I have had this car for a year now. It's a good car but there is no body kit. When i first got it, the car seemed fast. But after a little while it seemed slow. So I did a couple test on it. I drag raced against my Ford F-150 which has a 2-stage motor,racing wheels, and etc. It only lost by a car length. So I ask people if that was bad or good. They all said that is good. I still thought it was to slow. So I put a 2 stage motor in it. O man, it flys now. I love this car.

It nice in all but when i first bought it it handle good but when i used it more the handling was way off, but it was a nice buy, I traded the body out for a complete custom Infiniti GS5.

I use my xmod not only as a toy car, but because of the easily accessible inner workings, I use it as an experimentation platform. This is a great car if you are the kind who has to tinker and customize everything you own. It's also very durable; my car has withstood all sorts of damage from brothers. The only problem that I had with my car is that the steering was off for a little while when I first got it. You need some rechargeable batteries, as it guzzles alkalines faster than you can buy them.

ive owned about five xmods (2firebirds 1hummer and two of these) i absolutely love the detail and power they get right out of the box. i put a gear kit and awd upgrade on one of mine, and now it just needs a body kit to make it complete and perfect!

The product is pretty cool. the bodies of the cars are very detailed and accurate. there are also a ton of upgrades that you can do to make it better. they are somewhat hard to control but the upgrades help a lot.

I have a few x mods but this one is by far the fastest and possibly my favorite, its only up against a 2005 mustang gt with a stage 2 motor and awd and 1 other work in progress Comaro, But even with a stage 1 motor it blows my 05 mustang out of the water, but the 05 mustang is used for drifting so it doesn't have to go at blazing speeds, one thing I wish was better was the turning ratio, but that can be fixed with a suspension kit. Overall its still very good. The pros out weigh the cons by a mile. The best thing is I got it on sale [$], Its worth any reasonable price.

These cars are fun to drive and are good for indoors, they go fast and are made well, with working shocks, changable motor options, and other visual upgrades. I have 5 Xmods so far and this one is my Favorite. I wish that RadioShack would have the Xmod truck line again.

I just got mine 2 days ago and plan on modding it with every mod I can get. Only thing I dont like is the color so I'm having a friend put a custom paint job on it. going to have it painted candy apple red. this is a must for anyone that wants a customizable rc car but doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on one of the big rc vehicles.

This is best rc car I ever had. The chrome the mufflers the bumpers everything. I did some modding and now it is the ultimate dragster. The only bad thing is that paint dosent stick to the body easily but I took care of that.

I like this black version of this 65 Mustang and the first thing that came to mind after reading alot of reviews was, what will I do to make this car perform and look great? The answer is Modding it the best I could with what I got. If you have Gen2 Xmods then just use your favorite parts and put them to use. Here are pictures of mine when it was complete.

over all this is awesome. as i have read in other reviews, u cant change the "cristals". WHO CARES!!!! it is still fun. and y would u want 2 race 2 of the same cars? it is great. i got mine today and it was my first one. other reviews that say it is junk or garbage, THEY R WRONG!! it is durable. (obviously dont drive it off a flight of stairs!)it steers great and it goes fast. if u have it on high. u can actually change the speed of the motor from the remote. also u can change the steering trim from the remote also!!! cool. i was drawn to this car by the looks and the fact that i have a collection of zipzaps(remember those!) they mostly broke over the years. but i expect great results from the xmod i have. i want 2 race it but as many others say that u cant change the frequency as past xmods could. SO WHAT it still is great. i have 2 admit that it was hard at first 2 screw on the wheel nuts because i couldnt figure out how 2 put them on and have the screw catch. hope 2 c more x mods.

They Really made this into a work of art. I have been a xmod enthusiast ever sine they hit the market. I am a proud owne of the Gen. 1 Toyota Supra and i loved it! When i bought this one,however, it smoked my supra and both of them were stock! wow! Now the mustang has a Stage 2 motor upgrade and tire upgrade and i couldnt be more happy!!!!!!

It's a pretty hot car and I love the fact that you can trick your xmod out for a small budget. I have had my Scion Tc evolution xmod for three years now and I have to say I am amazed at the performance. But dont buy this if you dont feel like oiling fixing pimping etc to this xmods I have the 2nd stage motor and other upgrades I am going to get this xmod and i am really suprised at how good this is

Xmods are good and all but they could be better than they are.. like the tools could be bigger!, and there should be much more body parts, such as body kits, rims, tires, headlights/tail lights(if they could be detached from the mod with out harming the mod), muflers,neon(more colors) and also have more veriaties of decal and vinyls would also be great and make the xmods more desriable for collectors and users such as me.

The radio range is good, but it mixes with the frequencies generated by other electronic devices, especially my cell phone. The Racing Crystal set can fix this.

The XMODS are not very durable. Well they are if you aren't trying to go airplane, but they really don't take agressive driving very well. There is a producer of after-market XMODS parts that you can order through the internet, and they make aluminum suspension parts, aluminum motor wrap backs for the Overland XMODS, and installing aluminum parts would greatly increase its durability.

The XMODS are really basic to modify and can do a lot in the means of entertainment for almost anybody. My advice? Make a point to keep it away from little kids. They crash the car into walls, can't figure out the steering, and it ends up being very little fun for them.

My favorite part of the car is the fact that they are compatible with almost all ordinary parts, available at hobby stores. The diversity in compatibility with other parts make the possibilities endless with the things you can do. Do yo have any idea how many times I have voided my warranty? The steering wire is held in place with duct tape, for crying out loud.

The botttom line is, I have had my XMODS Pontiac Fierbird for almost 3 years now. It still works and is just as much fun as it was when I bought it. It has been pretty well beat up by now, and it still works. I have fun with it daily and the XMODS RC car is far superior to any other small RC car I have ever driven.

as I indicated above I hope upgrades other than just motor are coming soon as in past models.I also agree with other rcers about not having changable crystals as my children and I play together but we can't use our new non changable ones because frequency interfearance.Overall great fun looking forward to whats to come next and hopefully upgrades for recent releases

Two biggest issues - non-interchangeable crystals and non-standard radio. Yes, you can mod it to use interchangeable crystals. No, you can't use your hi-end Futaba or Spektrum radio with this model. But even without any mods, this little car is fun, fun, fun! Just make sure that you have plenty of room and smooth surface - hardwood floor or linoleum indoors, smooth concrete outdoors. Don't use it on a carpet, or you may damage the motor and gears.

Recommended first upgrade: rechargeable batteries (NiMH on a budget, or LiPo for the ultimate runtime).

Hey, if ur really into xmods, take a crystal port off of an old broken xmod, and cut out top of chassis that covers the crystal and solder the port on in place of it. all you need to do is use an old controler then an shazzam!! interchangable crystals, so quit your snivling about these otherwise very well built cars

Bought a Koyosho NSX 1/28th Scale 7 years ago while overseas[$] (7 years ago!) and didn't think i could find anything more advanced...I was proved wrong. Additionally, my NSX was destroyed by my 1 year old and unlike this...I can repair it if it happens again. This ford xmod is a complex peace of work yet simple enough for the average user to modify...and more affordable than other "advanced" RCs out there[$]

I love the Xmod line I one 01 Gen 1, and the entire Xmode Evo line, alog with the Transformer Evo line. So when I saw these three new Xmod Streets in the store I bought all three. First off, I did not like the lack of removable crystals, they also did not include the disk brake replacements, like the Evo line, No Body Kits, many of the plastic parts look like a dog has chewed on them, This was on all three of the new ones, on the front suspension, the motor upgrade no longer has a metal heat sink, and the carrying case uses plastic instead of the foam inserts. So all this change, I feel very unsatisfied. I love Xmods but do not like the money saving ideas that cheapend a great product.

Xmods have gone to the dogs. I Got the skyline which preformed properly so i decided a few weeks later to go and buy this Mustang. Immediatly out of the box and on to the floor I realized one terrible thing, it barely turned left and didn't turn right at all, That being annoying I grabbed one of my brothers broken xmods, fixed it and put the body on. A few days later, I saw some bad fingerprints but on my attempt to wipe them off I realized that some moron had touched it when the paint was wet on top of that i noticed large drips coming down the side. I have owned a bunch of Xmods. Radio Shack will certainly discontinue these little guys right after Christmas. If you like 1/28 scale, instead of buying a couple of these, purchase yourself ONE better Mini-z. Mini-z has been around for man y years and makes a far better product. I would keep your Xmod for driving outside though, or maybe as a gift for a little kid. Keep in mind though, Mini-z do not offer better straightline performance really, they are all about REAL racing- Great handling on a track. The turn radius alone will put Xmods to shame.

Well, its about time something came "back" and was worth it to do so. About the built in crystals though, BIG no no... Tsk Tsk RadioShack, you know these were in tournament races and such, you need to have the crystals interchangable again. Other than that, im simply extatic for the return of the Xmod line. P.S. Dont listen to the people that say these are boring, because they aparently do not have the love for these things as thousands upon thousands of followers have had throughout the years. I myself have well over 40 of them, and my friends are not too far behind me having close to 25+. These things are half the price of "other 1/28th scale RC cars with more fun and options such as 4 wheel drive, functionality, and affordability. I HIGHLY recommend this for children from ages 8 to 108.

This is not that much diffrent than the older evo.... the bottem line is that this is faster than any other evo I had!! and more durable and the older evo upgrades will fit the new ones and I can't wait till the new corvette ZO6 and the nissan GTR in xmods.......

I collect the cars and race the cars. Built-in frequency chips make racing with multiples harder which equals to not as much fun... You have to offer an endless number of different frequency cars available and hope noone has the same on race night...

I got this home and was surprised at the improvement over the last xmods to come out. The only thing I dont seem to like is the crystals being built into the cars now. The chassis is going onto another car while I plan on putting this one on one of the first to come out. If you have one of the original 65s that were gen one this body will work with all the old 65 parts. So in final saying this is what the first evo line of xmods chassis should of been like but with the ability to crystal swap.

The car is great,I have 5 1st gens,6 2nd gens and this is my first 3rd!!Got home put the stage 2 motor in it and geared it for my basement!The chassis is basically the same except there is a screw now to put the batteries in(Big Deal).I think thats a pro!!!Less glitching,I think Radio Shack finnaly got this one right!!!I have been into r/c cars,trucks since 1986 i race a Losi 8 and a Losi 8T.I have about 30 different Nitro trucks,truggies,buggies!!!!And some Mini T's and RC18s!!It worth the price for sure,hurry up they are going quick and they only made 3### of them!!!Thats why i bought 3 of them!!LOL ;)

The chassis is the best part. The plastic parts that broke on the Transformer lines has been reworked to be stronger and with more plastic to hold it together. The only con I see is the frequecy crystals that were once removeable are now built into the chassis. This will not allow your buddy with the same car to race you.

It's a nice new Xmods. It's not as cool as the older ones in terms of modability considering the crystal was removed, but it's a bit stronger than the older Xmods. However, it would be nice to have some metal dogbones.

I just got this today. This is the best chassis to date with most, if not all, the previous faults with the other evolution line chassis being fixed. I wish they would of made the chassis this good to begin with then more people wouldn't be dogging them.
