There are some people that wouldn't be happy with this (or any other camera) if it were FREE! The only down thing I can say about this is the Lag time, and you get used to that. For the cost of the camera, it has features on one found at nearly 3X the price. [...]

very nice camera for the price and it is lower than I paid back in February. The display is great, no squinting. The pictures are crisp. I took a trip to Washington DC to photograph the capital and the pictures came out better than I thought. I was a novice but the camera compensated for my naivate.

This camera is great. The image quality is amazing. As for the user manual, its on the CD. Just right click on your CD drive and hit open, and its under (suprise of all suprises) User Manual. All digital cameras that use AA batteries will eat through alkaline, this one included. A pair of lithium AAs will fix that problem. The menus are easy to use and get to, and are very easy to understand. The auto features, such as the autoflash and autofoucs are much more reliable than on other cameras. Overall, this is an amazing camera.

Great Camera !
By BassethoundVerified Reviewer from Kernersville, NC on 4/22/2008
Pros:
A lot of features, Bright LCD, Comfortable Controls, Easy Setup, Easy to Keep Clean, Strong Construction
Best Uses:
Art, Documentary, Fun, Photojournalism, Travel
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have read the other reviews, and the negative ones I do not agree with. All digital cameras are battery hogs--this one seems no worse than others. Get a good set of rechargeables and keep an extra pair on hand. There is a good set of instructions that comes with it, 24 pages worth--you just have to take the time to find it on the cd and then print it if you need a hard copy.
Now about the pictures. I have taken a lot of really great pictures wth the camera after spending a minimal amount of time learning how to use the pre-programmed settings. The anti-shake technology has been great, giving me blur free pictures with just about anything I throw at it. The pre-programmed settings are represent by easy to understand icons, and there are enough of them to cover most settings, from lanscape to sunsets to beaches and sports action shots, and more. I used the sports action shot to take a picture of a canoe crashing through white water and not only was it blur free, it froze the water in place and showed it all crystal clear. I went to a farmers market and took scores of beautiful vibrant shots of flowers using the macro setting. I have taken pictures of sunsets that were the most beautiful shots from any camera I have ever used. I don't know how this camera compares to its much more expensive counterparts, but I am definately happy with what I got. I highly recommend.

This warranty saved of lot trouble after the screen , without cause, stopped working. With no instructions at all, much less to solve this problem it sadly isn't a very good deal.

Bright LCD
Cons:
LENS STICK OPEN, Weak Construction
Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I returned the first of these cameras that I got at Christmas after about a week. RadioShack was kind enough to make an even exchange with the camera. Now the new camera is doing the same thing about just a few uses. The lens sticks open and the camera will stay on only a few moments.

I did not like this camera.
By Not thrilled from Denver, CO on 2/9/2008
Pros:
Bright LCD, Comfortable Controls, Easy Setup
Cons:
Long Lag Time
Best Uses:
Fun
Describe Yourself:
Casual user
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This camera has some really great features on it. The lag time on this camera is long though. I use this camera to take pictures of my toddlers and they moved before the camera can snap the shot. They see the first flash and think the picture is done, move and the second flash snaps the picture. Works better for still pictures. The battery life is extremely short. I took 4 pictures and the batteries were dead. I also had a problem with the camera shutting itself down. The user's guide needs to be more informative.

I love this camera, with any digital camera you need to buy the nickel rechargable batteries. All my digital cameras used batteries like water. I loved the pics i took in the snow and mountains. Came out great, the one downfall is that when it got too cold it would shut off, which i guess isnt a real downfall it was saving itself.

It's cute, it's compact, but like most digital cameras the lag time is horrible. I photograph puppies and by the time it takes the picture, the puppy is nowhere in sight! Pictures are clear and crisp but I don't understand why a users manual is not included - or at least on the accompanying CD!!

Actually Pretty Nice

Pros:
CheapStandard SD Memory, Comfortable Controls, Takes great photos
Cons:
Battery Sucker
Best Uses:
Fun, Travel
Describe Yourself:
Casual user
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I got this camera for christmas. I've never heard of the brand but this camera actually takes great pictures. I took about 50 right after I opened it up. Took out my SD card and checked the photo quality on my laptop and it was great. This may be harder to use for those who do not like a lot of options and controls though. You can still use it out of the box but all the settings can really be tweaked.Even the ability to take slow shutter pictures like the ones you see in magazines where a slow shutter will make car lights on dark roads stretch out across the entire photograph and into the distance.Only problem I have seen so far is the consumption of battery power, which is fairly high. I'm using the Radioshack batteries I got with it though. I'm going to look into some better ones.Still, I think this is a pretty good camera unless you're a professional photographer with a big ego maybe.

Where is the manual/book
By sarndav from WV on 12/18/2007
Pros:
nice viewing screen

Im not sure how well I like the camera. I do know that the batteries dont last anytime at all. I like the big lcd screen.
But,,,,,where in the world is the manual. You have to get the camera info from the cd that came with camera. Like who has time to go through all that. I want a book that I can refer to.

Got it on sale, not too impressed.
By Ratchet of Knoxville from Knoxville, TN on 12/3/2007
Pros:
Durable
Cons:
Low Quality
Best Uses:
Dollywood pictures
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I got this @ Black Friday sale. It does take good pictures, but the battery life is dismal. The menu is kind of confusing to use, so I don't recommend it to the elderly or technilogically challanged. It also takes a second or 2 after you press the button for it to actually take the picture, so sometimes the moment is lost. I plan on taking it back for a refund and buying another camera.

OK i got this camera on Black Friday for [$].I was playing around with it taking pictures and everything adding the software to my computer and all that good stuff until it shows REPLACE BATTERY.At that moment I was very ticked off. The same day I get it, it run's out of battery?!The camera is great and all that but it's not like I have money to waste on battery every time I take pictures.Right now i would recommend the GE E850. I'm planning to get that camera that comes with a CHARGER!Hope this review helped.

Poor Quality
By gkelley3 from Tampa, FL on 11/23/2007
Pros:
Large Display
Cons:
Bad Value, Cheaply Made, Horrible pictures, Horrible sound quality, Low Quality
Best Uses:
I returned it same day
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This camera, priced at [$]on Black Friday seemed like a good deal. It is not.Even though it is an 8MP camera, the picture quality, on the highest setting is horrible. It also takes .avi movies, however the sound quality is very tinny and distorted. The case is cheaply made and I got the feeling that the battery compartment would not take too many openings and closings before it snapped off.I hope you have better luck than me. I returned it same day for a better quality, though a little more expensive, camera.
