Unlike most of the reviewers. Most people don't realize, newer iPod require a special Apple cable. This cable works great if you use it with the first generation Univeral docks.

Why Try to Sell Such a Terrible Product?
By Cam the Consumer from Fairhope, AL on 5/3/2008
Pros:
Can Be Refunded
Cons:
Garbage, Inadequate Instructions, Incompatible, No Fair Forewarning
Describe Yourself:
Honest Consumer, Practical Buyer, Simple Man
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I'd just like to take this time to say this product is garbage.

Why does Radio Shack still even sell this product if it isn't even compatible with the newer iPod devices? On the box, which lacks proper instructions or a fair forewarning cautioning that this product doesn't work with more recent iPods like the iPod Classic 80 & 160 GB, Accurian more or less simply states that "This product works with your iPod so that you can watch your videos on the TV!" But the truth is that it DOES NOT WORK with the newer iPods which will one day (much like with computers) render the old ones obsolete. And to respond to several of these other comments (which to be fair, were probably mostly written before the newer iPods were released), yes, the TV Out WAS set to 'On' & the Signal WAS set to 'NTSC' & all that jazz, but the simple fact remains that this A/V cable connector product fails to work with more modern Apple iPods. Therefore, do not purchase if you have bought an iPod within the last year & a half. It's ludicrous & laughable that unofficial non-brand name companies try to sell & pawn off to the consumer products which are anything but productive & basically are useless for the appliance intended. For us practical people, we long for the day when everything can be made SIMPLE & EASY again, devoid not only of continual confusion & overwhelming complexity, but of unnecessary frustration as well.

Awesome A/V cable for 5th Gen iPod

Cons:
IPod with Video ONLY
Best Uses:

I used this product to capture video from my 5G iPod and the end results are fantastic. I couldn't believe it when I found out that Apple decideed to force users to buy thier A/V cord for the new CLASSIC iPod line. Just another reason why the iPod is the only Apple product in my house.

Works with 5th Generation iPOD!

I have a 5th generation iPOD w/ a 30GB hard drive and was looking for an inexpensive cable to hook my iPOD to the TV. It worked - that simple. Cable was plenty long and did what it's suppose to. Nicely packaged for easy return (should it not be compatible w/ your iPOD).

Not compatible with newer 80G classic
By BT the Disappointed from Illinois on 2/10/2008
Pros:
Easy Setup, Fast Setup
Cons:
Incompatible
Best Uses:
None
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Audio will work fine, but don't waste your time if you have a newer iPod classic. All you will get is audio. It doesn't matter whether TV signal is set to "On", or any of the other settings. I really wish they would have specified on the packaging that this is not for the newer iPod classics so that I wouldn't have wasted my time.

This is not compatible with a 2g Ipod nano as a nano does not have video out options. I just wanted to display photos on a television and it does not work.

DOESN'T WORK ON NEW IPODS!

Pros:
Easy Setup, Fast Setup
Cons:

Best Uses:

This wire doesn't work on the new iPod nanos and iPod classics. The new iPods require an a/v jack with an end that plugs into the dock, only sold by apple for [$]. So, if you have a new nano or the new classic, don't waste your time.

The first generation (v5, v5.5) video ipods will output video right from the headphone jack. That is what this device is for. The very latest ipods (fall 2007, "ipod classic" and "nano video") lose this feature and only output their video from the more complex dock in the base. This cable worked terrific on our 18-month old video ipod (60gb). You just have to go into the "video options" screen and set "TV out" to "ON" by clicking the center button. The ipod screen won't show the video but it will be output through this radioshack connector to your tv.

Works on 30 GB & Original 80 GB IPOD

Cons:

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We have four IPODs in our home. It works great for the 30 GB & the original 80 GB IPOD (the version that didn't include the scrolling album art). Picture is good and it's easy to set up (see other reviews). However, we have two brand new, upgraded versions of the 80 GB and when you turn the TV OUT setting to ON, it tells you that you need to connect a video cable to the jack at the bottom of the IPOD. Apple must have changed the internal setup of the video settings... ???

This product is great. I got it yesterday and I watched a movie on my tv. I was surprised at how clear it actually was. If you don't know how to work it, go into video from the main menu. Then go to video options. You have to switch the TV OUT to on. I actually leave it on ask because its easier, but yeah. So i really like this product. It is great for having friends over and watching movies that you may not have on dvd with good quality. The cable is 6 feet long which is great because it gives you more room to move your ipod around while connected. Great product.

This product is amazing. Its very easy to use. Also all of those other commets were its says that the screen is messed up they are wrong. At first when i tried it, it did't work but i messed around with the ipod tv signal that was NTSC and the TV OUT that was ON. Thats all you have to do and it works. It's easy, and also cheap. I recomment that you buy it if you have movies or just want to listen to music on your tv also pics.

Then u should have no problem. The overall picture calrity is ok, not bad for fun entertainment, but not for big parties.

By jamie t from michigan on 5/21/2006
Pros:

It does videos, audio, and photo slideshows, but if you want to see photo stills it doesn't work. Once I got the hang of it (and read up on it) it worked perfectly fine. Read up about setting the iPod to TV out on apple.com before playing with it, otherwise your initial results will be very discouraging.
