Comments about iGo iGo® Autopower8 Adapter:

I bought this charger because I could use it for my cell phone and GPS. [...] I had lost my GPS adaptor and [...] if I ever got a new phone, I would just be able to buy a new tip for the phone. I have searched on line and at 3 Radio Shack stores and have not been able to find a tip. NOT A GOOD BUY after all. I paid extra for this charger and now it is useless since, I found the GPS car charger and got a new phone

Comments about iGo iGo® Autopower8 Adapter:

My mother bought this for my nephew's phone, and although it looked like it was working, it never charged his phone. She lost her receipt so she couldn't return it. Thinking that maybe it was not compatible with that particuler phone, she gave it to me. I got the proper tip for my phone and tried it with the same result. Since I couldn't return it I decided to investigate. I tested the output at 3.08 volts DC open circuit, and my wall charger puts out 6.08 volts open circuit. I pryed the case open and found very poor workmanship. Solder blobs, possibly overheated components, destroyed circuit traces (PCB "wires"). As an electronic technician of more than 30 years, I must say that this is the quality I would expect from a dollar-store product, certainly not from Radio Shack.

The cost of a new tip compared to buying new chargers everytime you change phones- Priceless.

I have had the iGo for 4-5 years. I use it all the time in the car and our boat to charge my cell phone, DS, GPS, portable DVD player and lap top. It is great only one cord to keep track of. You do have different tips to keep track of but I keep them all in a small container in the glovebox.

I've had the same igo for YEARS, about 4-5 through multiple phones and devices! It never let me down and I totally love it! My old one finally gave out on me b/c of a FOOT stepping on it, and I will be purchasing a new one ASAP! I hate getting in my vehicle w/o it. I have recommended this product to several friends and family members, and they all love it as much as I do. If you are considering this product, DO BUY IT!

Comments about iGo iGo® Autopower8 Adapter:

I believe the only reason why the IGo doesnt work or is working inconsistantly for some of the people reviewing this product is misuse or abuse. I have used this product for years and have yet to have any problems. Go ahead and buy a cheap $10 charger from a convienant store or a big box retailer and see how long it last...hmmm about 2 weeks...then when you upgrade your phone, you have to buy a new charger...

I used the iGo for a few years while I had a Razor phone and was pleased to find out that I just had to buy a new tip when I got my iPhone. The tip was $14.99 which seemed kind of pricey, but it works great!!! I was sure I was going to have to buy a whole new charger and I am glad I didn't have to. It also charges my phone while the car is off-this might vary from car to car, but I have found this to be very useful when camping and such:)I've had the same charger for almost three years now and its never had issues. Great product!!!

I spent over [$] on a complete iGo system for my car. After four trips back to the RadioShack it still has components that do not work. I've returned two car powersources, two splitters, and one powertip. The third splitter and the second powertip don't work, so back for a refund on the entire system iGo, get it? Seriously, save your time, just get multiple factory chargers and alternate them. These clowns obviously haven't heard of quality control!!!

This has works flawlessly for 3 years. The only trouble I had was actually from my phones batteries. The pre-USB Motorola connector on the phone was bad as was the battery. My Ericsson was the same. I use this for my IPOD all the time. I even have my IPOD, V3i, and headset all plugged in at the same time (with some creative splicing) an have yet to have problems. All my problems originated from my phones connectors or batteries and had nothing to do with the iGO.

This charger is going to save you money. Up front, 30 for the charger and 10 for each tip. So, if the charger lasts through another 2 phone upgrades/changes it has paid for itself. Mine certainly has. I also bought the splitter. Before my bf and I were having to use both outlets in thr truck and chargers were evrywhere. Now, we just use the one outlet one charging cord and we can charge our phones at the same time. I bought the tip for his phone and mine since they're different. Everytime we go places he steals it out of my car so, I bought myself a new one! Very handy. I also charge my Ipod. Love it! I have the LG shine and he has a moto razr. Works perfect for both.

Comments about iGo iGo® Autopower8 Adapter:

I have had this device for three years and it is very inconsistent in working properly. I read the reviews here and found that I had similiar problems. Can anyone say recall, as far as I am concerned that should have been done by IGO. I have had many inconsistencies with this product, I have had one primary phone and I have had problems when I change the tip. With the same phone I returned the tip three times to Radio Shack and it still does not charge the phone. The one time I brought it back they said the reason I was experiencing the problem was because it was the wrong tip, so I got a different tip. That worked for a whole month and then I was back at square one. The problem is the phone either shuts off when I plug the tip in, or turns on or even better it does not charge at all(which is the what happens all the time). I think that the product is to cheap and once the tip bends in the slighest you get a short in the tip and or it does not make contact with the phones connectors.

I noticed that there are several great comments, then some average and then some not so good, so I thought I'd add my experience with this product. I've had my charger for about 3 years, and over that time I've switched cell phones 3 times. My fiancee also uses this charger with her phone. So I have used 4 different tips with 4 different phones, and never had any trouble. We're currently only using two tips with our two most current phones. It works great. I've also had in plugged into several different vehicles, and I've never had a problem with it. I only wish there was some sort of trade in program so that over time as you accumulate more tips, you can send them back for credit towards new tips.
