I have a lot of rc's and this is one of my favorites. To get better run time you should get a 3300 mAh or better battery and a ni-mh battery is better for longer run time.

So, I bought this thing on sale to chase the dog around at the park. After 30$ in batteries and a 5hr battery charging wait. This thing was ready to rock. It is a great, tough and fast little vehicle. It kept up with the dog just fine but as soon as you get 30 feet away from the controler it just stops. Unfortunatly it has nothing but a wound up wire for a reciver antena. This is the trucks acheles heel. The dog and I were disapointed and just returned it...

Absolutely a great buy for the money. Buy this truck with an eye toward proving your skills and understanding of R/C vehicles, but carefully test it's limits. Young kids and novices will get discouraged easily as the power of the vehicle will cause it to get out of control quickly. Advanced pilots will love getting this thing on edge, popping wheelies, jumping, and seeing just how many things it does. Be warned though...... it goes fast enough to crash very hard and do major damage - but, that's half the fun!

i work for radio shack and im here to tell you that for the price this is one of the best trucks you can buy. i race proffesionally in the r/c world and i know all about these. aluminim axles. changable tires(even to aftermarket). if you buy a truck like that in a hobby store its about 600 dollars or more. you get what you pay for. these are real 4wd with quality driveline parts. plastic frames break easy but what do you want for under 100 dollars. instead of saying they are poorly constructed try teaching your kids to take care of stuff. ive jumped and flipped mine over 100 times and have yet to break anything. i own 4 of these trucks(modded and stock). for the price i would recommend this to anyone. by the way most of the replacement parts for this truck are about 2-15 dollars at your local store. we can provide replacements for broken parts.

Also we play on an old foundation where a building burnt and i jump it off of the loading dock about 3 to 4 feet and land on the wheels and keeps going. Do not use the track they stink. unplug the lights they draing the battery bad. and try to waterproof the computer board if it gets wet take about 2 days to dry if you take it apart.

I have many RC Vehicles and this Hummer is by far the best vehicle yet. It is very fast and very durable off-road. All of my other vehicles could not drive off-road let alone climb things. It can climb up steep hills off-road that other vehicles couldn't climb if it was pavement. This truck is faster with the tires, but much more contollable with the Mattracks. I have flipped it many times and all that has happened is the sideview mirror fell off. It is a huge battery consumer (kind of like the real Hummer with gas). I have other cars that have the same battery, so I use multiple batteries, which I would recommend. This truck is a great buy and will keep you entertained for as long as the batteries last. Definately buy this truck.

Great as as a TOY, not Hobby Grade.
By Long time RCer from Kissimmee, FL on 1/9/2008

Porportional steeringspd, Size, Speed with wheels
Cons:
Loose Plastic Bushings, Shocksdampers, Soft Steering Servo Saver, Unbalanced Wheels

Describe Yourself:
Education Oriented, Parent of Two or More Children, Working Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Well worth [$]. Has some hobby level attributes like proportional steering/speed and high speeds (with wheels on )which make it well worth the [$]. Cons: Unbalanced hard compound wheels, plastic bushing, hard spring suspension and a very loose servo saver. Worst con: the unbalanced wheels in combination with the loose bushings giving the truck a bouncy unbalanced ride worse at high speeds. Over all this is a good value as long as keep in mind that it is a toy. Have fun.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

There are a lot of reviews on this Hummer. Some good...some not so good. As for me, an experienced RC hobbyist for many years, I think this truck is a very good buy. It does have some issues... one is a short battery life. But, if you buy the 7.2 volt 3300mah NiMH battery instead of the 2000mah NiCd then you should get a lot more run time out of the truck. RadioShack carries both batteries so choose wisely. In addition, you can also buy a 7.2 volt 4500mah NiMH on the internet for about [$]. This battery will last almost an hour in the truck when fully charged. As for other issues.... the truck tends to flip over a bit too easily. The quality control isn't all that great either but for the money its probably better than most. We have two of these Hummers and the neat thing is that you can run up to 3 at the same time because of the RC frequency control selection ("A", "B", or "C" channels). I'd recommend this Hummer for kids 10+ and even for parents who want to play with their kids.

I bought this for my 5 year old son to play with in the backyard. It has plenty of power to go fast on deep grass and sturdy enough to withstand all of his crashes. I highly recommend the ultra fast charger and 2 of the red, higher capacity batteries as this is a battery drainer on the grass. This way by the time one drains the other is recharched and ready to go.

I have always liked remote controlled cars and this is the the best one I have had. I even use it in the snow and it runs great! The 4 wheel drive is incredible. I do wish the axles were locked and the stickers suck but other than that it is very attractive. The tracks are fun but the tires are much faster and still pull through the grass and snow.

This truck doesn't have as much body weight as my old f-150, and it just kinda bounces around. The wheels are also unbalanced and wobble even though i tighten it more and more.

I received this present for Christmas from a close friend. Overall the truck is very attractive and I charged the battery overnight. I took it out to the patio area of my home and the car lasted for only 4 minutes before it began stalling and dying on us. Also, there was no instruction manuel in the box. I think the headlights and tail lights drain the battery too much. I wouldn't recommend this toy to anyone for fun.

This item is pretty good, not the best for sure.
the mattracks look cool, but they are not that great. they slow the car down alot. they are really really bad in the snow, but, if you want to do any really hardcore off-roading, use the tires. I might only be 14, but I have about 200-300 big rc cars, I like to collect them. and I know alot about them. this, inperticular is a good rc truck, I would reccomend it to anyone 10 or older. the battery life sucks, but, just get a few more batterys.
good truck overall!

truck looks real cool and it is. i hate the battery life. it lasts 10 minutes and DIES completely. lights on it always stay on unless they're disconnected. the mattracks are useless. you can't pffroad the truck because the motor is way too weak and the turning on them is bad. you can't climb anything with it because of the brush guards. very very slow with the mattracks.

Cons:
Bulky, Unappealing Design
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The Mattracks are a nice gimick but, not very useful. You can't steer with them unless it's moving and even then, the steering is very loose. Plus, it won't climb even a small hill. With the tires on it does go a bit faster and will climb hills a little better but, the steering flops back and forth like mad in reverse. The 4 wheel independent suspension is practically useless because it's too stiff and there's almost no ground clearance because the battery tray (which runs the length of the vehicle) is just as low to the ground as the axles.

I'm writing this review for the Ford F-350 Super Duty I have, which is from the Mattracks line of RC vehicles. I love this truck, especially because of the Mattracks, which make it really unique. I've never had any problems with it, and I beat this truck to death. The independent four wheel suspension is awesome, and the spring shocks allow it to do things most other RC vehicles can't. The only bad thing is the short battery life. To combat this, I've bought a couple more batteries since I bought the the truck in December '04, and always keep one on the 1 hour fast charger I have.

I think this is a great truck. My brother had the older f- 350 version. I have completly burried that thing under water. The thing still runs today. And for all of you that think it has a bad battery, go to a local hobby shop and buy a bigger battery. Just don't go to big or you'll blow it up.It is cool because i made a boat trailer for it and could back it up and drive the boat. What ever you do don't try to climb hard stuff cuase you'll blow the trans. This is a Great truck for begginers. And if you still don't get enough battery power un hook the lights.

We silaconed the bottom in case snow got on it. Outdoor toy. Great power. I am looking at getting 3 more for nephews (have 2)

The car preforms well at first but I had to replace it more than 3 times because the engine overheated the battery and the battery melted to the inside of the truck and the housing for the battery sucked as well but besides that it was a great RC truck!

This truck is good for that price. I used it to steal parts but for the first few days its good. more of a "show truck". Overall its an awesome truck. Looks cool and the whole tracks are cool. THough i would recomend upgrading the motor, the lack of power isnt to big, but its worth the upgrade.(for those who have the skill to)

This truck is graet for first time users to learn how to drive an rc. It has Ok power with the wheels on but real slow with the tracks. I found it has no climbing power. And dont try and jump this thing like I did and bent it all up. It does pretty good in some snow conditions. This thing is a battery hog. I bought two six cell batterys for it an you will get about 4 or 5 minuets of good power ang 4 minuets of dying power out of each. Its a good indoor truck if you have lots of space and keep it clean wich I didnt.=)

Pros:
Durable, High Quality
Cons:
Expensive

This is an amazing rc truck. I have ran this thing to death and it still keeps on kicking. I'm going to have to buy new tires for the thing. I have rolled it many times, and I just turn it back over and keep going. It's kind of expensive, it doesn't come with the battery, but if you do purchase it, it is well worth it.
