Not fun to control
By Nick from Southern IL on 12/30/2009
Pros:
Looks cool on my shelf
Cons:
Directional control hard, Nothing fun about it, Rotates uncontrollably, Slow response to throttle
Best Uses:
Biggest open room
Describe Yourself:

Primary use:
Personal
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

I have flown other remote control helicopters and thought they were difficult at first then got alot better with practice. The micro mosquito has poor throttle response. Then rotates on its axis horribly. Just when you get that somewhat uncontrol and start to try and move it directionally, it responses but dips and drifts horribly. There is nothing graceful about this helicopter. I was severely disappointed. Other much cheaper helicopters offer better control and more fun.

Good once I changed the rotors...
By deej from Portland, OR on 11/6/2009
Pros:
Fun, Well Constructed
Cons:
Batteries Not Included
Best Uses:
Indoors, Older Children
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

Hard a hard time controlling this when I first got it as the rotors seemed unbalanced, I had a "Micro-Bee" purchased from Frys that I didn't like too much and thought the rotors from the Micro-Bee would work better on this....so I Frankensteined the two and now it's awsome, more durable, and very easy to control.

At first, I thought it would be fun... and it was... Even when it crashed, it was ok since spare props were available... now. NO spares are available; and you can't fix it any other way...
Good Luck. Try another vendor and another type of indoor craft. They're out there.

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

Take it easy when U first learn to fly and this unit will give U hours of trouble free flying. I suggest take several charges and only hover it until U get the feel of the controls. I took time taking off and landing on a bed until I felt comfortable. Then it was anything goes and I've had a total blast flying this unit. Trouble free.

when you go to buy replacement blades etc they purposly make them look exactly like other models even the clerk gave me the wrong ones. And if you do get wrong ones even though they look identical do not try to fit because there made just a bit different so when you try you will destroy them.and if you think super glue,or using a hot paper clip or tape or anything else will fix it 4 get it!take them back right away!they really did there homework on this one.you will be stuck with it after purchase.

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

Has odd quarks compared to the VERY stable Micro Mosquito 3.0. Should I say, just like the Micro Mosquito 3.0 only way more noticeable. Ease into the forward throttle and it wants to fall, so you apply more vertical power, but by doing that the direction goes a little off and it wants to torque off to one side. But with a little tweaking of the trim, practice and a steady hand, I have gotten better at it. This unit also has the ability to float left and right if you put it in 4 channel mode. Take a LOT of practice. Unit is VERY durable. Run time is not as good as the older Micro Mosquito 3.0. The Mosquito 3.0 honestly is the better little chopper. But its not as fast. Its a bummer that RadioShack seems to have discontinued it. I would recommend it, but keep in mind that this thing takes a few hours of practice before your not crashing it every time. If you can find the older Micro Mosquito 3.0 I would suggest getting that instead. Unit is VERY durable. Run time is not as good as the older Micro Mosquito 3.0. The Mosquito 3.0 honestly is the better little chopper. But its not as fast. [...]

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

Very good. At first, I recommend using it on low heights, and getting used to adjusting the trim while flying. I don't understand how it can't come with batteries; the helicopter has them put in. But the only complaint I have is charging time (30 minutes per 6-9 minutes of flight). Besides that, it is easy to fly, handle, and once you get the hang of it you will be able to literally fly circles around people's heads!
Takes about a month to learn good control.

Just wanted to say its fun helo, but if you live in high populated area it will not function well due to RF noise pollution like most RF toys. 27MHz and 49MHz. "Cell phones, cordless phones, RF TV remotes, and WiFi will affect its range. Best time i had was way out in the boonies at the beach. Clam day flew like a charm. Has about the same durability as a real helo.

This was my first venture into the world of small RC Helicopters. The first thing I can recommend it READ THE MANUAL!!! The second is, this is an IN-DOOR helicopter ONLY! Give yourself lots of room and start out slow to get the hang of controlling this unit. At first you'll see that even in 3ch it is sensitive to control movements. Learn to hover, then learn to move forwards and backwards. As you learn the controls you'll quickly find yourself having a blast. Then you can try the 4ch settings for even more challange and fun. Great product, older kids and adults only, not a small kids toy.

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

At first i was so excited to get this product for my son's birthday! But the problems began when he started using it. It says in the product description that it will fly indoor and outdoor. I soon found out this was not true. When my son flew it outside it started wobbling and crashed. It is not very durable in ANY wind. Also i do not think this product is worth the money. Total rip off also in the product description it says that it "zips through the air" it does not.. It barely even moves it just floats in the air and kinda swerves to the left and right. Also my son was flying it in the grass and it wasn't even 2 feet off the ground and it fell and the back small motor for movement snapped off. Now it is unusable so we threw it away. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS!! You can get an even better micro helicopter for [$].

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

After ordering a few different heli's online and returning them for being defective I was about to give up. I read a lot about specs on different models and decided to try one last time with this guy. I'm 36 and I think it's an absolute blast. It'll definitely take a lot of practice to master, but that's part of the fun. It controls very well and holds up to a lot of crashes (which will happen.) I would not let my young kids play with it. It's lightweight of course (it has to be) so it should be handled accordingly. The 30-minute charge to 5-minute flight time is about as reasonable as you'll find. Beware of false advertising. One heli that I ordered said it was a 90-minute charge for a 15-minute flight. When I received it, the manual said 2-hours for 5-minutes.

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

This held up to all the crashing until I learned how to use it and held up to my cats swatting at it when I chased them with it (Very funny might I add). The first thing to break on it was the tail rotor but I really crashed hard before it did that (Ceiling to ground kinda crashes). Over all its durability is good but the charge doesn't last long. Luckily it doesn't take too long to charge either. Over all its a good buy.. a bit pricey but worth it look for it on a sale.

This is not an easy thing to master, it's challanging and that makes it fun. As for the fly time, thats part of the challange. Get it to do what you want it to do in a short time.

I like this one, Interactive Toys do a good job with this one... I know a lot of people complain on how hard is to fly it but isn't as hard as it looks if you concentrate and practice the basics (hovering on one area, going up and down nicely) before thinking to fly it arround the room.

I have crash a couple of times my 4x4 and nothing is broken at this point, the LiPo battery last more than 5 minutes (arround 7 to 9 per charge), I haven not experienced any interference with the control (I have a 49mhz one)... I'm really pleased with this heli!

I flew this helicopter at the store and I must say, if you don't like this helo you shouldnt be flying RC's. It is so easy to control. If you read how to fly this thing, you will have it in the air in no time. By far this is the most stable Helo i have flown. The only downside is it doesnt go forward very fast which can be helped with a slight weight adjustment.

Not for high altitude areas
By Robotics Guy from Laramie, Wyoming on 12/28/2008
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

One should be careful to find out more specs on these helicopters. This particular one will not fly at 7200 ft, which is the altitude where I live. In fact, Wikipedia notes that the maximum altitude is 4000 ft. This fact will only affect a few of you readers, but it is worth noting. At 7200 feet all it does is climb to about 1 foot and then spin, despite "trimming" from the R/C.

I have never had an R/C heli before, but I think its great. Yes the rotors sometimes break, but look at the thing its light weight and made from thin plastic so it doesn't get weighed down. I've hit walls, ceilling fans, xmas tree!! and still have parts from the replacement set they give you. It's NOT a toy!! It takes practice but once you get the hang of it, it's awsome.... just wish it came with a another battery and a means of charging it so you can have unlimited fly time. For the people complianing about the battery issue, buy the plug in adaptor for the charger.

Best Uses:
Indoors

Bottom Line:

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

The best thing about this product is the trim is on the controller. The Blades are protected by a ring that will protect it from hitting edges, Control really is poor if you had a airhog before your not going to like this at all.
It wont fly around the room and you don't need 6 C batteries
it has a charge port that you wont know about until you open the package. Does fly go up and down left to right alittle, forward and backward about 2 inches at best. The airhog will tear up faster but a better buy.

all these people that do not like this product, should really give it a chance. there IS replacement blades as some people point out. also..it says in the Manual. READ FIRST BEFORE REMOVING PRODUCT! that is what the manual is for. geez...this is a great toy to play with. i love chasing my 4 big dogs with it..=)

well...im done...and thank you Interactive Toy for coming out with the best indoor helicopter i have bought...=)

NOT RECCOMENDED FOR BEGGINERS!!!! get the micro misquito 3.0 first that is an intermediate flyer; the 4x4 is expert and is a 4 channel. The 4x4 is to hard to fly if you haven't flown a intermediate before. I think it's is great but... Batteries aren't included; you'll have to buy one 9 volt battery and 6 c's. The 6 c's are the only con but they make it worth it 10 times over...
I have the micro misquito and the micro misquito 4x4 they both fly great and work awesome!!!!! good luck flying and dont break anything!!! lol thats why they have replacement kits

It is a craft that needs learning to use. I would like to see the batteries last longer since as they go down the change in rotor speed starts the thing to spin which causes you to constantly adjust the rear rotor speed to compensate. I tour the house with it but I am still learning control. For the money it is pretty good. Just relax and learn.

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

If one doesn't have experience flying this type of model, IT IS NOT A TOY, and a LOADS of patience I can see them not liking the experience. One has to crawl before one can run and trust me this baby runs. It is fairly tough too though. I have hit the sides of glass table top's corners, a non-running ceiling fan, cabinets TV's and one of my cats even batted it out of the sky. The only result was that one of the tail rotors came off: I put it back on and I was off flying into things again right away. This thing isn't easy to fly at all, but if one tries to learn it slowly I believe it will be an absolute blast. I have had no experience with RC aero devices at all, but I am getting better every time I fly it. Adding super glue and tape or anything else to an oblect like this is going to change it's center of gravity and hence its performance everytime. It is not a tank, but I think its pretty tough all the same. I would suggest that some of the other reviewers that gave this baby a bad review to try again in a large open room and just start by learning to hover and then move on. If I can fly this thing, especially with a room full of attack cats, then anyone with some patients can too. As I am discovering, the effort is quite rewarding. Next week I plan on biting the cat with my mosquito. Ha Ha Ha.

Stick with original mosquito
By Mosquito RacerVerified Reviewer from Savannah Ga on 11/23/2008
Pros:

Cons:
Difficult to Control, Poor Construction, Tail rotors sure to break, Taints name of original, Too heavy for durabilty, You'll run out of glue
Best Uses:
Collecting, Collecting Super Glue, Sitting on stand
Describe Yourself:
Collector, RC Hobbyist
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Interactive Toy Concepts Interactive Toy Concepts Micro Mosquito 4x4 RC Helicopter:

The 4x4 is much heavier then the original Mosquito (should have given exact weight but left scale at home) so if/when she falls from the air it does more damage to itself the the original. Rather difficult to control also compared to original. Strafing side to side practically impossible. Hard plastic looks good but it seems to add to much weight. Tail rotors are almost gauranteed to break right where they attatch to the tailboom. Original Mosquito is so much better I want another one for when mine is charging.

I went with my husband to buy this as an early Christmas present. He had two Havocs and knows how to fly RC helis. So, we decided to spend a bit more, even bought the rotor kit.

So... let's start with the excessive packaging and tape. This makes it immensely difficult to remove form the package. Additionally, the tape was even on the rotors, and wouldn't you know, removing the heli from the packaging broke one of the round rotors.

So, we replaced it and launched the thing after charging. The thing barely crashes, and guess what? The rear rotor breaks. He makes a fix with super glue. Another launch and the rear breaks again, with wire hanging. This part of the aircraft is no longer "healthy."

My husband continues to repair and replace rotors. Please keep in mind, he is not flying this thing very fast or into numerous objects such as a ceiling fan or our dogs.

Finally, he takes what will be the heli's final launch.... The tail rotors are no longer working properly due to the constant repairs and as a result another crash occurs. Again, not a massive crash, a rather soft one. But this fragile machine can't take it. The rod that holds the main rotors snaps along with its wires. Super glue and his friends tape cannot fix this.

So after having this at home for 5 hours we are out 120 bucks (we bought the extra rotor kit and power plug) and I have a really sad husband.

frustrated.

...before I finally broke the rotor blades. And I've seen replacements at Radio Shack. I just haven't picked up a set yet. My experience is very different than the other reviewer's. I tried those other single rotor copters... They're great if you're lucky enough to get a good one & then add a bit of weight to the nose. I bought & returned 3... I suppose I was not lucky. This one is controllable. I'm gonna get new blades and "play" with the cat!
