extra outdoor sensors were not available. My local store was able to order one for me with no problem, part number 12457768. It was $19.99.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I've had this unit for about three years now. It has worked very well. The indoor and remote outdoor temperature sensors are accurate (I've compared them to two other temperature sensors and they all read within a degree (F) of one another). During Hurricane Ike, we ran our refrigerator using a generator. I put the remote sensor in the refrigerator and monitored the temperature to see when and for how long to run the generator.
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Purchased mainly for wireless remote sensors about 14 months ago. Remote sensor failed a week ago and I now find out that you can't buy a replacement. As many others have said... why would Radio Shack sell a base station that handles 3 channels and not have additional remote sensors for sale???
Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I received one as a gift, bought another for vacation house and another as gift. They have worked OK, but when I asked for an additional remote sensor at the local Shack, I was told they did not stock them and I should try on-line. This lack of additional or replacement remotes limits the uses and the possibility of repair. Of course I could cannibalize the other units that I have and have one decent system - at great expense! I will switch to another supplier for any more of this type of product.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I bought this unit a little over a year ago. It worked great, until we hired somebody to clean our yard and the remote disappeared. Now I find that Radio Shack does not sell additional remotes. Store employees used to be really helpful, but the one I met today kept telling me that one remote will support 3 base stations (and that helps me how since I don't have even one remote?), when the reality is that the base station supports 3 remotes (and theoretically a remote could support an unlimited number of base stations--the remotes broadcast, whoever wants to listens).
Why a store would sell a product that has a great feature like being able to support 3 remotes, yet doesn't sell additional remotes, is beyond me.
I really should have known better than to buy this from Radio Shack. You see, I bought a similar unit a few years ago, but when I returned to buy an additional remote they had discontinued the model and now had this model. Sound familiar?
I trusted Radio Shack for 30+ years as my preferred supplier of electronic items such as this. No more!

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
This is a great product, and it is supposed to be capable of having up to 3 remote sensors, but when my single sensor which came with the base unit broke, lo and behold radio shack does sell the remote sensors. So I don't know how anyone is supposed to replace or add additional sensor units.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I use the product to monitor outside temperature and inside humidity in the winter in order to adjust the humidity in the house to avoid condensation on windows. It works very well for this purpose.
The only problem that I have had is that the outside sensing unit failed after about 15 months of use. I have been unable to find a replacement unit at Radio Shack. The only solution seems to be to purchase the entire package.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
We received this unit as a Christmas gift 1.5 years ago. The sending unit has suddenly quit working. We thought we only needed to replace the lithium batteries, but only inside temp unit works. I went to RS site looking for a way to contact them for help, with no success.
After reading a few reviews, I see that many people have had trouble with this unit, and it has given out over a short period of time. I also see that humidity values have not been accurate.
Before it quit, we loved the unit. It was great seeing the temp outside each day. The forcaster was fairly accurate also.
I'm disappointed, because I expected the unit to last AT LEAST 5 years.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
As others have said, the humidity readings are grossly inaccurate. It seems RS will put their name on anything these days, no matter the quality. More important, I've owned my unit less that a year and wanted to add another remote. They are discontinued, even though the base stations are still for sale. Doesn't inspire much confidence in the Radio Shack brand. Sorry to see them go south.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
The unit works well, and it has THREE channels for remote sensors. The unit comes with two, but you cannot get an additonal sensor. Also, the atomic clock feature does not work if you're located in hilly or mountainous areas, where a signal is not available.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
The unit is a nice size and the text is easy to read from a distance. The unit does not offer any backlight. Humidity readings are pretty inaccurate. The weather prediction has shown raining 90% of the time since day one. I do have the correct elevation set on the unit.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I purchased this weather station, model 63-1090, for temperature and humidity readings inside and outside. I have exchanged the device twice, so I have had three different units. The temperature readings are accurate. This must be easy to do as I have never had a digital thermometer whose readings were not. However, the humidity readings on all three units are not even close. They range from 5 to 20 points off. And they are not consistently incorrect throughout the range so that I can simply add or subtract some amount to get the correct reading. If you want to read humidity this unit is not worth a penny.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I got this unit as a gift for Christmas. I imediately placed LITHIUM batteries in remote as it does get cold in Michigan. I have not yet recorded a temp below 3.9 ºF (-11 ºC) as of this review so I have not experienced the -5 issue but will update the review if I do.
Some minor complaints: The remote took a while (~2 hours) to stabilize to the proper temperature (as checked against the base station and another thermometer I had) but after that has been very reliable and accurate (within a degree of a fairly expensive calibrated thermometer I use for work). I had to set the altitude a bit high (I set it to >1,000 ft AMSL but I live at ~950 ft AMSL) to get an accurate barrometeric reading, but after that have had no problems. I also experienced the 0/30 date on New Years Day and had to reset the date manually to 1/1. if this only happens once year I can deal with that. The manual was next to useless. It was obviously written by someone who is not a native english speaker. However, it was fairly simple to figure out what they were trying to convey and get the unit setup properly. When you replace the batteries in the remote you have to reset the base and the remote and you lose all of your settings! However, I am still on battery set number one (only one month in so I have not had this problem yet except during setup).
I placed the remote ~50 feet from the base through a single wall. So far I seem to be getting temps ~2 or 3 degrees colder than the temp on the weather channel but that is from the local airport in town and I live well out into the suburbs. Therefore I would expect the temperature I record to be a bit cooler.
My brothers and father have other similar units from different makers and they have all had many comunication problems between the remote and the base in the same time as I have had this unit. I have not had one problem with the base reading the remote. I really like that this unit has both indoor and outdoor relative humidity and displays the current barrometeric pressure. Too bad it does not log the min/max barrometeric pressure while logging the min/max temp and humidity.
All in all this is a GREAT unit for the price!

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
Got it for Christmas. Sensor hung outside about 7 feet high, under a soffit and away from direct sunlight (as much as possible). Indoor unit on wall opposite the outdoor sensor (within inches through the wall). Monitored several NWS observations near me and adjusted altitude to match pressure settings to the NWS obs. Had to set altitude about 50% higher than my location. Now pressure reads within .03-.05 in/Hg of nearby obs sites.
Outdoor temp is accurate (within 1 deg) and humidity usually within 5-8% of reported obs. Indoor temp sensor reads 3-5 degrees cooler, but could be due to placement on outside wall (facing North).
Atomic clock is strange. Looks like it is getting radio signal, but doesn't adjust clock. On Jan. 1, date displayed 0/30. Let it go overnight and this morning it read 1/1. So I manually set it to correct date (1/2/2008).
Overall, it's good for the outside temp and Bar. Press, if you calibrate it to nearby obs sites (adj altitude). Placement of outdoor sensor will likely affect performance and accuracy. Will have to see what happens as seasons change.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
I've owned this product for a year now (it replaced one from Oregon Scientific) and I've been very pleased with it. It doesn't get too cold here so I haven't seen the problem with temperatures around -5F that some have reported. I did notice that the manual recommends using lithium batteries for the outdoor sensor for temperatures at and below that temperature. The indoor and outdoor temperatures agree with other thermometers that we have. I love the atomic clock feature too. Also, if you have trouble with the pressure, you may need to ajust your elevation value entered in the unit.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
This unit was frustrating from the get-go. The instructions were cryptic, making it very difficult to set up. Although the temperature readings were accurate (I think), the weather predictions were nowhere near accurate. Perhaps the unit was predicting the weather for another location? When it was raining, the sun logo was lit; and when it was sunny, the rain logo was on. The barometer never did have an accurate reading. I checked the barometric pressure with the U.S. Coast Guard on a regular basis. The unit never coincided with the Coast Guard nor with the barometer in the house. The manager of my local [...] asked me to use the unit for one cycle of batteries. I did this. The performance never improved. I have just returned the unit to the store and received store credit. I will shop for a new weather station. I do not recommend this unit to anyone.

This set up is perfect if you have several acoustic guitars and want to monitor their humidity. I bought the 63-1090 and two additional sensors (via ebay). I put the sensors in the guitar cases. Since they're wireless, I don't even have to open the case to check the humidity! When the sensors were put next to each other in a closed environment, the readings were very close, quite precise. I'm not sure how accurate they are, apparently close enough. The atomic clock is also a nice feature.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless Weather Forecaster:
The "Atomic Clock" feature does not work. The maximum usable range of the remote sensor is 20 feet, not 100 feet as advertised. Don't buy a second or third remote sensor, as the base unit can only keep track of one at a time, even if you switch them to different channels. The manual is almost useless, and does not contain product specifications. This is a cheap toy, and don't count on getting a weather forecast - temp/humidity readings are all you can hope for.
