One posting talked about wrong directions, taking them way outta the way...check your route profiles...I made the mistake of saying no to tolls...well, THAT was scary in NY..LOL..but I love this Navigon..got the new maps feature as well. And their Customer Service is FANTASTIC..I am always contacted especially w/tech supp within 24 hours if not faster. BIG bang for buck..used my son's Tom Tom VA to MA, which we used the Navigon for prior...didn't like the Tom Tom...I wish that some of the fonts where bigger, but after 40, oops...lol...this is great I have recommended to several friends. Take the tiime and download and print the manual and read through it...it will help...right outta the box is easy if you are good with finding your way around softwares. BUY IT....the traffic was great for me too going MA to VA....so don't know about the neg. postings or why...but....

It takes forever to acquire a satelite signal. It routinely freezes. It routinely misclaculates the route sending you miles out of the way on what should be the most direct routes. I've had the unit replaced and received an updated map program neither of which fixed the problems.

I would just like to say anyone who has complaints about this product has not set it up correctly. It is very easy to use straight out of the box. It gives very accurate details and directions. I travel in an RV and it has taken me right to the door step of my destinations. I also use it around the DFW area and it is extremely accurate. I live out in the country and it will take me to my doorstep everytime. The mount that comes in the box works very well moving it between vehicles. People that complain about the battery life should get a life. It comes with the car charger so what is the big deal? If you want an al around great gps, this little jewel can't be beat. My dad seen it and went and bought one the same day. And by the way, he loves his too.

I love this thing, But when traveling down a road that is Highway 45 it says in 1 mile go left onto highway 45. I do believe it has something to do with the large interchanges but it also happens on single lane highways. I appreciate the voice saying PLEASE! make a U-Turn then it will recalculate and you are off. easy to see day or night. I can go from KCMO to St Louis on a single charge. Downloading updates is WAY too easy.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

Frankly, I bought the unit expecting that I would not be totally happy, because I'm picky with electronics. But I'm actually quite pleased and glad I bought it. I started using the unit within minutes of buying it and easily got it going. Suction cup mounting works well, but having to plug the power into the bottom of the unit makes me mount it higher than I'd like. Works well in large city. Optional traffic info worked well; recalculates routes quickly. Built in POI list is good mainly for gas, food, banks, atms - no stores without the optional package. It does all I expected, but more easily and better than I expected. I have found a couple of out-dated intersections and POI's. Sometimes the route chosen is not the fastest or best, but will still get you there.

Maybe they will change that with updates? Great right out of the box...just wished they included a reg. charger...lol...well, I'll update after a month of using but right now, it is a HUGE FIND....and thanks to the guys at RS Court St. I was well informed to make a decision...thanks Guys!!!!(the other RS in the area acted as if I didn't exist..hmph).

I use the navigon 2100 to get around the city. Many places have detours and it automatically re-routes you. It get you where you need to go. The size is great but, the only thing I don't like are the small buttons when entering an adress. It would be great if there was a feature to increase the button size. Other than that 2 thumbs way up!

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

After several weeks of research I decided to buy the Navigon 2100. The largest thing that impressed me about this unit was the Reality View. Right after I got it I had to go on a small 85 mile trip. The unit works well except it doesn't get you all the way to your destination. I was visiting a college and when I got the the main entrance it told me I was at my destination. Even though this was a huge campus and I had entered the exact address. It did this several times during my trip when I used the POI options to find places to eat. It would get me close to my destination but not always within eye shot of them, so I would be in my car, hear "You have reached your destination", and I'd still be on a main road looking around for my destination. It also couldn't find my home, when I first used it I programmed in my home address and let it take me home, I pulled into my driveway and it still thought I needed to go down the street to reach my house. Honestly I wasn't expecting to be able to get me right to the door of my destination, but at least to the parking lot. I returned the unit yesterday, and I'm on the hunt again for another one that will have better maps.

I'm a model so I get sent out on different auditions all over the LA and Orange County. As long as I have an address, I know I can make it there plus it tells my estimated arrival time. Love that. And if you go a different way or miss a turn, it redirects almost immediately. You have the option of looking at the 3D map or 2D or turn by turn directions.

My CPA loved it. It has a logbook feature that tracks your mileage and is downloadable to an Excell file for tax records. I use it in multiple cars and record all my travel from volenteer to multiple stop business / sales trips. It speaks the name of the street so you don't have to keep looking at it when you drive; one of the few. It adjusts quickly when I drive a shorter known route to match mine but is great when traffic causes a detour. I have bought one for my brother as an early anniversary present. He loved it on a camping trip we took the boys on.

It took me about three minutes to get it working. Very easy to use! Took a lot of stress out of determining when the next intersection (turn off) would occur. It has found locations which would have been impossible with the directions on web-sites. I have already recommended it to several friends. I have had it in about 15 states so far and I have never experienced any problems. The traffic alerts work great! As well as the ability to re-route for traffic alerts or when I deside to take another route that I choose.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

I tried and returned 2 Garmin and 1 TOM TOM before settling on this unit. It has more features for the $ and is more accurate than the TOM TOM (MIO and TOM TOM have different map systems than Garmin and Navigon)-The roads are marked well and it takes me logical routes. The maps are, so far, very reliable and accurate (I've taken it on several test runs basically all over the city and have not had one problem finding anything). One note: I DID have to download an upgrade when I registered it, but when I did, it downloaded newer maps for free. Very nice. - I like the 3D road signs that pop up on the screen at highway interchanges so you know which lane to be in. It also has a "take me home" option so you don't have to enter an address. - It also shows the speed limit on the highways and will give you a "caution" warning when you are going over whichever pre-set speed you choose ( I chose 10 MPH over), or you can just turn it off.-You can set it to avoid tollways or other things. Some reviews say that it gives you too many turn prompts, but if you read the manual you will find how to turn off certain prompts. The only things I have found to be not so great are - the voice sounds like a female version of Stephen Hawking- very computer like and sometimes it says the street names funny, like "Roy-oyal" instead of "Royal" Or "Belt-leewine" instead of "Beltline". But those are the only two examples I have found. Also, the screen could be brighter, but if you adjust the screen angle or buy a screen protector the problem goes away. The windshield mount is cumbersome, so I am going to purchase a bean bag mount for the dash instead. It also took me 2 days to figure out how to work the unit properly. I was frustrated at first since it isn't as intuitive as the Garmin, but once you program it a few times and play with all of the options, it is fine.Over all I am very happy with the Navigon and for [$], it was a fantastic deal!

The GPS has absolutely no clue on where its going, one time it stopped me on the middle of the highway and told me i had arrived, ARRIVED where???? trust me dont bother, this is an awful one. get a magellan or something instead.

I love this thing. I have had mine since December 2007 and it has not failed me yet. I honestly have not seen the problems described in some reviews. Sounds like it was set up incorrectly, or route profile was not used properly. It is after all a GPS unit not a mind reader.

Every day, I have to choose which of three freeway routes to drive for my commute. I bought the lifetime live traffic alerts - my Navigon 2100 works great for this. I've let it reroute me around traffic & it's worked great! I own a TomTom & have used both while travelling. I find the Reality View & speed limit monitoring features of the Nav2100 very satisfying.

I live in San Francisco and it works great here and in the East Bay (Oakland, Berkley CA area) On Navigon's website you can get map updates now. For the price, you cannot ask for much more. Satellites do take a while to connect (a few minutes, sometimes faster), but once it does its cool. The POIs could have a few more options, but at [$], it's hard to complain when there are other units out there for $400+. We love the unit and we just plug in the address and go! It has not failed us yet. Since the Bay Area is huge and we just moved here, we use it 3-4 times a week - I recommend for the casual user like us.

There were a lot more good reviews than bad so I gave it a shot when it was on sale. Believe me when I tell you the bad reviews are correct. Either this is a first gps for many & they don't know any better or Navigon themselves is stuffing websites with phony good reviews to offset the bad reviews. Many of the routes & things it wants you to do range from awful to dangerous.

I love my GPS. The price was right. I've had it now, for about 3 months. I travel alone a lot. I'm not good with paper directions. This was a life saver for me. Battery life is not that great, but just plug it in and keep going. Now, I just go any where I want to go and not worry about getting lost. I go places now, that I'd never go alone.

Very bad directions. Got me lost a couple of times already. I called navigon thinking i got a bad unit & was basically told they're all bad. I was told that an update will be issued to fix it but everyone will have to pay for it. The fact that the thing is supposed to have a warranty means nothing to them. Lucky I still have a couple of days to return mine. Feel bad for people who got stuck with this & can't return it. They should report navigon to BBB, Consumer's Affairs Dept or Consumer Affairs Division of Attorney General Office. If a lawyer bought this maybe he can file a class action lawsuit.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

I find that peoples bad reviews are unfounded. I find the reality view and best lane choice unbelievably accurate. No it doesn't show your movement during reality view but who cares. It's almost impossible to miss an exit or end up in an exit only lane. Recalculation is almost instantaneous. Speech to text is great. It even tells you what side of the road your destination is on. Some pronunciations of the local street pronunciations are not the same as a local might pronounce it but that doesn't matter either. A lithium polymer battery would extend battery life but this unit is awfully inexpensive to expect it. I learned all the functions before realizing the owners manual was on line. That would have made things a little quicker on the initial setup.

My wife and I do not like electronic extras. Aside from a laptop, a calculator sees little use.
I needed to drive 50 miles with congested highways going north and south bound. I ran to Radio Shack, picked one a Navigon 2100 and handed it to her and asked her to make it work. We have NEVER used one of these things and never seen one outside of a box. Within 10 minutes it was a life saver navigating through our city. The "2D" maps shows up even in a small city like Dayton,Ohio.
It found a quick route home paralleling I-75.
I'll have to give a 6 month review given I work 75 miles from home. It was recommended over a TOMTOM one. I didn't give it 5 stars only because I haven't used anyother model.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

I was very disappointed with it. It had a nice design and I actually liked the windshield mount it came with, but that's about it. The maps were out of date and when driving around, it always showed me about 5 seconds behind from where I really was. Also, the reality view wasn't really all that. It only works on highways like the interstate and even then, it really wasn't what they made it appear to be. It was an interesting concept, but they need a lot more work on it. I wouldn't recommend this.

This was a gift for my husband who likes gadgets. So, I surprised him for Christmas and got him this little gizmo. The first Navigon we had kept needing to be reset. We eventually exchanged it for a new one. The second one sent us on the weirdest routes and it didn't matter if it was optimal, fastest or shortest routes. It did that in our local area so we knew that it was strange way (and out of the way) for our travels. Other times it seemed to work well. The POIs didn't seem that accurate either. I ended up returning it for a TomTom and have been even more frustrated [...]I'm ready to scrap the whole thing and rely on Map Quest.

The 2100 has saved me many times from sitting in traffic with the optional (sometimes included) traffic for life. The best lane feature tells you where to be when approaching the next exit. I like where I can set the speed warning to 5/10/15/20 over the limit, and my Navigon 2100 will tell me when I am over the limit by that much. So many other great features, but you need to change the settings (very easy to do) to your preferences for best performance.

I paid [$] for unit and got what i paid for. Don'T understand how some people say I should be happy with unit considering what I paid for it. I could have bought my friends 4 year old Garmin from him & paid less than that for a much better unit. Navigon wants me to get off highway & get back on same highway a few exits later, make a right turn on the highway where ther isn't any exit or turn, make u-turns. I feel more like I'm a rat in a maze than being guided to a destnation that I don't know how to get to. I still need yahoo directions & a map to back up the navigon.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

This is an excellent unit FOR THE PRICE! Excellent features comparable to higher priced units and some unique features (True View). I rated it a 4 because it is slow when selecting POI catagories, and only a 3 hour battery life (6-7 hours for Garmin/Magellan units). I have been a GPS enthusiast since the first civilian units became available. [...] Some people that gave poor reviews don't seem to understand the limitations of ALL GPS units. 1)Inaccurate maps are not the GPS makers fault. ALL GPS manufacturers buy maps from TeleAtlas or Navteq. Takes 2 to 5 years (or more) for new roads to be added to maps. If a road is in the wrong place on your GPS it's probably in the wrong place on all GPS units. 2) Routing depends on what you choose (faster time, shortest route, etc). The GPS units routing alogorithm (fastest) will always choose the most major road catagory first in a route ie. interstate, state, county, local highways in that order. Local knowledge will always beat out any GPS unit's route. It doesn't know the local shortcuts you might take, it wants to get you to the most major catagory highway first. I tested some routes with the Navigon, a Magellan 2200T and a Garmin Streetpilot 2610 at the same time and they all chose the same routes.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

So many cheap GPS around, but this one is way below keeping it. Screen is of substandard brightness and bad antiglare coating so that in sunny day you mostly see your own reflection (what the nuts was its designer?!), Day/Night screen does not work properly, always lags for 20-30 meters; slow at start; only a quarter of available POIs installed (need download for a looot more) but its SD card is almost full; no movie player, does not auto switch on/off etc. And, in general, 3.5" size is not suitable for comfortable viewing for GPS after playing with 7" unit. Returned even at Thanksgiving price, thank you very much. Would probably keep it for less than $50, since you will trash it in a year like a garbage anyway.

I DON'T NEED A GPS TO GET ME TO & FROM PLACES I ALWAYS GO TO. I WANT IT TO TAKE ME TO & FROM PLACES I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET TO SO THAT I DON'T HAVE TO READ MAPQUEST DIRECTIONS WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE CRAZY ROUTES THAT THE NAVIGON WANTS ME TO TAKE WHEN I TESTED IT OUT GAVE ME NO CONFIDENCE IN IT AND LEFT ME AFRAID THAT IT WOULD GET ME LOST OR CONFUSED. IT ALSO CAN BE DANGEROUS. IT WANTED ME TO MAKE ILLEGAL U-TURNS ON MAJOR ROADS WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC WHERE I COULD EASILY HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IF I PURPOSELY MISSED AN EXIT TO MAKE IT RECALCULATE A NEW ROUTE IT WOULD WANT ME GO BACK TO SPOT I MISSED AND WANT TO GET ME BACK ON ORIGINAL ROUTE (WASTING 20 MILES) EVEN THOGH THE VERY NEXT FEW EXITS COULD EASILY GET ME TO MY DESTNATION. I ENDED UP RETURNING IT.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

This is my first GPS, unfortunately it is the baseline for my GPS experience, I have no experience with other units to provide a comparision. I have only found two disadvantages; the first, the "time of arrival" is extrememly inacurate. It appears the unit, always calculates 60 miles/hour as the rate of travel, no matter has fast you are traveling. As example, traveling from Oklahoma City to Topeka Kansas, the speed limit is 70 mph. The distant to the destination is acurate, but my arrival time was always out in left field, sometimes by over an hour. I assumed, it just needed a software patch. After navigating through Navigon's website and receiving feedback from their customer service, I can't even register the unit with the company to receive the "free updates" unless I have purchased the additional highway service from the retail store. My second complaint is the instructions books are worthless. Navigon should immediately refer a customer to download their manual from the web prior to attempting to learn how to use this through trial and error. On the plus side, I found it very fast and accurate at determining routes. The speech is clear and understandable, graphics are excellent at interchanges, the POI's are interesting. I will most likely return this unit and upgrade to a different model. I travel alot on the road and an accurate "time of arrival" is important to me.

loved this product at first. but after using it for awhile it sometimes gives wrong directions and sends you in the opposite direction of where you are going. then the traffic receiver went out after a month. the customer service for this item is very poor. they make you wait real long before they will even contact you about your problem. but it is the only gps unit that gives you free lifetime traffic so i will probably have it replaced and keep it , that is if the customer service dept. ever contacts me. but if i had it to do over i would probably not buy this unit if other gps units offered free traffic. i am real disappointed that this product has failed after only a month or two. and very disappointed in the poor customer service. so if you buy one and have problems, lots of luck getting it fixed. you may grow very old before you hear from navigon.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

I would have rated this unit five (5) stars but the out of the box mounting suction is "somewhat" less than desirable. Of course you could deviate and utilize an alternative method to securely mount the unit.

The text to speech feature is flawless. Speech is clear and easy to understand. Day/night screen feature works well. "Reality View" is terrific and necessary.

For the price my Navigon 2100 is an incredible GPS. I have a feeling that as time goes on, Navigaon GPS will become more popular and therefore more expensive. I am glad I purchased my unit when I did and I recently purchased a second unit.

I am returning the unit. Maybe this would be a good item if you live in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, or a big city, but for me, I live in a small town and this unit was absolutely terrible!! The streets would come up all wrong, and the distance? Forget about it! I would be literally 20 yds from a left utrn and it would say "In two miles, turn left". Are you kidding? If I followed this unit, I'd be charting new territory because there wouldn't be a street! I might even explore the lake because it would have me turn right into one.

I can only speak about where I live, and glub, glub, glub, get me OnStgar, I'm drowning!#@.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

Purchased this unit as a Christmas gift for my wife. She works in Miami and travels to a lot of different meetings. She has been using Mapquest to get around. I made the purchase while we were visiting NYC at the time. It was an accidental purchase because I intended to purchase a Magellan which turned to be sold out. I don't regret purchasing this unit. The directions were very good except for the fact that it did not identify as a dead end. There have been some changes occuring in that area due to new home construction. The unit did not reflect that change. When we traveled back home to Fort Lauderdale, the directions were pretty good. My wife has been using it the last few days and she loves her GPS. There are not a lot of frills (i.e. bluetooth, MP3) but the text to speech is very clear. This being said, I think this unit was well worth the money I spent. My brother-in-law checked out this unit. He returned the two Magellan units he purchased and purchased two of these units.

The nighttime feature and the overhead sign display is great especially in urban areas. You can charge the unit with an usb cable to your pc as well as with the lighter outlet. They claim they will have a map update first quarter of 08, no idea if they will charge you for it like others, or not. Did not like the windshield mount that came with it, bought a navimat at a local superstore and it works fine with the unit.

This GPS is horrible! It worked for about 7 hours when I initially purchased it. Then the problems started. First, the screen went blank and it showed it was linked to a PC when the charger was on in the car. Then it started losing connection to the satellites. The final straw for me was the completely out of the way routing of this system. When I would go another way which I knew to be more efficient and direct, it would continue to attempt to put me back on the original longer route. Also, the speed indication lags by about 15 mph. I am returning this garbage as soon as I finish writing this review. Don't waste your money!!!!!

Good device but it did not work or perform with me.I live in Los Angeles where the traffic is a normal way of life for us, the traffic feature did not work for me with this device, It did not indicate to avoid the route selected and it just took me right into it. Why anybody says about the problem powering the GPS ( you have to press the power botton for over 6 seconds )in order to turn the device on and off ( Does anybody Know the life time of pressing the botton before it breaks?),the autopower off does not work, the automode for DAY and NIGHT does not work either,Now at Sunlight is hard to read and the route options works like any other GPS, the GPS doesn't do miracles taking you for short cuts.I do have 3 different brands:Magellan 2200,Garmin StreetPilot c330 and Navman icn750.from the price and features.Magellan brands are better.Garmin( you have to pay to upgrade your maps???)Navman icn 750 ( So far the best for me)I'm not into bluetooth with the GPS-how many people are going to be on the phone using that feature- just buy a bluetooth headset for[$] and don't spend [$] extra just for that feature. My $2 cents use them or not will be up to you guys.

She had used it extensively and recommended it. I took the plunge and bought one. Since then I have used it extensively and have found it to be extremely easy to setup and use. I had it running in less than two or three minutes outside in the parking lot. The onscreen menus are extremely easy to use and very intuitive in nature. This unit is loaded with features that I was totally unaware of being available on a GPS unit. At the [$] price point this GPS is a steal. I would highly recommend it and actually plan on buying one for my father for Christmas.Negatives: Occasionally the screen will not recognize my finger-touches despite the key-color actually changing on the screen. Some of the routes it chooses are not the most direct despite which priority mode I set it for.I would still highly recommend this unit.

Great GPS with TTS and nice looks
By yvr from Rochester, MI on 12/3/2007
Pros:
Fast route calculation, High Quality, TTS
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

Best GPS. I've compared this to Mio, Garmin. Low end GPSs from other companies doesn't have TTS which is very important for my wife.
Route recalculation is fast and don't talk too much like Mios. Very accurate direction announcements based on your speed.

DISAPPOINTED
By The FreezerVerified Reviewer from Houston, Texas on 12/3/2007
Pros:
Free Traffic Updates, POI's By Name, Text to Speech
Cons:
Bad Menus, OLD Maps - Not Accurate
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

This could be a very good GPS for the money IF it had accurate maps. It also talks WAY, WAY too much!! Becomes annoying. Tells me to enter or exit the freeway I am on at every interchange. A poor and confusing effort to keep me going in the right direction. The Reality View at freeway interchanges is cute but distracting. Menus and options steps are overly complicated but still seem to be inadequate. Some tasks are difficult. Speaker is definitely sub-par. The unit is pretty but everything considered, overall below average. Even at a sale price it is NOT A GOOD BUY.

One of the better GPS out there
By DelVerified Reviewer from Portsmouth, NH on 11/26/2007
Pros:
Good Value
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

Intuitive, easy to use out of the box. Does not have to announce when it recalculates like other brands. Model 2100 does the job well. The text to speech feature is available with this model and is the most important feature I am looking for. Other brands at this price at discount or lower is only available with voice guidance which does not announce street names. The blue tooth capabilities are not found in this model which is alright by me as I have no need or interest for them. Overall, perforamance is great. It is fairly new so I haven't tested durability. The 2100T model has real time traffic announcement and the feature/subscription is free of charge unlike other brands with this feature.

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

Text to speeach. Lane asistance. Real world view. This product works fine. Unit is reliable and easy to use. Price for value can not be beat. Forget the Garmin,Tomtom bias (reviews often only say that the 2100 uses audible directions while others have text to speech). Have used it a week now and couldn't be happier. [...] If you prefer though to spend hundreds more so you have Garmin bragging rights and not functionality then so be it. Otherwise buy a navigon, [...]

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

I was highly tempted by the price of this unit and "one time traffic fee". So far, after a month of usage, I am very impressed by the quality and value behind this unit.
- It gets pretty quick gps fix on everyday usage, very good directions and POI. Worth every penny as review before said.

Now, just in case, developers of this device might read it.
Voice needs improvement and bigger selection of the voices would be awesome. Some streets and cities are spelled incorrectly due to Spanish origins of the names. Better reflection screen because under certain angle sun could effectively make screen unreadable. Programmed voice should spell "make the turn now" about a second earlier so driver has ability to slow down and make a turn in case he was destructed. (someones sitting in a passenger seat and thinking that he/she knows directions better)

I had my doubt about this unit. I own Garmin, two iQue3600 and one unit Nuvi 660. But this unit from Navigon was a surprising shocker, For the price and the life traffic subscription, you could not go wrong. I been using this unit for a week. No problem. I have great signal even inside my home.

Great Unit- Great Value For Your Dollar
By KarenVerified Reviewer from Wisconsin on 11/24/2007
Pros:
Announces street names, Durable, Good Value, Great Freeway Assistance, High Quality, Reasonably Priced, Sharp Color, Sleek look
Cons:
No Case Provided For Unit
Best Uses:
Everyday use, Freeway Use
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

I have researched and had the opportunity to actually test several types of units.
I found the Navigon 2100 very user friendly.
I am terrible on the freeway, so the #1 feature for myself is that when you are driving on the freeway it actually will tell you which lane/s to stay in and will actually bring up a view of the freeway automaically when going through a difficult area with many exits.
The 2nd best thing is that it has text to speech which will annouce the name of the street you need to turn on and will also let you know how soon to exit and what way to turn. Most units just say in .03 miles turn left for example and it may have a sharp left or a mild left turn and your not sure which one to take. This unit will actually tell you which one to turn on plus she announces the name of street. Other than my first two valued features there are still more good features with this unit. It's light, has an anti-glare screen, optional 3D views, and many other options to tweek your unit to your liking.
I also used the Garmin C330 unit which is the easiest gps I ever used. Anyone! I mean anyone could figure this unit out. It has large text and very good sound. I also tested the Mio C320 and I did not like it at all. The program speaker got on my nerves and did not give accurate directions. Between the Garmin C330 and the Navigon 2100 it was a toss up for me to decide, but I went with the Navigon 2100 because I liked the sleek look, like a mini flat screen tv and I liked the text to voice option and the freeway lane help.
I want to point out one thing, when you buy any gps, don't worry about the size of the screen. At first thought I was going to have a hard time seeing the screen, beleive me you barely look at it unless your entering an address or something which of course you would pull over to do or program it prior to starting your trip.
On every unit it is voice prompted, so don't let the size of the screen stop you from making a purchase.
The only cons I could even think of, is that the unit 2100 comes with a removable SD chip that has all of your maps etc on. Through-out the directions that were provided in the packaging it does not discuss how you would get an updated SD card with more current information on it if ever needed or how you would obtain another SD card if you lost it.
I also thought they could have included a hard case for you to store your unit in when not in use.
Other than that I love the Navigon 2100, and I am sure you will also.

Needs more detailed instructions
By Sunny from Crossville, TN on 11/24/2007
Pros:
Good Value
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

A more detailed instruction booklet would be helpfull. No weres does it say to hit the check button when programing. Do you leave the power cord from your cigarette lighter plugged all the time or only when the battery is down? You ready have to find out on your own how the unite works by trail and error. The suction cup doesn't hold very well, keeps falling off the dash. I do like it very much otherwise, it does what I want it to do. Great unite for the price!!!

Excellent turn-by-turn navigation!!!
By GPS Jim from Delran, NJ on 11/23/2007
Pros:
Good Value
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

Excellent turn-by-turn, instructions, provides plenty of notice to prepare for a turn. I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 and it would say to make a turn in .2 or less miles. The Navigon does the same however in addition to the warning, it will say " Turn now". The best feature is the lifetime traffic, I was able to get this for free with the purchase of the 2100 with a special savings. Voice prompts are clear, screen is clear and bright. Also, since I have a lead foot it provides speed warnings, a feature I did not discover until I played around a litte with the unit. System boots up quick and is ready to go right out of the box, very easy to use!

Comments about NAVIGON NAVIGON® 2100 GPS Navigator:

I'm a first time user of the GPS system. However, I did my research before purchasing. If Blue Tooth and Voice Command is important to you you may want to consider an upgrade. If you can do without these features this is the unit you want. For the bucks you're getting more than some units that cost double the price. The new reality view feature is awsome. Accuracy, voice and visual clarity, POI's, text to speech, prewarnings of turns and lane changes are to name a few features you must experience to believe. I'm accustom to spending top dollar for gadgets and sacrifice nothing, but when I looked at the frequency and relevance of the use of the features I sacrificed (Blue Tooth/Voice Command)verses features and new technology on the 2100 it only made sense to purchase this unit. You will not be disappointed.
